Is there a good reliable site for selling gift cards online? I've got a couple laying around I don't ever plan to use and would rather just sell them. I've seen some sites that buy gift cards that seem legit, but most of them won't take anything under 20-25 dollars, and mine are all $15.

I've traded my gift cards here on gaf in the Buy/Sell/Trade thread before.

Is there a significant loss in fidelity if I cap speaker wires in a HT setup with pin connectors for easier installation and removal from the receiver/speakers?

I'm having problems putting videos in full screen while watching youtube in chrome.

Can watch them in without a problem in explorer. Anyone else experiencing this?

Do people generally study a lot in college?

I'm at the end of my sophomore year and I've never really studied; I've read through the chapter once, and had a skim through session maybe, but that is hardly considered studying.

I've heard from people that college students typically study one hour per class that they attend. I attend four classes for four days out of the week and a lab on Tuesday. That totals to around 17 hours of studying per week! That is, if I were to study at the 'average' rate.

I write A-grade papers and I maintain a 3.8 GPA, but I feel like I could be progressing as a student in a much more exponential way if I studied more often.

I guess my question is:

Does this seem like a typical weekly study routine for college students!? One hour of studying for each class attended just seems over-exaggerated, yes or no?

Would it be wise for me to adopt a more extensive study regimen for my upcoming years in school? As I'm sure it only gets more difficult to do quite so well.

Some people need to study a lot and other people don't. And a lot of it depends on what your major is. If you're doing fine and getting good grades it sounds like you're in a good spot. I never really had to study a ton except for a very few particular classes that I had trouble with but I know other people who studied a ridiculous amount of time.

It probably depends on how lab or test focused your classes are. Most of the courses I took in college had a large chuck of our final mark made up from assignments so it was easy to compensate for lesser marks on tests. I think if you find something that works for you and you're happy with the results keep doing that. I had people in some of my classes that would study that long because it took them that much time to get it.

In my PC I have a shitty 8400gs graphics card, I've been given a free 9600 gt which I can put in there, but how much of a bump to my electric bill am I going to see if I do this? I won't be gaming constantly, but the PC is on a lot of the time, will there be any difference in power usage when it's just being used for the usual web browsing etc? It would be nice to use it to play a few games, but our household has a fairly tight budget so I can't really justify it if it bumps up the electricity costs a lot. Thanks in advance for any help.

Come on dude you must be cheap as hell if you're worried about a tiny power usage change like that.

When I'm the only person in my household working and I support two brothers yes, I tend to watch my money carefully. But thanks for insulting me and not answering the question.

It's a joke, stop getting so butthurt. To answer your question, no it not that much of a difference.

GeForce 8400 GS cards have a maximum power draw of 71 watts.

GeForce 9600 GT cards have a maximum power draw of 95 watts.

You probably won't be using up the maximum though.

Two-year old article, but I would guess the difference in electricity usage and billing will be fairly small: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/power-consumption-graphics-cards,2849-12.html

I need some help. I have an external hdd I got in 2009 and it has taken plenty of hits, whenever I try to transfer relatively big files (the transfer it's super slow and it usually gets stuck in some parts and lasts a long time in 5 seconds left) Google chrome freezes, youtube videos stop loading as well as sites as if there was no internet connection. However Internet Explorer still works fine. I have no idea why this happens. Any thoughts?

If you've never had to study, you're not taking challenging enough classes.

That may be part of it, as I am only in my sophomore year.

During my high school years, my professors would push me towards AP courses, but I had always respectfully declined. In retrospect, my life would have been much more fulfilling if I had just listened (and played less video games). I'm a bio-medical Engineering transfer student and the courses that I am currently enrolled in have the most demanding curriculum that my school offers. It's not a very good school though, and it's programs consist of only courses for obtaining an A.S, A.A, or A.A.S degree. Prospectively, this mediocre degree will probably effect my chances of landing a spot at a good school in a decent Biomed program.

I've done some things that I sincerely regret. If it weren't for the round n' round cycle of these seemingly petty mistakes, I'd be in a much better place. I can truthfully say that I am deserving of being exactly just where I stand, like it or not.

