The truth is, people haven't really had enough time to really move beyond a certain point with any character. So, everyone is relying on the basic stuff. That would be the case for any fighting game. I am not sure how this is specifically a fault of SFV...

When the final release is out in the wild you will be able to engage in player matches, which should help you significantly. Unfortunately, right now there is no way to control who we fight, which does lead to strings of opponents who are WAY below your skill level, or strings of opponents who are substantially better.

Of course. I bought the game anyway so it's not like I'm going anywhere.

I was just stating how it started to feel !

Plus gameplay is not even final.

I think Max is very reactionary, and while he is very entertaining, and I appreciate that he is bringing people into the FGC, it is unfortunate that he is so loose-lipped on these things. Nash has a lot of virtues, and arguably the best mix-ups in the game next to Karin right now. Really, just having a lot of fighting game experience will mean that you will win 90% of your matches online, no matter who you use.

Nash's main weakness is that he's all offense, but that should be expected, since you can't have amazing offense and great defense at the same time. He has no way to get out of pressure without spending V-Gauge, AFAIK.

His walk speed is pretty slow, as well - not an issue in my own opinion, but some others are irked by it. He isn't really a "footsies" character. He wants to get in with frame advantage to start his game, which requires a little space. His aerials are nice, too.

Not really defending Max as a fan, but there aren't a lot of known FGCer's who are jazzed about Nash, in either beta. I believe Gootecks (Or Floe? But I think he went stopped streaming before Beta 1 characters were live) was talking about Nash not being great either (And at E3/Beta 1, Max mained Nash and won one of their tournament things. When he played the next build that nerfed Nash, he had an entire vid dedicated to Nash's changes. So if anyone knows about Nash, it'd be Max)

re: Nash I feel like they may have given him invincibility on his v trigger, I tried to meaty him and he teleported right through it. I may have mistimed it though but I was shocked when it happened.

I don't think so. Yesterday during a match, I panicked and mashed out Karin's Vtrigger QCF+P Crossup variant, knocked a Nash right out of his teleport. I don't think it has invincibility...

When it lags in this game, do both players get it? Because I just played 3 extremely laggy matches back to back and the other player completely destroyed me since I never knew where the hell they were or what they were doing.

No one knows how good any of the characters are yet. No one knows what they are doing. It can take months, even years, to fully understand whether a character is good or not.

I am salty about changes Bison got, but I haven't said he isn't good.

Actually, there's a kind of rule in early fighting game tiers:
If you spend most of your time trying to convince people your character isn't actually good, the character is probably good.

If you spend most of your time trying to convince people your character is actually good, the character is probably bad.

The rule is right more often than I would like to admit. :-(

Capcom bout to blacklist your ass for this foul play
We need to teach everyone to do this so they leave Bison alone. I am still getting perfects because I can do c.MP into Knee Press across the entire damn stage without people blocking once.

I mean, just last night you said he was shit...

Think I'm done. Woke up not long ago, logged on and got two fights after a bit of waiting. Lost both to stupid shit like dropped combos and input mistakes.

Yeah I'm not trying to complain here but I've been in training mode for like an hour now with no connections. I was getting pretty consistent matches the other days of the beta. Oh well.
You try Chun at all? She feels really good to me (a guy who normally hates Chun)- I'm curious what SF3/4 players think of her current build.

I was REALLY clear in my response to you that by "shit", I was referring to his level of fun. I also posted in our same conversation that I think he is still strong; I only lost 3 matches as him last night out of about a hundred. I just don't enjoy the direction they're taking him in. I'll still play him on release if Sim and Zen turn out to be boring. Bison is still in my list of probable mains, even if I'm not happy with him right now.

None of my mains outside of Zato have ever been good in a fighting game before, so even if he did suck, I would probably still use him if I don't have any other options. :p

Have you tried restarting the PS4, or just re-selecting your character? I hypothesize that there are certain training mode options that lock out player search. Every time I messed with training mode options, matches went away.

Not one single game all day long...

Yeah, I woke up early hoping to get a few matches in before work. Unfortunately, it has been nothing but training mode for me. However, yesterday there was a straight five hour stretch where I couldn't get a single match. Other people were getting in fine, but no matter how many resets of the game, or returning to the main menu I did, I couldn't get a match. Thankfully, that DID end and I was able to get matches again. So, I think it probably has something to do with Capcom fiddling around the stuff behind the scenes, and cutting out certain regions.

That's how it was for me last night. Just nothing. Today matches all over the place.

Edit: Any Cammy tutorials?

Anyone got a list of Ken combos with his v-skill? It almost seems your better off not doing that unless you get a crush counter or you have V-trigger.

I've been out most of the weekend, any new info on Bison other than the nerf to inferno?

I mained Claw through all of SFIV and kept telling people he was shit. He never got good :(

I think she's really good. I like that even though she can combo cr lp in to st mp you need to be pretty close for it to matter at all and you can't hit more than one cr lp before it pushes them too far back to be useful.

I'm playing her most again... but I'm just so tired of playing the same character for years, you know? That said no one else is really making me love them.

For some reason I interpreted the phrase of "nerfed him to shit" meaning that they turned him in to shit. My bad.

And yeah, I've restarted it and excited/re-entered. Nothing. Oh well, not a big deal. I'm studying between matches anyways... so maybe this is is good.

Do you ?

Worst part is, she was stunned and I dropped input in my finisher kick, cost me the match.

I still cry. I actually punched my wall.

Lol I ran into him earlier as well, all I can say is fuck Karin, so frustrating to play the guessing game and losing in terms of poking abilities, Karin's got this standing kick that I swear just has infinite priority.

Any good Chun streamer/youtuber out there? She's not very popular apparently...

Saw Brolylegs was streaming a bit ago, dunno if he still is

First time using the PS4 share feature and it seems sad that I cannot just simply share my video to my PSN friends. I have to use Facebook or YouTube. Weird why can't I simply just send it as a message for people to view. What a strange oversight.

Any word if the next beta (if there is one) is going to have a little uninterrupted training mode access? Can't really deal with only getting a couple minutes of trying to learn any of the timing in this game before being thrown into a match.

If not I'm fine waiting until full release.

I mean, you have to upload it somewhere to share it. Are you suggesting that Sony provide a web player of sorts and unlimited hosting for the feature when other options already exist?

That's the v-trigger which is fine. The v-skill is really bad IMO. Either let the buff last if you get hit, or do something else...otherwise it's a big gamble for not much gain.

I personally really dig it, but it has to be used really sparingly, and you are never going to get too much of a charge out of it. I do really hope they buff it a little.

One strategy I use is to hit the opponent with R. Mika's Rope Throw, follow up with Nadeshko (holding towards the opponent, so she hits them as they are stumbling towards the wall), and immediately start using the v-skill as they are spinning in the air. It will power you up enough to do, like, one hundred and fifty more points of damage on your next throw. Of course, you are sacrificing the seventy points of guaranteed damage you get from the fierce kick followup (or the one fifty if you have a bar of meter, at which point you should just use it instead of this)...

Yeah, it really does need a little tweaking, eh?

I've been hearing a lot of stories about how fun the run cancel is but I haven't figured them out at all. I've been mostly doing V-trigger extending ones or that cr lk into tatsu one.

Yah Karin seems pretty dumb in this beta, hopefully she gets nerfed..
