The faster Tabatha comes out and explains Luna's new role in a brief synopsis, the better. Now everyone's just jumping into the worst case scenario of her being an eye candy, weak damsel in distress.
I am sure he understands the current situation and they definitely read most of the reactions from fans. I expect a huge focus on Luna, the black haired girl and the other characters at Gamescom. The faster Tabatha comes out and explains Luna's new role in a brief synopsis, the better. The person who wrote Dissidia's nonsensical script is in charge of writing for Final Fantasy XV? Wow...
Other than the technical aspects, I find it harder and harder to maintain an interest for this title.
I don't think DQ11 is releasing before FF15 (it would be real sad if it did...). I'm using it as an example of what would likely get PS4s off shelves; I think DQ is a more potent system seller in Japan than FF is. And while a price cut might make the PS4s more enticing, I don't think it's that high of a motivator to get the system.A lot of people don't have PS4s and would only buy one if it was FFXV, DQXI, or a console MH. A price cut would make that more enticing.
DQXI releasing first is unlikely at this point, even if this is FFXV.
I wonder how much it's gonna be connected to the Fabula Nova Crystallis mythology still.
A lot of people bitched about it, but I actually found the mythology and the fal'cie/l'cie thing really interesting. It was a really cool idea in XIII, I think it just wasn't explained well to well to new players.
One of the coolest things for me in Versus was the goddess etro portrait and the " light of expiring souls" thing.
That's good. I didn't know Nomura said that, but it's cool with me as long as they keep the whole near death experience aspect.Im pretty sure that is still in especially from the art at the end of the demo after beating it, you can see Etro at the top and she is still on the cover. I think that part is still easy to keep but Nomura said forever ago and we still see it now that there is no fal'cie/l'cie in name.
FNC is still in, but is Noctis' formal wear? This is important.

Well, yeah, but this is for the treaty signing party. That's been cancelled. It's most likely from 2013 since we can see the Niflheim and Lucis banners like in E3 2013.
Yeah but a scene similar to it could still be in at a different point, since we have been seeing the tech demos in this area

Have they cancelled the whole party or only the Stella scene?
Luna is much more Generic. (for JRPGs)
Stela is a real name and sounded more realistic...
If they needed a different girl, why didn't they just altered the character and leave the name intact.
Noctis and gang aren't present for the party.
So yeah, they removed the party scene.

I could swear that every other female cat (and quite a few dogs) here in Italy are called Luna.Luna is much more Generic..
You joke, but that suit was some serious shit, i'd wear it as an alt costume for the whole game.

Oh in Switzerland too it seems
Did they confirm if the whole map can be explored?
I remember hearing something about the cities that you could visit during the game, but I'm not sure if it was in a recent interview or in some old article that I was randomly browsing.
For reference these were the last two threads on GAF on the worldmap 1 - 2
I made both of those threads. The first one for the world map may have been a bit premature. It might just the world map for just Duscae.
There are two other confirmed areas in the game which I'm guessing are the regions after Duscae. They're presumably called Leide and Cleigne. We first found out about them through magazine scans and we can see mentions of those places again in the demo.
But yeah, you can seemingly traverse to anywhere on the world map.
T
Lol Luna is a real name too.
Yeah, and besides her real name is Lunafreya, which doesn't sound generic in any way, shape or form.
I actually love the new name, "Lunafreya Nox Fleuret". :3
Well Luna is actually a great name, but Lunafreya is... uh...
The Witcher 1 was a disaster at launch, actually. It wasn't until they fixed most of the stuff with Enhanced Edition that they got the fans trust. It wasn't exactly critically praised series until The Witcher 2.
Both Luna and Stella are prime "normal heroine" names for the FF series. I mean, we've had Maria, Lenna, Rosa, Celes, Tifa, Rinoa, Garnet, Yuna(which rhymes with Luna), names like Luna and Stella both fit and don't feel out of place. Hell, you could say those two names sound MORE FF-ish than Noctis, Gladiolus, Prompto and Ignis. Regardles of looking the part of your average Nomura-looking troupe, their names just reek of Nomura's Latin fetish.Luna is much more Generic. (for JRPGs)

FF14 has been pretty damn great. Definitely now in my top games of the series.
Don't get me wrong Kagari, I do love FF XIV, I played both version of the software and that was one of my best FF experience. It just feel awkward to me that the MMO feels like a core mainline entry when FF XIII don't deliver anything similar despite the three installment.
I don't even think of 14 as a MMO. I actually dislike MMOs but I love 14.
So you mainly play it as a single player experience?

Yeah, Um, about that........Or Sephiroth, I don't think anyone anywhere would actually name a kid Sephiroth. Too many syllables, doesn't contract well, and it's neither a traditional name nor based on a word that would have meaning to most people.
There hasn't been any new material for 9 months, is the reality of it :V.
Sadly the final fantasy series is a mixed bag in terms of character names. In part this is because Japanese content creators don't always realize how thier names come across to a western audience.
Case in point, Lightning. In Japan this name supposedly comes across as effeminate. For everyone else, it comes across as a bit strange.

Luna is a minor offender in comparison, as it is a real name at least.
PS: No this it not meant to be critical of either these characters, or the people that created them. When it comes to games that span cultures occasionally there'll be little things lost in translation.

I just watched the Hollywood film Mad Max and it has names like Splendid and Toast.Sadly the final fantasy series is a mixed bag in terms of character names. In part this is because Japanese content creators don't always realize how thier names come across to a western audience.

It's easy to make the games different when one wasn't actually made. And things change in production on any game. I don't think you're seeing it right if you think this change accompanied the name change.I was under the impression that Square simply renamed Versus XIII to XV. I had no idea that it was a significantly different game.
This is blowing my mind right now.
Crap, the treaty signing was by far my favourite looking scene of all Versus/XV trailers.
I really hope it's still in despite the whole opening gameplay section being cut :/
Re: Stella/Luna again:
How do you know that most of Luna's background story isn't still similar to Stella's. She still seems to be an important political figure (see the demo's Secret Movie), she still seems to have the same kind of power as Noctis (see the small crystal shards flying around her - like when Noctis summons), she still has a connection to the sky name-wise (= "moon" now instead of "star") and she still seems to be a love interest of Noctis (see the "Your date's already waiting for you." line in the TGS trailer when they talk about Luna waiting in Altissa).
That's a lot of similarities. The things that were changed probably were for the better (who knows what convoluted mess Stella's story could have turned out with Nojima/Nomura writing).
Anybody trying to make claims about Luna's personality based on a few seconds of the same scene of her sitting at a table: come on...
Btw, the young girl in the beginning of the E3 '13 trailer is Stella, right? So Noctis knows her from his childhood? It was never confirmed, though, right? I wonder if that plot point stayed the same with Luna now.

THIS. Can't wait to see more of her.
They'd outsource a lot of the work to studios around the world, and it would get done under 2 years.Since Final Fantasy XIII I've wonder how a western developer would handle a Final Fantasy game, can't help but think FFXV would've been out years ago.
