It had to end with a Ryu vs. Ken fight. Of course it did.
It was fun, and better than I expcted, but not as dumb as I had hoped. Could have done with a bit more dumb. Also, some characters were neglected a little too much, like Chun-Li, Guile, and Birdie. I would have liked to see Birdie have a reluctant hero moment or something.
Ryu ending up that powerful, storywise, is kind of interesting. His Hadokens being able to pass through friendlies is a pretty cool way to show just how much he's in control now. I think I'm gonna like new Ryu. And it does explain, yes, why Akuma stopped chasing him. Even if he probably should face Ryu as a matter of professional courtesy.
I found the last few fights a little difficult, but I'm not good at Street Fighter. But the good old "block, then MP Shoryuken, otherwise Hadoken" plan fo Ryu vs. CPU is still useful enough. The AI got some combos if it gets a hit, though.
Overall, I liked it. And that was Gill at the end. I never really cared much for Stret Fighter 3's cast, but Capcom... if you release a second season of story mode covering Street Fighter 3's timeline, I'm in. For money, too. Real money, not just Fight Money.
