I dont think so? I believe one of the A&E channels turned into VICE. Unless H2 was part of A&E.

H2 is indeed Vice now. The channel is still under A&E's umbrella. So yes, Maklershed, if you want to catch some shows about weed replayed on a loop, that's the place!

I'm sure it will get better over time!

I'm trying to remember the name of a movie from back when you could rent VHS tapes, so late 80's early 90's likely.

The description I have is, it was a white cover and had a bunch of firearms (handguns I'm pretty sure) and grenades on it going down both sides of the cover vertically.

I used to see this movie all the time in a convenience store my dad rented an NES for me before buying one lol

I'm trying to fix brightness/contrast on my monitor so I'm thinking that's the issue, but any recommended settings? The problem I'm having is that the font seems to have a shadow or 'bleed' heavily. Thank you for any help you can provide.

So, I've got a rather complex question, I think. I ordered a television from Amazon. The biggest, most expensive set I've ever bought. Nothing extravagant, mind you. Forty inches and a smidge over $200 USD, but my current TV is around 20 inches. My girlfriend and I decided it would be great to have something nice to game and watch movies on.

I didn't find anything particularly cheaper on Amazon than I would have at my local Walmart but I'm new to Prime and wanted to take advantage of that sweet shipping deal. So I order it, and it says it'll arrive on February 29. That's cool. I'm excited. The spotty tracking says it's a few towns away that day and that it's on course for delivery.

It never comes. Later that day the shipping date changes to March 3, and says if I don't receive it by then to contact Amazon for a refund.

On the morning of March 2 it says my television is in-state again! However March 3 is ending very shortly and nothing. I contacted Amazon and told them what was happening and they said they'd issue me a full refund and give me next day shipping on my next order. They said they had to presume the television was lost in shipping. The refund is expected to clear in 2 to 3 days.

What I'm wondering is, what if the set does show up eventually, say in a day or three? Now, clearly I'd have a moral obligation to inform Amazon of the news and proceed according to their response, but what are my legal rights and responsibilities? Would I have to pay for shipping it back? Drive it to a post office? I don't have a printer to reprint a new shopping label.

I know the FTC says you can keep unsolicited items you receive as gifts, but I don't think that fits this unique situation. I'm in the USA, which I suppose will effect the answer anyone night have. I'm not trying to be dishonest here. I wanted to pay for a TV and have it delivered so I could switch my old TV into a roku box in our bedroom. Now it's become this pain in the ass and I'm still going to have to drive to freaking Walmart, which is across town unless I want to wait on Amazon to stumblefuck their way into somehow managing to get another television to my house. Franky I'm tired of waiting and just want a big TV before The Division comes out.

Edit: I guess I've decided to return it but I hope I don't have to pay for shipping or wait a zillion years for a shipping label.

How come omitting/putting the "www." part in a website address can give different results? Some websites can work with the www. but not without it, or vice versa. Why is that? What is the function of "www." exactly?

The domain holder can decide how to route traffic. In most cases ".domain.com" will redirect to "www.domain.com" or vice versa. The "www" is often there to indicate that it's a web server and not some other kind of server.

Thank you. I know you can, and in fact it's precisely because I was doing that for my company's website at the time of that writing that I asked. But although I don't have an example, it seems that sometimes suing/omitting the www., rather than causing a redirection, simply breaks the site, and I was wondering why. In my case, I made sure to make every other domain name we're holding to redirect them to the same domain, just in case.

Question to people who know : is netcode coding random ? I see to many fighting games with bad netcode, while internet structure is more or less the same for a decade. here's the problem and can it be solved ?

All I know as a layman is that netcode is especially difficult for fighting games, which are extremely demanding, and that there are no universal standards. GGPO is one of the popular standards, and it's been used to great success in fighting games, but there are still companies, most notably Japanese companies, don't systematically use it. People have been complaining about Street Fighter V precisely because Capcom chose to do the netcode from scratch (poorly) rather than just licencing GGPO (I assume it is licenced? Hit me if I'm wrong).

Sometimes I see a summary of some threads that highlight who posted the most in a thread, how do you enable that? I can't seem to find an option for that.

Lately here on GAF on my iPhone I get an iOS pop up box from 'verizon' saying I've won a free iPad and to click ok. This box locks my whole screen and 'ok' is the only option. There's no x or cancel. Any ideas 1) how to get out of that other than swiping up on safari and then opening it again and trying to hit the x button at the top of the webpage screen before the pop up reloads and locks everything again? And 2) what I can do to prevent this in the first place? Is this malware? Should I have an ad blocker? A pop up blocker? I'm new(ish) to the iPhone and have no idea what's happening so any assistance is greatly appreciated.

