It appears it is for now. Kind of weak considering this wasn't part of the scheduled maintenance. I'm sure it will be back up in an hour or a few. Probably just down because they updated the build and have to do something on their end to make it live.

From what I've heard, it lasts until your first throw, even if you whiff, as well as going away if you get hit.

The PC preload is pretty small... Maybe I'm crazy, but I'd expect it to be more than 1.8 gigs.
I assume it only has the unlocked content (currently available characters and stages at this point of the beta) and you'll download updates with the additional characters they unlock over time.

But it's pretty likely that they have code somewhere that calls these files/folders so maybe there data miners can find info about characters not included in the beta. Maybe even DLC characters not included in the initial 16.

That soon eh?
Excellent. Don't know why i thought much later.

Because the blog post said so, and still says so.

6pm PST, 9pm EST. Not sure why they felt the need to post it in military time. That might be what's leading to confusion.

Wait, wasnt the beta suppose to officially start on the 22nd and run through the 26th?

Got bumped a day earlier and PC players are being brought in earlier than originally planned as well.

Beta 2 schedule (subject to change):

10/21/15 18:00 PST (10/22 02:00 BST/10:00 JST) – The second SFV beta begins for PS4 users. Characters available: Ken, Necalli, Vega, R. Mika
10/22/15 14:00 PST (22:00 BST/ 10/23 06:00 JST) – Servers down for scheduled maintenance for 12 hours.
10/23/15 02:00 PST (10:00 BST/18:00 JST) – Servers back online. Rashid unlocked.
10/23/15 09:00 PST (17:00 BST/ 10/24 01:00 JST) – The second SFV beta begins for both PC and PS4 users (cross-platform play).
10/23/15 17:00 PST (10/24 01:00 BST/09:00 JST) – Karin unlocked.
10/24/15 04:00 PST (12:00 BST/20:00 JST) – Servers down for scheduled maintenance for 10 hours.
10/24/15 14:00 PST (22:00 BST/ 10/25 06:00 JST) – Servers back online.
10/25/15 16:00 PST (10/26 0:00 BST/ 08:00 JST) – Beta 2 concludes.

Got in some Necalli play before it went down. Actually won a couple of matches. =D R. Mika is so bomb though but looking forward to playing them all. I'm currently trying to convince myself to preorder the PC version to test the beta on my system @ 1440p. Mmmm...

Read what I said again.

That combo is meterless, unless you're considering V-trigger as a metered combo, in which case take out Nadeshiko.

Any of these can start with a jump in or from standing:

lp, mk (I think, I'm going off memory), essentially a tick throw setup on block
lk lp buttsmash
lk lp mp buttsmash
mp mp buttsmash
mp hp buttsmash
f+hp, wap

(corner) rope, f+hp, wap

For a grappler, she's got a lot of combos ... meterless.

Bruh, he said the lack of meterless combos for everyone BUT mika.

Oops, lol. In that case I guess the question is: everyone meaning Necalli and Vega, or everyone including the previous beta characters? Vega is pretty clearly meant to be reliant on meter since he has such an awesome super (and V-trigger!), Necalli I just don't understand how to use at all yet, so idk. He almost feels like a less troll-y Blanka to me. The previous characters certainly had plenty of combos.

Catching people slippin' with Mika's grabs is so satisfying. I bodied a Vega player last night by just letting him know that I had my grab skills on lock after pretending like I didn't know how to play Mika. I think her ability to change playstyles within the scope her character is what will make her a strong character.

What's weak about it being down when it wasn't even supposed to be up yet?

The previous characters certainly had plenty of combos.

They changed that though in the newer builds.

Edit: I think besides wingless airplane, most of Mika's grabs are icing on the cake, because you can play her mostly without them and still be a threat. She's for sure not a classic grappler.

Did they cut much aside from combos starting with light attacks?

I haven't played it myself but Cammy lost a few combos. Doesn't mean in the final game, there won't be any new then. That's a bit of the downside of the beta. People discover cool stuff and capcom is like "ruh-oh this might be bad" and takes it out.

Necalli has t-rex arms length normals, slow walk speed and no slide.
Sadly he is no Blanka.

Ah, I knew they took away the jab starters, but I didn't think characters got drastically changed otherwise. I guess I won't know until the game comes out since the previous characters won't be in this round of beta testing.

I agree about Mika's throws, the damage is what surprised me. Considering how effective she can be before her ground grabs, I was expecting them to be a little less powerful.

Her Irish Whip is essentially a 5th special.

The grapplers (+ OG Beta Bison) seem to have much higher damage/stun overall than the non-grapplers right now. The stun especially feels great w/ them in a way it sometimes doesn't for the other characters.

I said OUTSIDE of Mika.

That means everyone BUT Mika.

Mika is an amazing character with tons of possibilities. My comment was directed at the rest.

I love characters focused on stun. Necro 4 life.

Thank god we can deal with all those zoners though!...oh wait.

lol yeah, ThirtyPlus got me right. I somehow misread twice. I still think there are a lot of combos for the other characters. I know you said meterless, but the meters are dynamic for a reason, I guess. Some characters will be more meter based (Chun, Vega?), but that's okay as long as they build it quickly, which at least Chun does. I find Mika builds meter slowly because she doesn't have to throw out a bunch of specials, and even with that she only gets 1 attack before the V-Trigger is gone, but obviously the tradeoff is still in her favor.

Yeah I agree, but my point was that the flow of this beta felt much different.

For instance I am not a fan of removing lights into mediums :/ .

Also there are a lot of moves that, honestly, should be cancellable into specials that are not, for the new characters.

What's the point of staggering normals if you literally can't follow up anything ? It was clearly nerfed and it feels frustrating. In BETA 1 those moves let you combo afterwards.

Mika's EX punch grab has a ton of range. I want to say that it's about triple the range of generic throws.

On another note, the removal of most of the light into medium links is one of the things that I like the most about this game so far. That shit made SFIV such a chore to both play and watch.

Got a mini heart attack when the beta appeared in my steam list. I downloaded it asap, took my fightstick whilst it was downloading and only afterwards realized it was just a pre-load haha.

I do expect it to go up tommorow though.
