I think it's down now, dammit I wanted to get some SFV in before I had to leave for most of the day and didn't really play yesterday. Barely even touched Karin.

Damn.. wanted at least one more game before bed lol.

I had like a 100 game win streak with R Mika earlier. She is fun as hell. Always thought I would like her, but not this much.

Lost a bunch with Karin once she got unlocked, but I'm winning most games now. She's very fun and has a lot of options, but I'm still not great at setting up stuff in an actual match.

I'm sending this to Eventhubs.

Haven't used much of Karin yet, bht last night I was wondering, does her qcfK dash to P have just frame properties or something? Or is it purely distance? Sometimes the launcher would merely launch Ken, sometimes it would make him flip. CH was set to off, too. Even without that, she felt like I was playing Tekken, weirdly.

Pretty sure it has JF yeah. AFAIK you can only juggle out of it if you cancel it fast enough.

No that long maintenance is cancelled

It will be back up in 10 minutes.
Oh shit you're right, I just got up and hadn't seen the post from the sfvserver twitter:
The server maintenance previously scheduled for 4:00am - 2:00pm PST will be cancelled to make up for all the troubles we've caused y'all. ;)

Brilliant! I can't wait to hop back on in a few minutes , thanks!

With beta 2 being a whole different roster, at first I thought it was to force people to play new characters to test them out. It still could be that, but what if they are working on a LoL type rotation of "free characters" and you had to "buy characters" with fight money that you wanted to play with week over week. Meaning day 1 you don't have access to all characters...

That'd be cool, if the game cost as much upfront as LoL. But as I spent £45 on the game, I fully expect all characters at launch, and saying otherwise is just scaremongering.

That would be a shit move to do by Capcom for a full-priced game.

Seems a very large assumption. Pretty sure all 16 initial characters are available at launch.

I've always suspected this for DLC characters rather than the starting roster. Would be awful for starting roster for a paid for game...

They already said you would have access to all 16 characters day 1.

Dumb and almost certainly not going to happen. However, I am not against Capcom working on a F2P version, that would actually bring a lot of new players into the fold. Maybe a couple years down the line?

you are paying 60 USD for the game, not just downloading for free and having to buy characters or packs of content like KI, KI has already that model and done very well, since you payed 60USD for SFV that model is just out of the question

Cool Reddit story bro.

'Cept Capcom already has builds with all of the characters so far in tact and already said they are pumping out the 16 at launch. In addition to that, they've already commented on why we are using these characters and not the old ones too.

That's a ridiculous rumor based on random speculation. There's no way in hell that's true.

Just as far fetched as "well, the characters from the last beta aren't in this one, so they must have dumped them and are just running with these guys now".

It baffles me how someone can know about and be in the beta, yet not keep up with the game and avoid the simplest pieces of information.

Hmm, after trying out Karin for 2-3 hours, I am not convinced. Her normals are pretty bad compared to most of the other characters normals in beta round 2. Getting something going with her seems to be pretty tricky as her offensive tools are kind of straight forward which makes it hard to get through defense. Not digging her so far.

Back to R Mika, our one true savior!

After a few matches with Karin I'm loving her as much if not more than I thought I would. Her normals are great and her specials also good and that's even without the V trigger. The amount of special cancels into super/CA you can do are what I'm loving the most. That dash forward into launcher into super I'm having some issues with the timing of but when I get off it of it's magical.

I gotta say thus far in both betas there hasn't been a single character I don't enjoy for some reason. Everyone thus far has their own cool stuff and I can really appreciate that.

Completely disagree

If you haven't done so yet, you can change characters voices to JP in the settings. First thing I did.

Still can't get my controller to work. I had to play keyboard for my first match. It did not end well. Not sure how much I can take this.

The more I play Karin, the more I think she needs better tools to get her combo game going. st MP just doesn't cut it I think.

"No boobs, no ass. Just boring"

Karin is not Infiltration approved.

His words are as empty as his soul. How can you not love her every single time you do her super? :')

Mika is more fun to play, imo, but I just love Karin so much. Can't help but OOOHOHOHOHOHO with her.

Long term this is definitely the goal. But the ki style free demo won't hit for a while.

Rashid felt a billion time better than Necalli in neutral even tho I was just randoming with no practice cause of the faster matchmaker.

If they went free to play, then this could happen.

No rotating characters after I just dropped 60 bucks!!! lol.

Or they will make a free version in a year. SF5: Revolution of Lost Swords.

Where did I see Karin's instant QCF K~P giving a faster and stronger version before? It's a Tekken thing, right? I love it. Also puts our plinking habits to good use :p

Karin seems to have had a big influence from SFXT LiLi. (The elaborate EX moves, 3-part super bar and simplified inputs were also in that game.)

Sixfortyfive

He who pursues two rabbits gets two rabbits.
Am I crazy or has proximity guard been reduced overall? It still seems to be there but it's not bothering me nearly as much as in past SFs.

Oh yeah, even their battle stance is similar. The EX thing is spot on.

Yep. Justframes are generally a namco thing, though this isn't nearly as hard as Electric Wind God Fist. O:

Also, if anyone's interested, I'm doing an early morning stream: www.twitch.tv/krackatoa

I'm glad I don't play Tekken then, haha. It's very easy to do it by itself or in training mode, but hit confirming a c.MK into it is a bit tricky. Is it safe? If it's safe, fuck hit confirming.

It's something I suggested while ago. It would be a great idea both for the players and for Capcom.
