Can you go through Rashid's V - Skill like a normal projectile, with like Necalli's charge forward move?
Don't know about Nicalli's charge since it armors through projectiles, but projectile invincible moves like Vegas EX roll go through it.

I get an error and can't login to the game servers whenever I use my real ip address. It's almost like i'm ip banned or something. I tried a vpn and I got in just fine........

You know how it works.

When a game ships DLC are already worked on. For fighters you usually need files already there if you intend to release characters early on.

Look at LEO for Guilty Gear, he was on the disc but completely unfinished until the update arrived.

This is exactly the same here.

No day one DLC. More like month 1 or month 2 DLC, but the characters are already being worked on to be ready early.

Their models will most likely be on disc , as well as their voice, like Guilty Gear. The AI and actual movesets won't be.

And pretty sure Zen is the boss character.

Also, I had matches consistently today. But now for more than one hour I got nothing. Anyone else ?

Also, it's been like 3 hours, so I expect someone's found a way to make it so I can just play training mode.

Why would you want to just play training mode in a network test of a competitive series? Whatever you learn isn't going to make you some master of the game when it actually releases, since a bunch of things are going to change between now and then and you'll be out of practice. You'd kind of be wasting your time. Just play and have fun.

Less matches since the bros came on, but the rankings have definitely increased in number, so many people on the leaderboard right now.....

Man, I'm so bad but I'm loving Rashid. (normally play Ken on USFIV) The game is really fun and I'm looking forward towards release now. And net code has been great for me, no lag really at all. Some disconnects here and there but when I can actually get a match it's fine.

Good job so far Capcom.

Somehow, this game looks better without anti aliasing. Seriously, Whatever they're using is completely busted at high, blurring everything to shit and adding a ton of ghosting. What the heck happened to normal MSAA?
That's weird. Are you sure it's the AA and not post-processing, which I'm assuming is a motion blur setting? I may have no idea what I'm talking about.

They didn't.
When Matt Dahlgren states that there are no additional purchases required on day 1 to play the full roster straight out of the box they are most definitely saying that. (Cosmetic DLC is obviously an entirely different matter.)

Yes, I believe it was "no on-disc DLC" that they spoke about.

Substantial day-one DLC (i.e. fully-playable characters) would only be marginally better, imo. I'm none too enthused about it when other pubs do it, and won't be making any excuses for it in SF's case either :p

He made a point to say that the full roster you get when you buy the game was the 16. You get 16 characters in the core product with your purchase, fully playable, no unlocks. They clearly defined the 16 as the full roster for the core game purchase.

They did not give any specifics regarding to the timing of additional characters outside the 16 you get by buying the game.

Finally got some time to play. Played about 20 matches with Rashid, and I think his pretty fun. Anyone got some decent combos with V-trigger, only one I tried was j.hp,c.hp,mp,V-trigger

Oh and the Ken army is real lol. Only played two Mika's, and the rest were Ken's.

I'm sure there will be
for you to spend your fight money on so that you don't have any for new characters and have to buy them with real money

They said they were going to be really nice to the community when it comes to characters and stages (IE: no unreasonable grinding required) and only paywall cosmetic stuff like costumes.

That's very generous! I fully expected (and was happy) to pay for additional fighter packs (same way I paid for Super and Ultra). Getting them as a reward for just playing a game I love and would play anyways, well, that just makes Street Fighter V the cheapest Street Fighter of all time..crazy!!

AFAIC, this game is an amazing, amazing value.

Despite what some nostalgic grandpas said, this version of Ken is cooler than ever. If we already had a Ken army in the past despite the blandness of Ryu like design, prepare for the worst at launch...

Because I like learning and executing combos more than I like fighting people, especially during a "network test." "Play and have fun" means dicking around in training mode for me.

It's actually been more diverse for me, I've found a Vega, Rashid and Mika so far (since I came back home an hour ago).
Also, couldn't stop from laughing at this Vegas username: DOWNBACKBOYZ

No, it's definitely the antialiasing. Setting it to medium gets rid of the ghosting, presumably because there's no temporal AA. Setting it to low doesn't look bad at all, because the way the game renders just makes aliasing less visible.

New street fighter player here, as expected I'm getting eviscerated online on PC. My only experience with fighting games is getting okayish at Rising Thunder (simplified street fighter with robots) earlier this year. I watched the cross counter beginner fundamentals series linked in the OP, which focuses on Ryu basics (crouching medium kick > fireball, etc.). Does this advice mostly carry over to Ken?

If not, what's the best character in this beta to just practice 3-4 moves for and see how far I get? Thanks!

Y dc in a beta smh.

Gotta make sure it works! lol. It's actually probably useful for Capcom. I imagine they'll punish DC'ers this time around.

Releasing a long-term game without day one DLC is kinda backwards in this day and age tbh. Would I prefer it? Sure, but I wouldn't blame Capcom (or any company) one bit as long as the core/existing stuff is already good and the DLC doesn't give a large competitive advantage. With that said, I don't believe that brand new Twitter account for now.

Any advice against Mika players?

I get absolutely wrecked fighting her for some reason.

Really depends who you're using. You have to zone her. If you get in the corner, I feel sorry for you. If you can make them waste Nadeshiko you can breathe a bit. Full to mid screen projectiles, vary the timing & know that if they try a wap to jump over it they're vulnerable for a moment after they land. Force the action from a distance, and if she gets in close you need to bail out. If you're using Vega, his qcb claw move should be a godsend, since it pushes him back a safe distance. If Rashid, you can spam his projectiles and flying kick unless they have EX meter and choose to do the buttsmash on block. If Necalli, errr... I only played once with him online, but I'd imagine you want to go into his V-Trigger asap since he gets those insane dashes.

It absolutely does ;) Works for other characters as well!

Mika's V-Trigger is so good. People are so petrified of Nadeshiko's dropkicks that I can basically do whatever I want. Charge my grabs, walk up command grab, go for goofy cross-ups. Not to mention how awesome of a combo tool it is.

Mika is so much fun. This might actually be the first game where I stick with the character I plan on maining prior to release.

no it doesn't reaaaaally carry to ken, superficially yes, but ken needs to be played like ken. Full rushdown with runs, overheads and random shoryukens to ruin the opponents defense plans.

I would go with Rashid if I were you. Easy to pick up.

So how long should I expect to wait for a match? I haven't had much time to play but so far I've had 0 matches since the beta launched. I've been sitting in training for about 15 minutes now.

The first phase I had no issues.

Yeah I don't mind all the Ken's at all; I think he's fun to fight, and he does look cool. It's also nice to get all these CC's from blocking DP's :)

How does the guard action thing work?

I recorded Ken shoryukening me with a medium dp with a 0.3 response, yet it never triggers. (yeah, I set that slot in the guard recovery actions). It just says that it is trying to do the slot #1 but nothing happens.

Other shoryukens I recorded do trigger sometimes.

What's the deal.

Is there a better point-blank confirm from a low for un-triggered Ken then low short-jab xx(super/HP DP)? Low forward into fireball is unsafe up close.

That 3s-style confirming, though.
