Money for the cards is crazy at the moment, but if you can just idle in game menus and acquire them then the prices are going to fizz out quick.

Depends on whether they make these sets limited. I'm holding on to a few cards just in case.Money for the cards is crazy at the moment, but if you can just idle in game menus and acquire them then the prices are going to fizz out quick.

Interesting, if the cards get any cheaper I might buy a few more. They kind of are. Everything right now says series 1.
I'll wait until something like Series 8 when the S1 cards are in high demand. Either this stays popular and prices go back up or it all fizzles out.
Meh you never know with Valve. They could let it die like Portal 2 items and Hats.
Skipping the HL2 intro has a chance of crashing and alt+tabbing out definitely locks it up. Aw nuts
Eh this is pretty different from that. The Portal 2 stuff was pretty much tacked on from TF2 and didn't work for a 2 player game. This looks heavily integrated into Steam and its a pretty decent idea. Once they can get more ways to obtain cards like through achievements or special weekend events it'll be pretty awesome. And I can see it getting supported by devs as well since they can set their cut on their cards on the market.Meh you never know with Valve. They could let it die like Portal 2 items and Hats.
Source games tend to have trouble with alt-tabbing. I run TF2 in borderless windowed mode because of it.
If you get one, and if you have fillings, try biting your monitor!wait a second, THERE'S FUCKING FOIL STEAM TRADING CARDS? http://steamcommunity.com/market/listings/753/SCOUT (Foil)
How does that even make sense
There's apparently a foil badge/s as well. Not sure if that's for each game as well or what.wait a second, THERE'S FUCKING FOIL STEAM TRADING CARDS? http://steamcommunity.com/market/listings/753/SCOUT (Foil)

Strangely, I can't find the "Intro" background by searching in the market. I can't be the only person who has it.
That's the card. There's a background too.
Thanks, every time I searched it just brought up the cards.
I'm hating this new profile, i sent a ticket to support, hopefully they'll be able to rollback my profile to the old one.
Ah, found it:Sorry, that was the card. my bad lol
I don't like it either, but your righthttp://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hp97yAfP_...ADstSp5JI/s400/willy-wonka-wilder-300x300.jpg
I suggest you start getting used to it.

How about no.
I really couldn't care less about all these features. If i want money for a game i'll go and buy it, period.
As a busy person i can't be bothered with silly cards and such.
This is going to be rolled out to all users at some point, you won't have choice.
Could you expand on this? I've barely used trophies. The new steam stuff is a good start. I'm hoping they can get their achievement system fixed so it isn't super easy to auto unlock achievements so they can be used as an alternate form of getting more cards for game badges.Steam doing what PSN should have done with trophies and ranks.
And again, stuff like this shouldn't be forced upon users. I couldn't care less what lvl other people are. Also, how come i'm lvl 9 and there are users with less games or years using steam and they are lvl 12. Absolutely rubbish.
Instead of bringing broken features all the time, how about fixing the activity feed which is broken beyond relief and it constantly ''Time Warp'' or shows nothing at all.
Also, profile info is gone, unless you click in ''View More Info'', screenshots previews are gone, Games played during the last weeks are also gone. This is a mess.

Are people really taking issue with playing games and getting stuff that you can sell for real money? I mean, just play games as you normally would and then sell those things... you're essentially getting games for free...How about no.

Ah so it's the meaningless of the levels later on. Hopefully Steam/Valve keep working on this. I'm rather impressed with their ideas and can see this becoming a huge part of Steam if done right.Basically there was a ranking system where you fill up a bar, much like this level XP system on Steam. Each trophy you earn fills it up a certain amount, so it's effectively a measurement of how many trophies you have earned overall. The problem was that the bar slows to a crawl once you get above around rank 10, making you grind games for hours to get enough trophies to level up again. The other even bigger problem was that as far as I know, Sony barely did anything with these ranks. No trading cards, rewards, profile enhancements, coupons or anything cool. I believe there was maybe some sort of reward handed out to the top earners, and a couple of small email campaigns, but it was never explicitly said that the ranks actually meant anything other than e-peen bragging rights, and what they did do with them was pretty worthless anyway. This Steam system is much better - better explained and you actually know what you're working towards. It's more meaningful.

If anyone wants to see what the Don't Starve background looks like. Buying and trading back cards was kind of fun though. Didn't spend any real money of course.
You need to be level 10. Once you hit that you can insert a showcase into your profile which can be for acheivements workshop items, inventory items ect. You get an additional showcase every 10 levels.Woah, that achievement showcase is cool. How do you set that up?
i don't have any game cards though...
I completed HL2.. but none of the progress was logged zzz

Here's the Alyx/Gordon background.

What he said, but it's bugged-- achievement showcase doesn't show up as an option for everybody, something Valve is aware of but not sure how they're going to fix.Woah, that achievement showcase is cool. How do you set that up?
It has nothing to do with your progress currently. All you have to do for now is launch the game and let it run for x amount of time, until you've received 4 cards.i don't have any game cards though...