How do scammers like those claiming to be from Windows (not Microsoft) get your number? They can't be just cold calling millions of numbers right? One called up and I tried ask them without outright asking how their scam worked but it obviously went no where. I felt kinda bad dragging out since it's probably just a poor guy in a huge call center in India just trying to make some money but at least it delayed someone else from getting scammed.

Hey guys,

How do you call this type of can opener in English:

ouvre-boite-droitier-7684-350x350.jpg

I want to buy one (because they never jam or stop cutting, at worse you just need to push harder) but can only seem to find rotary ones when I look up "manual can opener" (whereas if I translate the words to French it comes up right away on google).

How does a jumbo jet... happen?

* Is the featureset inside that may be unique to the airline (Entertainment electronics, seat design, soft furnishings) installed at the factory by the manufacturer, in a hangar at a home airport by the airline, or at a specialist location by a third party?

* And how is the featureset upgraded? Do they have to be sent back to 'home base'?

* Do the factories have their own airfield for, well, shipping? You can't particularly easily carry a 747 on another vehicle, so I'm assuming they're flown to a home airfield. Or are they assembled on-site to some extent? I'm sure I've seen hangars at Heathrow with a Boeing logo on them.

* Since they're inherently imported (in general!), does Customs have to inspect them on arrival? Or are they - in some legal sense - considered not part of the country they reside in?

* And as a corollary to the customs query, what about cruise ships? Similar principle, but we're dealing with something the size of a large building that could nevertheless carry contraband

Probably call it a one-piece can opener.

Does anyone have this comic strip image of a GAFfer reacting disgustedly to sunlight coming through his window and closing his blinds? It was hilarious and describes me perfectly, but I can't find it anywhere. I tried Googling but couldn't find it.

Yesterday I found a shop that imports Mountain Dew (I'm not in the US and only know about it from mentions on forums such as gaf and overseas friends).

Should I try one or it's better if I stay away from it?

I have had it before and I honestly think it's the most disgusting soft drink ever.

Then again some people love it.

So my advice is if it's relatively cheap (for your own budget) get a bottle, try it out and then dispose of it and join the crusade against it

Given my taste for imported beer I doubt it's going to feel expensive. I don't know what to expect, I used to say energy drinks tasted like cough syrup and piss, and in the end Monster became an aqquired taste (and what keeps me alive in weekends). Sugar is what worries me as I haven't had a non Zero/lo-cal/etc drink in months. I'm a gym nut and I try taking my junk food intake seriously (or keeping it under control)

You can't find fakes or replicas of this, do you? This is the first time I see it on a "serious" store. I had seen it before in those latin american or asian small grocery stores which usually bring the weirdest and cheapest stuff.

You wanna search for something like 'army tin opener' or 'camping tin opener'. There are lots of different types that use a similar design with no or few moving parts.

When people call into live radio and ask a question and then say "I'll take my answer off air" and hang up, why do they do that? Is it some kind of talk radio etiquette thing or are they just trying to save their skype minutes?

Why does the refresh button on neogaf mobile suck so bad? If you hit it and there's no new replies, the button will not work again unless you refresh the page in the browser

I've only had that happen (Chrome, Android) when I have a shitty connection. Even then, it usually generates a pop-up saying there are no new posts.

Maybe it's a mobile chrome problem. It's what I use. I always have a great connection and it fails every time if the first press produces no new results.

I'm trying to add a speed trap to waze, but it won't let me choose the location? It just adds to my current location.

update- i can't

What's the difference between ModBot and ModBot 2?

Effectively nothing. The way Modbot is coded it can only do so much at once, so when there's a lot of giveaways or Modbot 1 is busy doing something else Modbot 2 will automatically post or PM in its stead. I think there might even be a Modbot 3 and 4.

Thanks! Two threads were closed today at pretty much the same time, but one by ModBot 1 and the other by ModBot 2. This explains that.

How do I turn on wifi in my house so that I don't eat up internet data when using my iphone's internet at home? Yeah, I know this is a stupid question, and should've been doing this since I got an iphone in October.

Thanks

Do you need to actually enable WiFi at home, or just connect your iPhone to the WiFi in your house that already works?

For the former: on a PC that is hardwired to your router/modem you'll need to go to 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.0 or 192.168.1.1 via a web browser to access your modem software. Depending on your router the WiFi options should be buried within there somewhere.

For the latter: Just go into iOS settings for WiFi and turn it on or allow the phone to access your home network which it should discover automatically.

For the latter, I turn it on, but I can't find a network that's mine? They're all locked. I did find my password I think.

Then most likely your Wifi isn't actually enabled, or it's set to not be discoverable (meaning you'd have to enter the SSID and password into your iPhone manually). These are both things that would most likely be changed through your modem/router software.
