I'm glad I get to play this as an owner of PS4/PC/Xbone, but I always dislike 3rd party exclusives because they cut out fans who aren't as privileged to own everything like some of us.

Hopefully this is only timed so Xbox owners can play.

Waiting for threads where people get jumpy whenever screenshots of the PC version with Xbox controller prompts show up.

Still a similar style but I much rather prefer the newer models. Ryu doesn't look like such a cave man anymore!

Yeah, I can dig it. Looks like they toned down Ryu's shoulders a bit and gave him pants that fit properly. Makes him look a little less top heavy.

?? So I take someone on a forums word for IT?? Both crytek and insomniac have been around a long time why would they need MS funding, where is the proof these games would not have been made if MS was not around?

Do you know that the studios dont have the amount of money for develop and for marketing that is why exists the publisher like microsoft, sony, ea, etc that "help" with that.

Wasn't there an Ono blog image of blanka and a DS4?

Writing was on the wall fellas. Let's not make this a big deal, otherwise, find a way to own one of the two platforms to play it.

Never really a fan of Street Fighter so this doesn't effect me but considering the moves Capcom has been over the last couple years it just cements them as a publisher that I have no clue what the fuck they're doing lol. They're just so all over the place it seems.

The way I see it, it's perfectly fine to be upset, but some people don't just get upset, they act like spoiled kids, as if companies own them anything.

They don't own us shit. They made the business decision that made most sense, and now it's up to you if you want it or not.

Though I've been told more than once that my vision is too pro-company, so there's that. I just like to see games as products. You offer me the product, I'll decide if I want it, and that's it.
It's understandable for people to be frustrated. SFV has long been a multiplatform title, and many people probably bought XB1 systems on that assumption if they are fighting game fans.

I remember that when I was a kid, I partially bought a N64 because I was excited for a Chrono Trigger / Final Fantasy sequel. Then Square jumped ship and went to Sony. That was a huge deal for me, because Square games had always been on Nintendo systems before then.

I think it's healthy for people to experience anger, and to let that anger out somewhere like a web forum.

Another comparison pic for those who missed it earlier.

While still too close for my liking, SFV is an improvement.

How is it good for Xbox One owners that PS4 owners can't play Tomb Raider and vice versa for SF? These deals drive consumers toward one box or another, but that's only good for the platform holders. It would be better for the audience to be able to get any software on any platform, whenever that is a possibility (i.e., excluding games made by MS or Sony studios).

It's not "good" in the sense that other players being deprived of a game makes playing it on your system better. But it is "good" in the sense that any exclusive is good -- it bolsters a more unique library to justify the investment. Mind you, I agree. In my perfect world, every game would just come out on PC and I wouldn't need the Wii U and the PS4 that I have (don't have a One yet). But -- and I want to make it painstakingly clear that I'm not arguing that the business rationale behind exclusivity is precisely the same -- if I'm buying a PS4 for the next Uncharted, an exclusive like Street Fighter V helps justify the investment in the platform. If I bought my Wii U for Smash, the existence of Bayonetta 2 also helps justify the investment in the platform. If I bought a One for Halo, Tomb Raider's exclusivity helps justify the investment in the platform.

As a gaming consumer, I'd much rather just play Smash and Bayonetta 2 and Uncharted and Halo on my PC. But that's not the world we live in.

Finally got to see the video thanks to Sylver.

Wow. I know it's marketing bullshit, but the trailer basically being love letter to the FGC hit me right in the feels.

EVO 2016 is going to be hype as fuck.

Blinded by the luminous glory that is David Bowie's physical manifestation.
I was super critical of SF4's art design, I like this style a LOT more. Still exaggerated, but not the point of looking so damn goofy. Ryu actually looks cool now and Chun Li looks more sleek and agile.

Disagree. They both look bad, but SF4's less buffed-up roid-rage look looks better to me.

I'd rather they drop the Udon/buffed-up-people-that-is-ridiculously-ugly art and go back to the Sprite look of SF2/3/Alpha for the characters. :(

So my TE stick for xbox 360, won't be useless for PC?

No, since there is drivers for the 360 controller hardware on Windows. Same with the DS3/PS3 controllers, but you have to put more work into those to get those to work (and Arcade sticks are finicky about it).

The guy you're responding to plays dumb about counterpoints while also asserting things with no supporting or even basic information. Don't bother.

OT though, I'm just glad that there is going to be an SF5. I'm going to wait for the inevitable Super version though. Whether that be DLC or a separate SKU (please be DLC).

