I think he's low tier. He has nothing that get's him out of the corner.

Also Ken's medium Tatsu's invincible on startup? Went against a Ken who mashes it and Fierce DP and lost to it with Cammy's Cannon Spike

He has nothing invincible to mash, but a semi decent read with v-reversal is an option. Sure it's baitable, but in this context so are most characters options in the corner.

I really like playing Karin, but I still suck. Any Karin tutorials out there yet?

Hate that we gotta wait until SPRING to have the full game!

I've been playing Mika exclusively and I feel like she's strong as hell. I can't remember the last game I lost but a lot of that is lack of player skill. Her st.MK is her greatest tool. You can use that until they decide to finally stop pressing buttons and then you get to run your game.

She gets a massive throw buff off just a single tap of her V-skill and she can get massive damage off anywhere on the screen. Before her throw that could really only be used in the corner that wall bounces was her best damage. But if you do the throw mid-screen and back dash you get the wall bounce anyway into a full combo.

I need to explore this st MK thing.

The backdash thing is crazy.

Huh, haven't played Ryu myself, but I was hearing Gootecks say that he thought this was Ryu's strongest iteration ever on his stream earlier

How can he possibly say that with all the confirmed nerfs?

By the way, Capcom, stop doing this:

The lack of combos from crouch position is worrying, I mean when an opponent is standing and blocking you would normally crouch attack to begin a combo, Ryu cant do anything from crouch position except crouch short>jab>dragon punch.

Really annoying indeed.
Vega is inside them sometimes and nothing happens.
That same attack and distance with Chun and it hits during the run of her idle animations when she moves alittle too.

You are not hitting the hurtbox. Learn where it is first before complaining.

Yes, that's exactly what I'm complaining about, that the hurtboxes don't match the models, it's very annoying. That's why I love Third Strike, attacks (mostly) hit exactly where they look like they should.

Coming from Vega, I cannot get over how trash Ryu is in this beta. Give him anything, Capcom.

Coming from mostly Mika and Ken, I'm winning almost all of my matches with Ryu. He doesn't seem to have many tricks, but he's really solid. Seems like a good transitional character from SFIV too.

I've finally learned how to hadoken consistently. The key is to press the punch AFTER the quarter circle, not simultaneously like I was trying to do.

Now onto learning how to Shoryuken.

I feel like an idiot everytime I get paired for a match, with my 60,000 rank vs someone in the 30,000s. But at least I'm learning.

Tell that to Elena players

Locking yourself to static stuff like animations will just make balance a mess.

Disappointed that they reverted the qcf psycho inferno change. Wonder why. Bison still seems pretty good but it also feels like people are breaking out of hitstun and hitting me back before some of my moves recover which is pretty messed up.

I did notice that it's much much much easier to combo from scissors into super now. Before, it was 'possible' but you had to do it on the first hit and it would whiff if they weren't in the corner so good luck landing that shit. Now you can cancel into it after the first hit of scissors, still need to be close but it's not hard. I also hit Birdie out of the air in the corner with scissors and was able to juggle with the super, surprised that landed.

Is anyone getting matches? I haven't gotten anything all morning.

I can't even get 12 seconds in training mode. I'm taking a break, too many matches one after another...

Of course the hitboxes don't match the models. They're square boxes. Capcom tried to do model hitboxes and people complained for SFIV, so they changed it back.

You are fighting a battle that was already lost. Just learn where the boxes are.

Also I get the feeling that the "attach hitboxes models" thing was what they initially did for SFIV, like before launch and everyone hated it? I'm probably wrong but I do remember them retooling something like that before the game came out.

Had a few games today and I have managed to destroy quite a few people without knowing how to do any combois. My spacing game, mind games, mixups, throws and throw techs are paying off. I have had fun with Charlie, every time I use this V Trigger I always get a free hit with the mixups. Rashid is also fun to use. Finally Ryu and Cammy although I'm not as flashy with those 2 I can manage to win a fair few times. Once the game comes out officially I will start learning combos and decentnhit confirms.

Yes, this is what you do, that's how it works. You can also go into LK tatsu or even do crLK stLP stLK into LK tatsu/HP Hadoken. People need to stop acting like no lights to mediums suddenly means no combos and learn to confirm into specials off 2 lights.

Yeah and you can push opponents to the corner by pressing forward MK. It's ridic.

Doesn't need to be an exact match, just not like THAT. But, sure, whatever, my biggest problem is how short all Ryu normals are and not hurtboxes and models.

If you play against a Bison by the name of Renzoku, it's actually Brentt playing but he's a tiny bit hungover from yesterday lol.

Psycho Inferno got changed to a qcb, but then they changed it to be unsafe on block.

Then they put it back as a charge motion, but kept it unsafe on block.

Psycho Blast is also unsafe on block.

Lol.

Damn ryu breaks his foot each time he kicks damn
If you want to see a broken foot, c.HK with Ken.

Hit and hurtboxes should roughly match the animation.

Yeah, this is not really that. Hitboxes getting moved back and forth during development is nothing new, but there are a weirdly large amount of normals with large chunks that don't hit, to a degree where it'd be really appreciated if they tweaked the animation once they lock in some of their balance changes.

Glorious terrible Japanese stream quality.

Oh good, NicoNico's shitty "priority seating" is in full effect too, I hope Twitch can take off in Japan at some point. -_-
That site is THE WORST. Don't know why they put up with it, it must pay well or something.

It would look real clean but don't think they'll do it with how much and often things get moved around nowadays.

I don't disagree that the hitboxes need tweaking, but to say that it's because "it's not touching her" when it literally is not seems strange.

I'm loving Ryu. I like his basic but good damage style. I like his defensive patient playstyle.

Any good tips for his mix up game? I need to add more weapons to my SleepingRYU.

That's how you start. If you could beat someone highly ranked and skilled right away it takes away the chase. The Chase is the fun part. I have been destroyed beyond belief in early beta 1. I've gotten comfortable and now can beat people in the mid thousands. It is beta so that isn't much but I see improvement now over before.
