Karin and Rashid matches are a pain with Mika :(
Any tips? Karin has godly pokes and Rashid with that annoying jab-tornado spin move pressure

There's not much point in using it, yeah. An enemy can even jump out of cr.MK xx fireball on block and punish Ryu. St.MK is pretty good, though.

Hits low, more range than s. LK/cr. MP, better recovery than sweep, goes into super combo. I wouldn't call that "not much use". You don't have to cancel into fireball every time, you know...

Different use in this game than before. If they start jumping in the string use that to your advabtage and do cr.mk wait and shoryu. It's a button that probably needed to be changed in its utility to help people use his other buttons more often.

Did you try resetting your system? I had a long stretch without matches once, and started getting them normally after a reset. I'm getting plenty of matches right now (NA).

From max range, cr.mk xx fireball isn't a combo, so you can't use that to confirm super. You'd have to go straight into super. The range is on it so short, though, that I don't really feel comfortable using it in footsies.

And you should never ever cancel it into fireball anyway, cause it's horribly unsafe. But yeah, I understand what you're saying, it's not THAT bad, but damn I wish it was better!

And sweep is definitely a button you should never press as Ryu in this game unless it's a punish.

Yup, disconnected and tried it again, restarted the ps4 and tried it again, nothing.

It's not on my end.

I thought this was hilarious:

Some guy on Somethingawful.com said:
when I was at evo, combofiend briefly got stuck in an elevator with me and my friends, and between their questions about when's Blanka and Bison HK, I asked him what he thought about guilty gear. he said it "feels like work" and tbh a lot of the confusing nerfs and changes make a lot of sense remembering that

I love the lighting on Kanzuki Estate. If they fix the shadow, it would have great screenshots.

Having a hard time grasping the wake up game. Playing Chun, and it feels like I can't do an ex-sbk on my wake up sometimes. I'm chalking it up to just my timing being off (or playing on a pad, guh). The good news is it doesn't seem like many other people are grasping it either. Meaty anything on people's wake up works 60% of the time.

Growing pains!

I'm getting a match every couple of minutes, for the record. Also, I'm not sure whether it's because my opponents have been shit or not, but Cammy's Knee Bullet > cr.Mp seems to work pretty well as a frame trap.

Will experiment a bit more with it, though.

What's wrong with the shadows, the way they're straight to the left rather than toward/away from the camera?

Wasn't talking about that particular shot, but PS4 version has some dithering problem with shadows.

something like this where shadows show some weird pattern that makes image look bad.

SFV in its beta state, with "only" 12 characters, is already the best fighting game of all time.

High damage, easy stun, quick recovery and goat characters and moves.

Good luck to you, Tekken 7 :)

The GOAT fighting game is
Tekken X Streetfighter

Birdie is still pretty goood though he's not nearly as strong as in the first beta. Walk speed in V-Trigger is great. I do miss st.mp -> st.mp link though.

Where are you from? I'm getting them non-stop here. (US PC)

Boston. Had good matches all day yesterday. This morning, they all dried up. My connection is golden, it's something on the Beta's end.

Realized I had left the PS4 on for another 20 minutes while I watched the game. No matches there either (though that was probably for the best).

So this is only a ps4 problem? I noticed this immediately and I don't remember it from any of the promotional videos or pictures. It looks really bad.

But it's not present on PC version. So I have to assume it's technical issue with PS4 version.

Ooh.

Maybe it is the old "not enough memory for the shadow map" thing with consoles.

Could just be "shadow acne" that for some reason wasn't cleaned on the shader.

It was there in the first beta as well. Honestly think it's just a matter of it not being very visible in videos

I've finally learned how to hadoken consistently. The key is to press the punch AFTER the quarter circle, not simultaneously like I was trying to do.

Now onto learning how to Shoryuken.

I feel like an idiot everytime I get paired for a match, with my 60,000 rank vs someone in the 30,000s. But at least I'm learning.

That's the spirit.

Let's hope that in the final game they check the level or rank of the players to match people with similar skill.

As of now after losing 5 or 6 matches in a row I have been matched with a guy 20 levels and 40K ranks above me. It's something really frustrating for bad and new players, and boring for top players.

People should be matched to fight players of their own level as other games do, people would appreciate it.

Is there any way to view your total wins/losses? I'd like to know where I stand at the end of the beta.

Yeah, noticed it there too. Is it present in the PC version?

So Karin has a just frame version of her QCF+K -> P palm attack. Does more damage and pops them up higher so you can juggle after two of them in a row.

That's because wake ups arent invincible anymore. Learn to block fighter 5.

Wish some of the V-triggers weren't a one time use thing like Vega and Mika. Two like the stocks show would be nice. Those who activate a state have some advantage especially with how long some last. Rashid's being one time is not bad tho since it's so good.

Been seeing random framedrops on some stages.

Capcom really needs an option to depopulate the stages. Not only the background characters are annoying, they are animated at half framerate, and maybe are contributing to framedrops?

It will be training stage forever during tourneys :(

It's a beta. I'm sure there is more optimization that needs to be done. But yeah, I think they locked the background characters because of lower end rigs and for the PS4. I really hope theyhave an option to get rid of that shit in the PC version. It makes the stages just look horrible for me.

I think the reason ps4 version looks like shit is because it's a beta. They usually optimize stuff at last.

GGxrd on a similar engine, with much more details in the background and special effects everywhere, looks so much sharper.

Also, they did improve shadows since the first beta.

I keep getting this thing in the PC version where sometimes the versus screen and pre/post fight screens run half speed, but the match itself is fine.
