Whoever said earlier that Vega roll attack move thing is punishable - I don't believe you

The guy who said that Vega roll attack move thing is punishable says git gud.

Joke aside. Use Vega dummy record the roll and immediate block to learn the timing of the punish. Gotta learn how to use he training room tools.

I wish I had your problem. I just want to practice for a little. I keep getting bombarded with matches.
I haven't been able to get matchmaking to work all weekend -- the best I've had is about 15 minutes between games. Makes playing the beta kind of hard. :\

Why am I not allowed to rush down with charge characters? I think Bison is sooo bad. Like... all of his good tools are taken away. Head Stomp whiffs, Scissors Kick is slow and can get interrupted, Only decent shit are his two new moves. I can rush down with psycho ball and inferno to an extent but shit man.... I've been rewarded more by running away with Bison and using normals than actually fighting. I'm tired of Dimps dictating how I play Street Fighter man. If I want to rush down with Bison so be it. Give me some fucking charge partitioning man.

Man that desk video lol I Hope SFV doesn't turn into a melee situation dividing the community between SF4 players and SFV players.

It will considering IV's the worst entry.

what video ?

And it's never gonna happen. SFV marketing is gonna bulldozer SFIV.

People still play SF 2 and 3 so i'm sure people will play IV still, but capcom and sony won't let IV steal any momentum from EVO and stuff.

It's a beta. I'm sure there is more optimization that needs to be done. But yeah, I think they locked the background characters because of lower end rigs and for the PS4. I really hope theyhave an option to get rid of that shit in the PC version. It makes the stages just look horrible for me.

People always say this but it rarely pans out. "It's a beta" then the end product stays the same.

What we are seeing is what we get, short of maybe they fixing the shadows if it turns out it is a dumb shader problem.

Nah. This game's amalgamating a lot of things from SF2/A/3 that are familiar if you played those iterations. It's just radically different from SF4, so if that was your first/only introduction, learning not to just jab is going to be rough.

I keep getting this thing in the PC version where sometimes the versus screen and pre/post fight screens run half speed, but the match itself is fine.
I have been running into the same problem except offline training also runs at half speed. Matches themselves are fine.

similar to ken's run cancels where there's like an early window and a late window

Is it the same? Karin gets a new voice SFX to indicate you did a different move. It also pops up your opponent just as high as the first uppercut even if it's the second one in a row, meaning you can follow up after it.

Game is 6 months away and Capcom does fantastic PC ports with the help of QLOC who are also the best at what they do. It's a beta bro.

I prefer those games any day before 4 but I see people or should I say 09ers crying wolf, it's like people fail to realize SF was never about combos.

Had a feeling... No wake ups are invincible?
There are still some. Necallie's HP/EX DP, Ken/Ryu's MP/EX DP (I think thats the ones on Ryu.) Karin has an EX one. I think Chun's EX SBK still is. Some of those might not be throw invincible - if Ken's EX is like SF4, that'll be the case.

Backdashes aren't, which is huge.

Yeah, maybe it's the shitty ghost of SFIV's variable frame rate option. I also frequently get a bug where Karin's voice clips seem to play twice, giving them an echoing, eldritch quality as she invariably stomps my Ken.

I think the reason ps4 version looks like shit is because it's a beta. They usually optimize stuff at last.

GGxrd on a similar engine, with much more details in the background and special effects everywhere, looks so much sharper.

Also, they did improve shadows since the first beta.

Not exactly sure what part of the Xrd has more detail, not to mention that the lighting is chunked off to larger pieces of area and there's pretty much no texture work.

The effects are not more complex either.

I'm pretty happy with visuals of the PC beta. I wish they could offer a better antialiasing solution (anything higher than medium crushes detail), but overall I'd most prefer that they focus on performance/optimization. Would help mitigate subpar online experiences for everyone.

EDIT: Oh, and I recall an interview stating that the PC version was being handled internally, not by QLOC. So hopefully we'll get a final product on the level of the early MT Framework PC games.

I got drawn against Alioune earlier today. Think I managed to hit him with one low short and then I got pummeled. Severely.

Not at a basic level anyway, high level SF play however which include various combos ranging From 100%, infinites, and stun setups, there was usually some meta game built from the system. Nowadays not so much.

hey at least the shadows look nice

Nope, they blink like as last gen low res shadows they are. They look better in the screenshot than in-game, where they make weird movements and appear and dissapear constantly. xDD

And after a minute or two playing I always get disconnected from the server. To be fair, I must say that my laptop is under the minimal PC specs even if I played here USFIV perfectly.

It's something common from the PC master race, you can't play AAA games properly (same conditions that in console) unless you are spending hundreds or thousands of dollars frequently to update your hardware.

Posted this in the Character discussion thread but thought I'd ask here as well.

I feel like Karin sucks. I played a million Karins & didn't lose to a single one. I didn't touch her myself so I want some perspective from people who played her. Is she as bad as she seems?

I can only speak from playing Ken but he just ruined her Christmas. Could punish everything for good damage, could out footsie with better normals, could jump in easily at the right range. Her damage never was threatening, her gimmicks easy to get around, & her V-trigger was super undwhelming. She just seemed like a slighlty better version of Claw.

The background do use textures, and as for the characters, they don't use textures except for a few specific things, but it doesn't make them not demanding, they also use outlines which doubles they poiycount.

It's still 3D, you can see in the animated visual novel that the camera has many angles and rotations and it might not be dynamic lightning but who cares for a 2D gameplay ?

As for being more detailed, I don't know the backgrounds in Xrd look much more mastered than SF V to me.

Plus Guilty Gear has this :

hehe, it's a trump card.

So this is only a ps4 problem? I noticed this immediately and I don't remember it from any of the promotional videos or pictures. It looks really bad.

I mean, you can have that problem on PC with lower settings. The ambient occlusion like that if you have post-processing on medium. High looks a lot better, ultra/"recommended" looks basically perfect and low turns it off entirely.

Man, I wish I could downsample this...It's the only way to make the game look nice and sharp, but it makes it runs at half speed and the usage on all my CPU cores does down to zero. Curse you Unreal 4, and your lack any any not-garbage antialiasing options!!

So "recommended" means ultra? I need to be using that I guess.

I don't think that necessarily applies in this game's case. Ran it on an i5 Alienware Alpha with a mixture of settings. Not sure how closely it compares to PS4, but I do know that for some things (shadows) it looks better.

Hopefully Digital Foundry does an analysis on the beta, which usually includes a build targeting like-for-like graphics with PS4.

She's a mixup heavy character that requires proper spacing to take advantage, she's not a easy character to pick up. People right now are being predictable with the usual setups. Kaz played her well from what I've seenhttp://youtu.be/U_Nkw0q7Zlw

The damage she can do is very threatening. If she gets a reset on you here with 2 meter or 1 meter + v trigger, you're basically dead.

resets after the timestamp here are pretty nasty too

(His video description, not the video itself)

LiangHuBBB has played a lot of games in the beta with much success, so he probably has a good grasp on each character's strength. If he's saying that she might be strongest of both betas, then she's at the very least probably in a good spot.

The PS4 version looks like shit now? How did I know this would happen when PC gamers started playing the game. It's not perfect, but to say it looks like shit is major hyperbole. Never change, GAF.

Mind you it's a beta at least wait until the full game releases. Indeed, never change Gaf lol
