It's just more detailed looking versions of the Crystal Gems and Steven. I think the simple artstyle does the series a better service. Pilot designs are too busy for my taste.

Pilot Pearl was the biggest difference of the pilot designs, though.
I remember watching part of the pilot when it first went online and it turned me off from the show until I started hearing the word of mouth.

I just watched it for the first time, I'm so glad this wasn't the direction they went, because I would never have watched it.

I thought the pilot style was great, but for what the show is I prefer this. For a show more in vein of regular show and adventure time I'd like that more though.

I really liked both of the previous episodes.
Future Boy Zoltron got a bad reaction here, but I really liked it as soon as Mr Frowny entered the picture.
And Last One Out of Beach City was just awesome. Pearl keeps getting the best episodes.

The past four episodes have been a roller coaster for me. Buddy's Book was funny but just OK, while Mindful Education was absolutely incredible. That was followed up by Future Boy Zoltron, which felt like such a throwaway episode for me.
And then we get another excellent episode in Last One Out of Beach City right after. I wish all the episodes were as good as that, but at least they're trying to be creative.

No joke, my headcanon voice for Wicke is Pearl's right now (For forum archaeologists, that's Puruzi's current avatar).
That's not even the most egregious error. That either goes to Pearl's expression during the car chase being different in the rearview mirror or the fact the police lights stop after the first couple of shots.
Honestly, they might also be that she suggests Pearl's gynosexual (It's obvious, but not explicitly stated. And some of them may've been holding out hope for waifu reasons).
But yeah! I can't wait for the inevitable date episode with these 2.

Kinda seemed "acid trip" ish but it really was pretty unique and I hope it gets used by someone for another really cool CN show.
Also have we seen/heard anything about any new shows? We've got Steven Universe and Adventure time but Regular Show is ending and we need something to fill that spot right? Hopefully we get something as good and unique as the above three.
Isn't OK KO still in the pipeline? My guess is they're stocking up on episodes now so they have another show they can "bomb."

IT was such a good show, it really made me sad when i heard.
Was it cancelled or is it just being bookended ? It's one of the funniest and smartest animated show on air imo.

Mighty Magiswords starts on the 29th. I really liked the shorts, so I'm looking forward to it.
Quite the opposite for me, I really disliked the shorts but who knows maybe the show will be better. I would prefer Lakewood Plaza Turbo but it seems to be stuck in some weird multimedia limbo trap.

Oh god, I remember when the designs for the first episode came out and I was like "WTF THESE AREN'T THE PILOT DESIGNS WHY WOULD REBECCA RUIN EVERYTHING REEEEEEEEEEEEEE", but then I got used to it pretty quickly. I like to think of the pilot Gems as like Earth-2 Steven Universe.

OK KO looks decent, not a fan of Mighty Magiswords but I feel like with the Adventure Time/Steven Universe/Regular Show trio we've kinda been spoiled with some fairly mature cartoons that were also really special individually and I kinda fear that once they all come to an end there won't be anything to fill that same gap.

I had no idea about Gumball ending, but I have to say that I thought the last two episodes were flat out terrible. They had like no laughs at all.

SO I made the mistake of subscribing to this show on iTunes (which means that I get episodes every other week when they only air one, it's infuriating), but today it won't even download. I press the download button, it says downloading, and then nothing happens.

I've seen some complaints about the exact same thing, so it's not just you. Seems to be an issue with this newest volume, as it has happened before with earlier episodes. No idea what's causing it, but it's not affecting every user from what I can tell.

Yeah what really got me back into the show was that episode, it could have easily been a sitcom plot but then when Eileen says that he doesn't have to change for her and then replies that he wants to do it for himself is some grade A writing.
Turning that into an entire arc about Rigby going back to school saved that show and made it relatable for the first time.

"Last One Out of Beach City" is one of those slice of life/filler episodes I can really get behind, I can't wait to see how Pearl and S's relationship develops in the future.
I really feel like earth's gem inhabitants need to try and make more interesting human friends if Rebecca and the crewniverse insist on filling the space between the far more interesting plot-centric stories with mundane slice of life episodes.
Also I never thought about it until she pointed it out, but you can't get much more rebellious than our Pearl; she's always so prim and proper it's easy to forget that she transgressed all the rules of her ancestral society to free herself from the seemingly eternal life of a beautiful homeworld slave girl.

Pearl went through even more looks than the one we got in the pilot:
She's basically a mechanic in the first image; maybe Pearls were the lowly techie-caste at some point in development?
I kind of doubt it, but the concept art makes it look like a possibility!

JESUS, that's way more "Water Witch" than her final design. I wonder if she originally had long straight hair and was still kind to Steven, but the hair would flare up like this when she was angry and she'd be scary as fuck. That design is frightening, but I like the final concept of the fragile-looking, waifish Lapis being emotionally damaged but uber-powerful.
