again I think the number of "casuals" (really starting to hate this word as people are really using it as a stand in for idiot in their statements) who will buy this game just because of the story mode is a lot lower than people are acting like. I think the bulk of the casual base that will buy this game are the same dudes/dudettes who bought SFIV, played for a month and then moved on the next game periodically returning when updates and shit dropped.

People also are making it seem like the only reason MKX sold was the story mode. It is also a pretty dang good fighting game in a pretty popular series (and well advertised). Also the base that did buy MKX only for the story probably did so because they liked MK9's story. We are legit just finding out that SFV has a story outside of struggle visual novel...I don't think anybody who was in, will suddenly drop out or vise versa.

The approach here is also different. MKX is probably done getting updates after this next pack as Netherealm probably will move on to injustice. SFV will be Capcom's money maker for the next 5 years. That means having things like this story mode to either keep the "casuals" on board or come back or come in for the first time is super important,no?

This is stupid. Either release the game with a proper story mode or don't bother putting it in. Story mode is for casual players and by the time June roles around the casuals will have moved on. You can't expect such a bare bones package to keep the average consumer interested for 4 months.

It is not completely pointless, i imagine there are a lot of people who are on the fence and might buy the game because of the story mode and if it is good word of mouth might bring in even more players later but i agree that if the complete story mode was ready at launch it would probably attract a lot more casual players.
I think that a good story mode would give more value to the sf brand and the characters.
Sure most of the fgc and people that are into sf already will buy it and the community will be probably be healthy anyway but it would be a lot better for everyone if the game became even more popular than that.

The biggest advantage of being a post release addition is they can keep adding cinematic story mode content for the entire duration they support the game, and by the next generation we can have a story mode with MK production value and several times that length where the DLC characters get to participate and people will come back to the mode for the new content added over time, as opposed to having it all up front and needing to wait until the next game for more.

The art looks great here, in some scenes he seems he's not even trying tho.

Double post sorry, I can't combine it on my phone right now.

This is so awful. I don't know how they have the gall to include it in a multi-million cost project.

He had to draw story panels for every character in the game. It's the difference between a cover artist in comics and the artists who have to draw every panel.

Not his best work (imo), but I'm assuming there's a bit there and he had a timeline to get things done.
