Ok, I've just confirmed that after almost 2 years of playing this game it just doesn't click with me. The fact that I have not found a main yet also proves it. I just can't seem to find a way to play the game how I want it to be.
Not to bring up the x amount of frames of lag in the game again (and I'm certainly not using it as an excuse), but I certainly feel like I can't react/respond quickly enough and I have a lot of "wtf, I blocked that" or dp's just not coming out fast enough. Does anyone have this feeling as well (compared to previous SF games or other fighters)?
It depends what you're trying to react to. If you're trying to react to individual attacks, that's not going to work for anything but the very slowest ones. The key is to expect an attack or set of attacks by recognizing the situation you're in. That comes simply from spending enough time playing.
As for DPs, the same applies. Generally you have to expect the jump in and the DP has to be at the forefront of your mind. If you aren't ready and you see a jump and then try to DP on reaction, chances are good that you'll trade or eat the jump in. Input lag is partly to blame but it's also just the case that anti- airing with heavy or special attacks can be hard if you don't practice it a lot.
When it comes to blocking I only feel like "Hey i blocked that" when the net code is acting up. Because like I said I'm not trying to block once I know they are attacking, I'm prepared to block when they are in range.
