Street Fighter V Beta 2 Thread: Welcome, future 21007s! Now on PC!

I suck horribly at this game no matter how hard I try, everyone playing R.Mika just stomps me every time. I just don't understand the mechanics enough I guess, let alone execute the things I learn in training mode. I really would like to be decent at a fighting game, this one has my interest, I love how it looks.

I think I give up for now. Still buying the game day one though. I hope they have ranked set-ups where I can play against other terrible players so I can possibly get a win.

Thank you Capcom for helping me put off my essay until Sunday night. You're the greatest.

I like Karin but I'm probably gonna focus on Mika (and Birdie) unless they add a bunch of stuff before release. I feel like she needs a few more ways to combo without the use of V-Trigger to put her in a good spot.

Ok, so as a guy that hasn't played a 2D fighting game since the 2nd iteration of Blazblue it appears the game just doesn't want to give me any time to figure out what the fuck I'm doing. It took 3 matches of me getting beat up on to have enough time in training mode to even perform all of Blanka-lite's moves. Switched to R. Mika and while I like her personality, as soon as I start trying to figure her out in training mode I'm back in another battle, getting my ass kicked. I haven't won a single set because surprise surprise, I'm terrible at the game. I'm not willing to try to improve in training mode 1 minute at a time until I have to suffer yet another assbeating cause I have no idea how to use my character.

PC performance on my Geforce GTX 670 2gb looks pretty good. The game defaulted to medium settings on everything (1080p), and who am I to argue when I don't have an easy way to test without going through longass loading screens.

Can we talk about the loading screens? I must be spoiled by Smash because goddamn they are long. I hope Capcom at least makes them quicker on PC vs PC, or while playing single player (they won't), cause there's no way it takes this long for my PC to load the stage.

Rant over, will have to watch some tutorials on youtube or something cause I'm not going back without a good idea of what I'm doing, fuck the 1 minute training mode.

While I'm not going to comment on the masterpiece, I will say he's wrong about SF4 being easy to learn.

The disconnects of players might be of their client crashing. At seemingly random times players who are using windows 10 crash to desktop. It's happening to me and it's super annoying. It's so much fun but got damn the crashes.

This happens with every new fighting game. People (even top players) always think they have things figured out really fast really easy. Also, SFIV is absolutely not easy to learn. Quite the contrary. I like SFIV, but god damn was it super painful to learn it after not having played fighters seriously for over a decade.

People also tend to forget that SF IV vanilla was much more basic than what we got with new iterations over the years.

Heck people said SF IV vanilla was easy as far as execution goes back then. Nowdays most people say that SF IV is a one frame link hellhole.

Well he IS Infiltration, the guy who mastered several characters to top8 level.

He should play Anime fighers though if he likes higher ceiling.

i'm bummed I can't play at the moment, too laggy to even hold a proper match. i had been practicing with Mika all day and finally got into a good position with her, then bam lag spikes :L she is so fun!

While I respect Infiltration's initial impressions more than most, it's too early to tell. We don't know shit about how the metagame will play out, and Infiltration even said that he hopes he's wrong.

People always jump to conclusions. Every iteration. Alpha, III, CvS, Marvel, IV. It'll happen again with V, like clockwork. And time and again the initial impressions are always laughably incorrect.

Dude knows how to play nearly every SF4 character at a tournament level. Of course the game is easy for him to master of all people.

The game's also not out yet and the full roster hasn't been revealed.

It seems like some people are having this problem, and I am too. On the main menu, everything seems to work fine, but as soon as I go to pick a character everything loads veeery slow, and in game it's like playing under water. It has actually become a little better some times when playing matches online, but not much.

I have updated drivers, I have reinstalled game, I have both tried lowest settings (Even though I shouldn't need this) I have tried recommended settings and above. There is NO difference. So at high settings and at lowest settings, the game is completely the same to me. Under water with slowdowns.

Specs:
Asus ROG
GTX 980M
16GB Ram
i7-4710HQ

Does anyone have any ideas of what I can try to make it work?

The loading times wouldn't be as annoying if I wasn't looking at them constantly because of switching back and forth from training to fighting. I was looking forward to playing the beta over the weekend but the situation is just no good for me, I need a controlled environment to land on my feet here. I'm watching some youtube videos on SF fundamentals in the meantime and will attempt to play some more tomorrow, but it looks like I'll be waiting for release to put actual time into the game. Which is too bad, cause I dropped money on pre-ordering this for the beta. Oh well.

What a thoughtless post. It is indeed a beta. I can't say I've played many fighting game betas, but not having access to a training mode sans interruptions kinda sucks. Wish I was having the connection issues everyone was complaining about days ago, then I'd have enough time to figure things out. I hope you were there telling those people who couldn't find a match that it was a beta too, just so we know all complaints will be equally dismissed.

This is stupid fighting people 20k ranks above you.

Yea I kinda had a problem with this. I'm ranked in like the top 200 and getting matched up vs people who were unranked or massively low rank all the time. Not really fun for either side. I just chalked it up to being a beta and hoping for release it will match people up better.

I agree with loading times beeing a tad long curently. Then again, the game is still months out and optimization is in progress.

The beta is built around and for network testing, they have said that from the very beginning. It's aim wasn't to give people convenient methods to get good at the game. It was your choice to participate in a beta that was built around testing network infrastructure.

Yes, and no one really utilized them much in the beginning. Very rarely were they essential to playing a character well. Later characters were build vastly different as they required you to learn the hard stuff to play at a competent level(only talking execution here).
The initial roster was much easier to get good at than the later added characters.

I like Vega vs cpu Rashid at level 8. Flying festival. I need to play Mika and Karin more. I like Karin a lot though I need to get that dash with kick into punch move down.

The Beta has been modded to work offline. Not sure if anyone has posted this info yet. Very limited functionality though and it seems it won't work once the actual beta ends so not sure how useful this is.

Yeah yeah I know, I just wanted to vent, and was too salty from not having time to figure my shit out to respond in good humor. Wish they would have let me pause the match-making even for just 5 minutes. Maybe as the PC beta goes on there'll be a trick found to make that happen... but maybe that's wishful thinking.

On a side note, I had forgotten how big and heavy my arcade stick is.
