I love the lighting on Kanzuki Estate. If they fix the shadow, it would have great screenshots.

Are these from the PC Ver.

I mean, I have the PC version, and my computer is ass so I'm graced with "beauty" like this in order to keep 60fps:

So it's definitely not a one size fits all thing. I'd kill for either PS4 or peak PC graphics. Seriously, Karin's shadows are PIXELS. It scares the hell out of me tbh.

Jesus christ the rollback in this game.

You know what? I'm done with this beta. I'm done with it forever, it BETTER be way way WAY fucking better next time.

Lost 2 matches just now trying to learn a couple of things. I have less than an hour played right now, but I need to learn some things. I just wish I could do some solid training before being thrown in there, ya know? I feel like I have 1 combo down for Cammy, but that's about it. I'd love to try other characters, but because it's a beta I have to go with what I know I feel.

- Is Necalli's CA unblockable? I was holding back when someone pulled it on me but it went through.

The recording trick worked according to my friend who used it. Basically if you set the dummy to record and then start recording in any slot, as long as you're recording you won't get matches. So you can just mirror match or pick who you want to try out in slot 2 and go with that method.

Last night, the roll back was insane for one match. I never experienced it that bad. My character and his ...it was like they were performing moves from the future. Life bars would go up and down. He threw me three times in a row far faster than the games animations would normally allow. So crazy.

It will be the same if you're facing someone with a bad Internet.

Just like it's unplayable with a delay based netcode when you're facing someone with a bad internet.

How to forever play in practice:
1) Set p2 as the character you want to play
2) Set dummy to record
3) Start recording (lasts 100 seconds)
4) Practice during the recording
5) Restart the recording before 100 seconds end. You will never get an opponent during recordings.

Might give it a shot before the beta goes down.

Yeah, the jumping around is off-putting. I dunno what can fix it.

I finally got around to playing it last night. DAMN I love this version compared to the E3 build i got to play. Karin, R Mika, and Rashid are so fun to play. I don't feel cheated every time I lose compared to SF4 it's gonna change I know some characters have some amazing potential. I was getting matches every 10 seconds so didn't get to train. Playing on PC I don't have to buy a new arcade stick. I am getting crashes every now and then, I think it's the beta usually before an update

Posted this in the Character discussion thread but thought I'd ask here as well.

I feel like Karin sucks. I played a million Karins & didn't lose to a single one. I didn't touch her myself so I want some perspective from people who played her. Is she as bad as she seems?

I can only speak from playing Ken but he just ruined her Christmas. Could punish everything for good damage, could out footsie with better normals, could jump in easily at the right range. Her damage never was threatening, her gimmicks easy to get around, & her V-trigger was super undwhelming. She just seemed like a slighlty better version of Claw.

Her moves have some glaring flaws and can easily be stopped on block. Her mix-up is trash because they all lose to the same response (crouching block) her qcf+k is decent but takes a second to get used to, would never recommend without a hit confirm. And Guren isn't that strong either once you get used to Shenanigans.I mean you can show what you can do with her, but to get to that is more of the real battle than anything, and with the majority of your options and mix-ups getting stopped, it can seem shitty. But atleast her CA is easy to combo. Otherwise, I'd say on an equal play, she's not hard to stop, and like many characters a poke can end whatever she had planned.

Any other Bison players in this thread? Can you share your experience with me? For me at the moment, he feels like a weak ass tank.

Or they can just grab you when you block down. Still a mixup situation. Unless you're talking about her dash move followup moves and not actual resets... but who cares about those.

No, it's a hit.

I fucking hate roll back netcode. It makes everything so jumpy and I miss timings or I lose because it rolls me back before I did my input.

It sucks with a bad internet, but when you're facing someone with a great internet, it's way, way, waaaaay better than delay netcode.

Naw I'm talking about hopscotch, you can go through with that, but I dunno, most players seem to punish it right after block as well. Like there is an answer to everything she has imo. Which isn't bad, but the problem is when her whole game seems to get shut down by two responses, punish or crouch. But maybe I'm just tripping. To be honest, I think all the characters currently feel kinda fickle. Like the over all game feels better, but Dimps's design strategy feels questionable most of the time. I like it, but I can't say I agree with some of these design choices.

Ideally, the game would let you set a fixed delay so you can adjust that setting based on your tolerance for delay and rollbacks. Skullgirls lets you do this, and even hacks like Fightcade or the netplay hack for MBCC let you do this, but apparently there's not enough in the budget for that feature in SF5. :\

I find it kind of pathetic that most commercial fighting games are still completely outclasses by small indie and doujin projects. Doubly so since this shit has been happening for years with no real change. The netcode in SF5 still stinks; it's just a different kind of suck from SF4.

