What typeface is this (or does a similar one exist?) Sorry for the blurry picture.

Edit : found the answer: it's called Bangle.

Is a Mexican Doorbell a euphemism for a Penis?
If it is it's not widespread. A mexican doorbell is honking your car horn to get someone to come out of their house. I think it's stereotyping laziness of not getting out of the car to ring the door bell.

Why would ethnicity be mentioned of if the discussion is about general language learning, rather than specifically that of the infant's ethnic group?

When does an infant ever learn "general language" rather than the language of the infant's group?

Not a 'general language' (what is that?), but language learning processes in general. The mention by the OP of ethnicity lead me to think they were specifically asking about the infant's enthnic group's language, as opposed to that of a new ethnic group, such as an ethnically Vietnamese child of immigrants to Australia learning English.

If it was about the general development of language skills in children without regard to ethicity then why did the OP mention ethnicity at all?

The underlying structure of the brain is a key part of how birth-language is learned rather than second languages... so I'm not really sure what this argument is even about.

Which argument would that be? I am explaining what I interpretted the OP as wanting to know, and am working out what you think they meant. This is purely a matter of reading-comprehension, and comparison, so debate holds no interest to me. I think the OP is asking one thing, and you think they are asking something different. You are welcome to argue all you like. Just count me out.

Another question for photoshop Gaf,

I opened an animated gif into cs6. There, it is just a group of layers. After I have edited the layers the way I want, why is it that there is no "Animation" section under window? Also, why is it that upon saving for web, there is also no animation selection?

I really need help with this.

Cyan, I never heard that before, about underlying brain structure and the learning of a first language. Could you point me in a direction to read more? Googling "birth language" gives some weird results that I don't think are relevant. Thanks!

You might try Pinker (The Language Instinct or The Blank Slate). Though do bear in mind that it's not settled science.

I recall reading a very convincing argument that infants' brains have all the necessary connections for them to make any sound in any language (rhotics, clicks, etc), but that these are slowly pruned away once they learn their first language. Can't remember now where I read it, though.

Weird, it seemed the other way around to me. *shrug*

Not at all. I am just under a strong impression that you don't understand what I am saying at all, so I've been questioning you and rewording. I guess that could be construed as argumentative when comprehension is an issue.

How did I get so sunburned when it was cloudy all day?

Basically, was outside from 10 in the morning to 7 at night, working for a class, and it was cloudy, and cold as all hell for most of the day. It warmed up every once in a while, and the clouds parted a few times, but nothing substantial.

I think I know the answer, but I wanted to confirm it: Basically some UV rays make it through the clouds and can still tan/burn you? Also, aren't some UV rays bad and some are good? (That sounds really dumb saying that.) Are the "so strong they made it through the clouds" ones bad?

Not really into RC cars/planes here (would love to though) but I've been wondering why aren't these kind controllers used in PC racing games?

I mean that wheel seems to be better suited for steering than a gamepad. (or a keyboard, mouse, joystick)

I guess there are ways to connect one to a PC but why isn't this design used (by Logitech, etc) to make standard PC controllers?

A regular game pad is generally suited for all types of games, if someone gets a controller specifically for racing games they are more likely to just get a racing wheel. The middle ground has no demand.

Agreed but maybe being cheaper than a wheel could make it an alternative for those who don't have money/space while still being "competitive".

And concerning that "middle ground" demand, we've seen controller makers releasing niche products again and again.
Don't see what's so extreme about this.

Really? That's crazy. Thanks for the answer!

You get sunburned by the UV rays of the sun, they can pass through clouds. Certain days may have a higher UV index than others. So you could have a cloudless sky that produces less UV than that of a cloudy day depending on the UV index.

I'd sooner use my steering wheel and footpedals. How much does this thing cost anyway?

I just got a Blu Ray player for my birthday, but I only have a 1080i/720p TV. My tv came out about 5 years before HDMI became standard.

The player does not have component connections, just HDMI and composite. I can chose between yellow/red/white (SD) or HDMI (HD).

Since HDMI is obviously NOT a choice, I'm taking a huge step back. I put in Aliens and the quality isn't HORRIBLE, but it's not nearly HD. I used to watch DVDs on my Xbox 360 and they looked much better, but I obviously had HD cables for my Xbox.

Also not a choice: buying a new TV. I'm unemployed. I need a temporary fix until I get a job.

SO

My question: would something like this give me a decent quality upgrade? It's an HDMI -> component adaptor. So I'll be able to plug into the blue and green of my TV. Obviously not as nice as Blu Ray, but would I notice an improvement over SD?

I"m not saying it'll replace your wheel/pedals, but it HAS to be be better than a gamepad....it has a small steering wheel for god's sake!!

Random search came up with this @ $47.99.

Ah right. I don't play games that require a gamepad, but yeah, for racing games I'd sooner use something with a wheel on it if I had to choose between the two.

The link you posted describes it as HDMI to Component, but if you click the links below it's actually just a PS3 component cable. Nothing to do with HDMI, although the connector looks a bit similar.

Something like this should do the trick: link

It's more expensive though and I haven't used it personally, so check the specs and reviews. Also, I doubt it comes with HDMI/Component cables, so there's another expense if you don't have them.

My parents have an old plasma and a blu-ray player connected with component @1080i, and the picture quality is very nice. A big improvement over SD.

Awesome, thank you. I'll search around for a better price, but you helped and eased my mind quite a bit.

It's so weird to be staring at SD menus again on my TV. ha

Cool, thanks, I will look for some articles. Just read an article on Daniel Everett's criticism of universal grammar and Chomsky' reaction. Interesting stuff but I wish egos and politics didn't obfuscate the debate so much.

I feel like I might've asked this before but I forget the answer so I'll ask again - is there any rumors of a new iPhone coming out this year? Or is 4s gonna be the only game in town until next summer?

In the top menu bar, click the "Window" drop down and check "Animation."

Don't see what's so extreme about this.

Because it's an awkward controller for anyone that hasn't been racing RC cars. Even then, RC cars isn't made for smooth driving. They're extremely agile, and that type of controller suits a car like that. You don't drive cars in Grand Turismo the same way you drive an RC car.

Analogue bumpers for acceleration and breaking outdoes the control on that one, and I can't ever imagine the 'wheel' on this controller feeling smooth enough to even replace an analogue on a regular controller, a controller most people know.

And people that are more serious can always find the money for a wheel, and if you're really cheap, you can find wheels and pedals for 50$

June or October seems to be the two current rumors. This year.