They've gone and done it... they've gone and woke the sleeping dragon now.

Sony should have left well enough alone and now they're going to get it. It's not enough that they're bleeding benjamins from practically every crevice of their existence. Now they go and throw immense moneyhats at a niche game like Street Fighter just to piss off the market. Why pay to keep a game out of the hands of as many gamers as possible? Why not put that money into first-party studios and games instead?

I know, I know... this is the way the business goes as they say. Well, they forced Microsoft's hands with their early sales lead and Microsoft only responded with an NPD whooping (source: musings thread) by way of incredible deals and value. Microsoft will undoubtedly follow this announcement up with some real megatons of their own.

Gears remake collection. A true Banjo sequel. Halo 5 beta in the hands of gamers. The next Bayonetta, Dead Space and Crysis as exclusives. Those are the kinds of blockbuster response announcements I expect, and then some. You hit Microsoft with a jab, you best be ready for a flurry of uppercuts coming at you in response.

This is grade A stuff

Would you even be discussing this game at all had it not been for console exclusivity?

It's funny how the teaser highlights the many different fans of the street fighter series but this thread devolves into which platform it is or isn't on.

People felt that way back then too? Heh. Now I really wonder what the internet really would have been like if it was that advanced back then.

I'm more amazed at the fact that it's skipping the X1 rather than the game being released.

Especially since it's coming to the PC.

That said, NEW STREET FIGHTER!!!

Looks like Street Fighter 4-2....Which was already Street Fighter 2-2

So that would make Street Fighter V
Super Street Fighter 2-2-2

So it is coming to PC, and Ps4, making it a console exclusive on Ps4, meaning although it is not exclusive to the Ps4 platform, it is the only console you can play it on.

This is strange, I hope it isn't Sony buying the exclusive rights to SF. If it is them buying the rights to a fighting game let alone any game, WHY in the name of nonsense in this world was it not Tekken 7?!?!?!?

Wonder when the Gaming press is going to grill Sony exec's about every last detail of this exclusivity?

To kind of get off the exclusive talk for a moment, I wanted to talk about the teaser itself.

A friend of mine made a very good point; it’s not a normal trailer, where you focus on the game. It focuses on the people playing the game, and how it really shapes you. It shows the culture of the community very well, in my book.

It showed some of the most noteworthy moments in SF tournies as well as just how important the game is to people. I thought it was an awesome way to unveil the game; not with a bunch of footage (which I’d also like, of course), but showing how important the game is, and will be to people for years to come.

It’s just amazing to think that the FGC has went from filming via an off-screen cam for the Daigo Parry, to being the focal point of the official unveiling of the premier fighting game in their eyes. I remember when the SFIV trailer came out and people were just happy to get a new game to play, to having an incredible renaissance that lead to now. The FGC survived the dark ages and are thriving now.

To summarize in the corniest way possible, this one seems like it’s for the players. It's a love letter for everyone who loves this kind of take, whether you play for fun like me, or play for tournies. Fantastic marketing.

This is worse than TR. Capcom what are you doing?? Most people preferred to play SF and most fighting games on 360 last gen and now you cut off Xbox fans entirely?

Sony would have been better off trying to get MH back for the vita.

As a gaming consumer, I'd much rather just play Smash and Bayonetta 2 and Uncharted and Halo on my PC. But that's not the world we live in.

People had a reasonable expectation for a franchise like Street Fighter (and Tomb Raider) to remain multiplatform. All these games you're listing are 1st party exclusives, where fans have a reasonable expectation that those games will never be on any other platform.

This is the disconnect, and why people are bothered by these deals.

Shot down?? lol where?

Here...

They are fucking published by MS

I hate to even wade in to this, but Insomniac has confirmed they went with Microsoft because they let them keep the IP and that other publishers (including presumably Sony) would not. Ryse was originally developed (and thus most likely commissioned by MS) as a Kinect title. Don't know if there any official statements about the latter though.

You seriously think Crytek and Insomniac are big enough studios to fund games as big as Ryse and Sunset on their own?

There's a reason both games were published by MS and are effectively first party.

"Why would Crytek need funding?" LOL. Were you conveniently under a rock when Crytek could not pay their fucking employees? You are clueless.

Do tell. Also this is a new gen, what happened with ps3 and 360 doesn't apply now. I am pretty sure street fighter sold more on ps3, I'll have to look it uo.

Oh yeah for sure, I would prefer a style closer to SF3 or Alpha, but I think it had to be an iteration on SF4 to cut costs. Personally I think it's an improvement.
