Man, what can Birdie do against super aggressive players like Karin and Rashid? He has no "get off of me" move like a shoryuken or anything. His EX armored headbutt doesn't help much. I do great against careful players by catching them with my chain moves/grabs, but I always lose to people that are on my butt 24/7.

V-Reversal.

Well it's because people compare with how it's supposed to look.

Shitty shadows can't pass as artistic choice when you can see on PC how it looks.

Those shadows dude.

Wait I just noticed
Some of the effects are in front of the health bars, some are behind.
'The fuck does that work?

Defending is the first thing you need to do. You can't rely on a reversal to get out. Block their attack and then punish them for unsafe stuff. Use your faster buttons to keep them from advancing, hit them with your longer buttons to prevent them from getting in free. Make sure your Anti-Airs are on point as well.

If you can land it, an SPD is a good second to breath and then reset the situation as necessary. V-Reversal is there too if necessary.

What's your settings?

Textures on recommended, shadows on high, AA on mid, everything else low. 100% resolution scaling. *However* I'm playing at 1360x768 because that's the native res of my current TV (lol). I wouldn't be surprised if it started dropping frames at 1080p.

Hmm those Karin mix upa don't look hard to block at all. Also I hate videos that show combos & stun set ups off straight jump ins, so unpractical. Also that was a lot of resources for not that much damage. Though I can see some potential but nothing crazy. Kinda feel like she needs something more.

I'm ranked ~53k -.-

Matches seem to start smooth, and then get jumpy towards the end when they get weird. Mostly smooth, though.

I defend a lot! I'm very used to blocking strings and mixups via Marvel. But whenever I think I see a gap in their string, I try to poke, but they're so dang fast! Birdie's pokes are pretty slow. (crouching light punch is my go to move)

I guess my main problem is that I don't know exactly what their unsafe stuff is since I don't play those characters. You would think that when Rashid does his spinny-move, he'd be punishable, but he pokes immediately after that. Blah.

Any one else having trouble getting DP out with necalli with full meter? I keep getting super somehow. I have no issues getting the right comands out in SF3/4/GG so idk what's going on.

I have to say the game is starting to feel a bit boring after 4 days.

Probably because i don't find opponents on my level or a bit better.

It's either full noob or people much better than me.

Not having fun nor learning anything from both.

And against the good players, for the ones I faced, they all use the same defense and playstyle so it feels really repetitive.

If it's timed correctly, then I don't see why not but I'd need to test it.
Let me know if you have the sudden urge to test it. I would myself, but my wife is watching Netflix. :p

Bison players on SRK said that Head Stomp is airborn on frame 1, so it would be a pretty great counter to Mika setups.

What control method are you using? I had some issues with that trying to mash out a DP on a hori, its probably safer to use a controller with a dedicated down-forward command to just use the shortcut.

Man you can jump in between Karin qcb k m and h versions? I feel like such an idiot for only ever going for jabs

Is she? I haven't gotten around to her yet but I do know she was incredibly ridiculous pre-nerfs and was probably top tier in the last beta.

1.She can't TK ex dive-kick anymore (hell she can only do EX dk jumping forward now lol)
2.She lost her back hp
3.Can't link jabs into cr.mp

There might be more but that's all I got rn.

Happens on stick and pad. I wish they'd give us an input option to remove shortcuts.

That's all I can think of but those 3 alone are pretty fucking major. I've been making do without them so far, and winning 80% of my matches as Cammy, but it still sucks a bit. That said she's fun to play as. Just doesn't have anywhere near as many options as before.

Weirdly enough, finding Ken far more fun to play. Last time I used a shoto was Alpha 3.

Cammy is still good she doesn't feel cheap like before
If ain't not cheap it's not fun lol

I thought I'd be playing Karin the majority of the time but Ken is too dope.

Those run cancel combos are too fun to pass up.

I think too much people put too much stock into linking crom cr mp. I found using st mp working fine as well as yousue lk into mk. I just think far too many people are playing this game like 4 and them removing things like that is key. back HP is stupid though. Still having lots of fun with her.

Well that last one with the jab happened to a lot of people but I actually think that dive kick nerf was actually really needed. Completely forgot what her back hp was though.

Any good combos you can recommend that utilise quick step?

The truth is, people haven't really had enough time to really move beyond a certain point with any character. So, everyone is relying on the basic stuff. That would be the case for any fighting game. I am not sure how this is specifically a fault of SFV...

When the final release is out in the wild you will be able to engage in player matches, which should help you significantly. Unfortunately, right now there is no way to control who we fight, which does lead to strings of opponents who are WAY below your skill level, or strings of opponents who are substantially better.

About to go against rank #29.

Welp.

Edit: A Ryu. The match ended up being a lot closer than I expected, against "OmegaNITRO." Still lost both rounds straight.

I keep hitting the share button on my ds4 in the middle of matches ; ; need an option to disable it until they get stick support up and running.

Was watching Max stream on Twitch last night and discovered that Nash is no longer a charge character. I loved Guile and Nash in previous SF games but eventually got tired of being anchored and needing to pre-charge moves, killing any kind of on the fly, last minute adjustments (I'm not a three moves ahead type of player). I think I found my main, we'll see. Either way, I'm excited about him.

Is there any concerns about Nash that anyone has? Max repeatedly mentioned that the only reason he was winning with Nash was because nobody knows how he plays. He made it sound like Nash was hot garbage and he shouldn't be winning with him. What do you guys think?

I think Max is very reactionary, and while he is very entertaining, and I appreciate that he is bringing people into the FGC, it is unfortunate that he is so loose-lipped on these things. Nash has a lot of virtues, and arguably the best mix-ups in the game next to Karin right now. Really, just having a lot of fighting game experience will mean that you will win 90% of your matches online, no matter who you use.

Nash's main weakness is that he's all offense, but that should be expected, since you can't have amazing offense and great defense at the same time. He has no way to get out of pressure without spending V-Gauge, AFAIK.

His walk speed is pretty slow, as well - not an issue in my own opinion, but some others are irked by it. He isn't really a "footsies" character. He wants to get in with frame advantage to start his game, which requires a little space. His aerials are nice, too.

Just realized Karin's CA has some suspicious similarities to Dan's Ultra 1. Maybe this explains the pink ninjas in her stage.

re: Nash I feel like they may have given him invincibility on his v trigger, I tried to meaty him and he teleported right through it. I may have mistimed it though but I was shocked when it happened.