So I'm really not asking for you guys to help me do my homework but I was just wondering if anyone here knew anything about webpage design using HTML and could guide me in the right direction? Would appreciate it

Well what are you actually trying to do? An impressive set of HTML problems can be solved by Googling what you are trying to accomplish.

Trying to create a simple webpage. I've already started the process but I can't get it to look like the template he gave us. I print screened what the template is supposed to look like. I hope I'm posting this picture right. This is the template:

This is what I've done in Notepad thanks to googling but It's not looking like the template he gave us. I was gonna use frames then that became kinda frustrating, then I just decided to use borders instead.

I'm having problems with Youtube in Firefox. They seem to freeze at 2 seconds and never load. Ever so rarely they will instantly load, but it is few and far between. I deleted cookies, cache, reinstalled flash, updated flash, updated Firefox. It seems to work a bit better in Chrome and IE, but nowhere near as it should be.

On a scale from 1 to 10, is this good English?

There's only one left.
Well I guess I always get confused because of perspective. If it's the person who is wearing the earring's left then it's your right but if it's your left then it's their right.

And yes, I'm totally overcomplicating things lol. So I take it it's their left, thereby making it your right?

Think about it this way: when someone says they're left-handed, do they mean their left, or your left?

In UK Apple stores, what are the typical wages for staff? I have an interview for a few other places where I know what the hourly rate is, but I can't find anything out about the wages Apple pay their staff.

Hey GAF, I have a sort of gaming question, sort of bluray player question.

I'm using my PS3 to play a bluray, I'm not on the 3DTV, and the bluray should be playable in 2D, it says it is on the back, but I can't get it to get to any menu to select a 2D version, it seems to launch as if it thinks I can view 3D and could select 2D later. The film is Dial M, and it does say in the back it can play in 2D. Any ideas? Is there some 3D menu I have to deactivate?

EDIT: Never mind, sorted it. For anyone with the same thing, it was just because when I had it on the 3DTV, it must have synced to it, so it thought I was still using the same TV, so I just had to sync the HDMI again.

I discovered a FB account that is impersonating a friend. I tried reporting it to FB, but it only allows me to send him a message; it does not report it to FB. So I told him about it, and sent him a link, but he can't access the page without a password request.

WTF is going on here?

I got a new Sony Xperia Z today on contract and was told it would take 2-24 hours for the new sim to activate. on my train ride home I noticed it was picking up signal but not allowing me to go online. I figured it was part of the activation process so just left it.

I just got home and added a few phone numbers. I tried ringing one but an automated voice told me that I didn't have enough credit to make a call.

Is this just part of the activation process or is it possible Phones 4 U have accidentally put in a PAYG sim on my new phone?

Fake edit: I just noticed the sim card packaging says "retail combi PAYG connection pack."

Ok, but what would it show? That I went to gmail? Or would it show the contents that I was looking at in my gmail? Nothing sinister in there. Just that I don't want anyone looking.

But lets say absolute basic when they say monitoring. Whats the least amount of "monitoring"? That it will just record the website www.neogaf.com/forum/blahblahblah ?

Can they see that I went to Neogaf and wrote a reply to someone? Would they be able to read the reply?

Sorry, missed this.

It would show what you connected to and when, at the very least. It may also show all the individual requests, such as image files, page queries, and the like. Aside from search criteria, which show up in strings after search engine URLs, it's unlikely to show anything you type.

On my iPhone, I accedentially switched Destructoid from the mobile layout to the full layout, and I don't see any way to switch back. How do I change this?

When I'm listening to music on my iphone is there a way for me to set the music to stop completely instead of fading out when I get a text or phone call? It's a minor thing but I find it really annoying.

Is it possible to do a sort of positive google bomb so as to keep unwanted search results from the front page of google? My name gets hits that I don't want when I search it and I'd rather those specific searches not be on the first page or even first 2 pages as it may be detrimental for job searching.

Did the civilian casualties inflicted by the Japanese in World War II outweigh the damage of the two atomic bomb drops?
