‘Star Wars’ Video-Game Director Stig Asmussen Leaves Electronic Arts
Video-game director Stig Asmussen, who led efforts to rebuild Electronic Arts Inc.’s Star Wars game franchise, is leaving the company.

Which has nothing to do with his role at EA, so why would that be what the article associates his time at EA with?Director of God of War 3 u mean?
He coming home to Sony Santa Monica?

And that's likely the reason he left, EA forcing them to release the game when it wasn't ready.Well it's nice to mention that since Jedi Survivor was a shit show performance-wise
And who knows what talent they bled during the process as well. Since the first one was very well polished in comparison. Somewhere, their pipeline got messed up. Down to the non optional RTX which fubar'ed the rasterization pipe. And that's likely the reason he left, EA forcing them to release the game when it wasn't ready.

Probably a mixture yeah.I'm gonna guess here a little bit, it was Disney/Lucas Arts ?? but also EA at the end of the day
Let's hope, because the last two God of War games don't hold a candle to the originals. He coming home to Sony Santa Monica?

He's overrated imo. Respawn is an incredibly talented dev house and will do fine without him.Go back home Stig I've always liked him
Doubtful. The story was probably outlined even before the original game was completed. It's not difficult to find a game director to fill his role. All we can hope now is that the quality of execution on that vision doesn't degrade.Weird. He said he envisioned Jedi as a trilogy. I guess the next game is probably cancelled.
Tell Phil Spencer to hire him, quickly. He had a game canceled at SSM too. No clue what he'll do now. He seems very good. Bad luck I guess.
Probably got pissed EA forced his game out before it was done. That's one thing Sony doesn't do.
Embracer will acquire him and then try to sell.Tell Phil Spencer to hire him, quickly.
He wouldn't get to be the big dog on campus at Naughty Dog (lol). Druckmann has that on lock.He should come back to Santa Monica or another PlayStation studio like Insomniac or Naughty Dog.
Perfect Dark needs a veteran lead...Tell Phil Spencer to hire him, quickly.
But the second picture shows something better. I care about why I'm fighting Baldur. I was just mindlessly murdering people in GOW3.Let's hope, because the last two God of War games don't hold a candle to the originals.
We went from this epic sense of scale...

He was director of GoW 3 so I disagree that he's overratedHe's overrated imo. Respawn is an incredibly talented dev house and will do fine without him.
Sure you can, but not in a God of War game. They might as well have just created a new IP if changing the DNA of a franchise that was beloved for nearly two decades was the end game. But the second picture shows something better. Both games have their place, but scale isn't everything. You can have grand moments in smaller, more personal battles.

No. you actually do not know why you are fighting Baldur. you do not even know why you switched from Greek to Norse. and you do not know why you became a snowflake either to the point everyone stomps on you even your 7-year-old son or whatever that idiot age.But the second picture shows something better. Director of God of War 3 u mean?
Hopefully he won't spin up a new VR studio or something stupid like that.Big loss for EA.
I wonder where he'll end up.
My son is in that home and I've just buried my wife. I'm fighting him to protect all I have in the world.No. you actually do not know why you are fighting Baldur. you do not even know why you switched from Greek to Norse. and you do not know why you became a snowflake either to the point everyone stomps on you even your 7-year-old son or whatever that idiot age.
GoW 1 to 3 had a purpose. kill all the gods that made him suffer. and anyone stands in your way of achieving that goal as they were the reason he was tricked and blinded to kill his family. it can't get any better than that.
GOW 2018 and the new one are nothing but barely decent at their best. just hyped up to shit just like All Sony titles are. GOW 1 to 3 ( 3 especially ) is probably the best action game ever made.
He was director of GoW 3 so I disagree that he's overrated
It was still a God of War game. It carried its history with it and built on it. The DNA of God of War was not it's combat system. It was a character action game and that is what GOW 2018 was.Sure you can, but not in a God of War game. The gameplay that people came to love and expect from a God of War title for 13 years is not it's defining factor? It was still a God of War game. It carried its history with it and built on it. Todd Papy also inherited the same team and directed the weakest mainline game in the franchise (gameplay was great though) and Jaffe admitted they didn't use a lot of stuff he left behind. He inherited an incredibly talented team, the foundation, and framework which was left behind by Jaffe. He did fuck all for more than half a decade, then lands a blessed role with Respawn another talented dev house. As a director he hasn't really done anything new or interesting for me to appreciate.
Probably got pissed EA forced his game out before it was done. That's one thing Sony doesn't do.
I Hope not, they lack creative vision. He must go back to Santa Monica and work on the next installment of the God of War ip. A mix of the old and new.My bet Is Microsoft Studios.
Ascension wasn't a bad game either, it just failed to do anything new or interesting. I'm not saying Asmussen is a bad director, I just strongly feel he is way too overrated. I loved Fallen Order, but as a creative director he has no balls, that's my opinion. GoW III had a lot of the core GoW II staff and Asmussen was there as an Art Director prior to that. I feel he has always played it safe with designs, and that's really easy to do when you work with studios like SSM & Respawn.Todd Papy also inherited the same team and directed the weakest mainline game in the franchise (gameplay was great though) and Jaffe admitted they didn't use a lot of stuff he left behind.