It's a better solution than not getting to input anything at all and just watching the game unfold in slow motion hoping at least a quarter of whatever you pressed shows up on the screen.

Delay netcode needs to die a quiet death regardless of how Kagemusha performs.

I'll take delay netcode any day. Shit teleporting everywhere is way more awful because at least I can tell what happened and I won't randomly lose because the netcode isn't being agreeable. This shit also makes me eyes and head hurt after awhile

If it lags on a delay netcode you'll still "randomly lose" because you'll lose control of your character so eh, I'll just agree to disagree.

I'm pretty happy with visuals of the PC beta. I wish they could offer a better antialiasing solution (anything higher than medium crushes detail), but overall I'd most prefer that they focus on performance/optimization. Would help mitigate subpar online experiences for everyone.

EDIT: Oh, and I recall an interview stating that the PC version was being handled internally, not by QLOC. So hopefully we'll get a final product on the level of the early MT Framework PC games.

Well, hopefully they get rid of those 30FPS backgrounds or give an option for people who are running on better hardware to switch them over to 60 or variable FPS. It's so jarring to the eyes. Hopefully they iron things out in performance for people who are having issues, but my laptop is slaying this game. I just hope they give you an option to lower the motion blur a tad. It's ridiculous. I still want all the post processing on high sans that. It needs to get cranked down to medium. Setting it on anything other than High seems to do away with it completely.

Loving this game. Much better than the last build we've got. The netcode is also really really good. Played international a lot and got 1 lag game out of 100. Ryu and Ken are my boys.

Mind you it's a beta at least wait until the full game releases. Indeed, never change Gaf lol

Seriously, it's 4-5 months away from release. We'll see what happens. And even then, the game looks good. I don't remember all of these 'the game looks like shit on PS4' comments during the last Beta. Just stinks of PC master race nonsense.

When the connection's good, the game feels really smooth, surprisingly more responsive than IV was. When it's bad...Ugh. Nothing makes me say "fuck this game" like seeing a guy walking away from me one moment, and hitting me coming down from a jump I never saw them do the next.

Well it's because people compare with how it's supposed to look.

Shitty shadows can't pass as artistic choice when you can see on PC how it looks.

Those shadows dude.

At the very least I can still what went wrong. I've had a ton of situations with roll back where I'm going for, say, a throw on wake up and the frames where they get up from being knocked down totally disappear. So all I see is them down then immediately hitting me with a crouching attack.

Kazunki Estate finally unlock!! This stage is great!

Have a match versus a Birdie with Karin, I lose but it was a great fight. I really love this game, Ken and especially Karin will be my main. (wait to try Laura...) I really love Karin game play and move list, best character for me.

It will be hard tomorrow without SFV :(

If I can add my two cents.

With people that play on Wifi or on shady connections or with their sisters youtubing.

The fight seems alright and all of a sudden teleports happens.

That's the worst thing ever.

With delayed netcode, if it was fine, and suddently fucks up, well you know what to expect, it's gonna slow down for a second or two.

On rollback this is horrendous because it's literally a luck game. You have no idea what's going on.

Once again I feel like this is a Guilty Gear Xrd hate thread, but their netcode after the patch is amazing, and delay based.

I don't think that necessarily applies in this game's case. Ran it on an i5 Alienware Alpha with a mixture of settings. Not sure how closely it compares to PS4, but I do know that for some things (shadows) it looks better.

Hopefully Digital Foundry does an analysis on the beta, which usually includes a build targeting like-for-like graphics with PS4.

What's your settings?

The game looks good on PS4 and PC, and 4K looks great but at the end of the day shit looks tight either way. Them colors though.

No one said it was artistic choice, and it can do with cleaning up but okay, chief. It looks terrible. Dog shit.

I'm really enjoying the beta, but it's clear they still gotta figure outt eh balance, some characters put you on the brink of a stun within a single combo, others have crazy mixups where it ends up being a guessing game, and grabs can be poked out of.

I hav trust in capcom to figure everything out, but SF5 is coming from USF4, arguably one of the best and most well balanced fighting games yet.

Mika and Birdie are ownage tho.

I'll always prefer rollback because it means my execution carries over. I'll never forget the first time I entered an offline tournament with Dormammu and dropped OTG Purification into Chaotic Flame like 3 times in a row because the timing was different. I'd rather not deal with that.

Ideally, Capcom lets people set the delay to ensure there are no jumpy matches. Skullgirls handles it this way, and it works perfectly. I can count the number of times Skullgirls has "jumped" on me on one hand.

Man, what can Birdie do against super aggressive players like Karin and Rashid? He has no "get off of me" move like a shoryuken or anything. His EX armored headbutt doesn't help much. I do great against careful players by catching them with my chain moves/grabs, but I always lose to people that are on my butt 24/7.
