I think it's actually 3 months after sign up date however, not approval. So unless you are really lucky and get approved within 3 months (took 2 years for me ._.), then post count is all that matters.

What kind of cable do I need to watch itunes movies on my TV in HD? Also, will the quality of the movie be good if I go from my PC to my TV to watch it?

my brother was telling me that hard alcohol has more calories then beer..... this true??

does beer get absorbed differently more then alcohol or something??

cause i swear it looks like more people that drink beer always have guts or are heavier...

I believe it is due to the yeast in beer that causes the beer gut in men. IIRC men are genetically predisposed to put fat on the tummy whilst laydeez are so predisposed to put it on their hips.

Hey Gaf,

I have a regular SD Card for a camera:

sd-card.jpeg

Basically I need to know how to recover the last 3 months of images from it. I was using it this past Friday night, when I deleted a video from it, and when I went to take more pictures I got "Memory Card Read Error." I was unable to take pics and unable to view anything from it. I tried it with another card and nothing.

What do I need (both hardware & software) to be able to recover the pictures?

Thanks gaf! Trying to utilize this thread rather than make a new thread for it.

I'm doing basic html stuff for part of a course I'm doing. We're trying to get to grips with it and whatnot. I've now got reasonably handy with html and CSS.

I know how to create a contact form (layout), but I assume it can't email my address without being connected to a server. Now this site will never actually be hosted on a server, just launched from my computer to be looked at. Is there a way to make a dummy form that dumps the input information and redirects to a thank you page? Or if possible, can I create a contact form that emails to my personal account despite the fact the site will never be hosted properly?

Hope that makes sense.

Cheers.

I've got an interview for Casual worker with Hazmat and insulation work.

Anyone here do that kind of work? What should I expect exactly?

Are pokemon cards worth anything?
Found two huge folders in the back of my closet full with cards, dozens of them holo.
It'd be nice to get maybe 20-50 bucks for it, I guess. Is that realistic?
I have no use for them, obviously, and would just throw them away otherwise.

Edit: Any chance that the rare ones will become collector's items later on? Akin to the first Spiderman comic or anything like that?
Maybe I should trash the common ones and hang on to the holo for anyother 10 years.

A lot of RPG stores buy used TCG cards in bulk.

Anyone have a link (or name) for the picture of the guy resting his forehead on top of his monitor staring intently? Like, leaning into it, sorta.

How can I make my wifi connection better or faster?
I have a d-link router with 2 2.4GHz bands and 1 with 5GHz band I think, but I have a suspicion I'm only using the 2.4. I hear I can change between n and g as well?

NEED HELP FAST PLEASE!!

For a bibliography, what do I do if no author and date article was published is present? (website) Got to finish this essay and hand in before class in 2 hours!!

The name of the website in italics, the name of the website article, "Author unknown", "Retrieved [DATE]", URL

Also, you might want to save a copy (print the site to a PDF printer or something).
The best you can do is the best you can do.

Link the article. Sometimes the information is buried. Also, if you can't identify an author, it's usually best to not use the article as a source.

Do you know how to access your routers login page?

http://192.168.0.1/ in a browser connected to your router

Just hit enter if you haven't already set a password. Make sure you set a password and find the wireless tab, the options will be there. Make sure your wireless signal is encrypted as well with WPA2.

Is it just me, or is Hugh Jackman coming to resemble Clint Eastwood when he was much younger?

The first picture really looks like him, not so much for the second

More specifically this Clint Eastwood..

Edit: It was pointed out that the first picture is in fact Clint, my point still stands!

Last night, my 4-year-old Panasonic TV got a blue steak maybe 20 pixels wide going down the entire screen a little right of center. It disappeared but came back. Is this going to be a permenant problem? Is there anything I can do?

It depends on how you set it up.

The way to find out is open the command window and run "ipconfig /all". It's listed as the Default Gateway. This will also be under the network properties if you don't have DHCP enabled.

I'm aware. I've set up a bunch of these, being the family helpdesk :)

All devices I have dealt with, by default, have the standard private 192.168.1.* numbering, unless I change that, which I have had to in situations where the wifi router and DSL router are separate.

laaame: The first one is him, which kind of my point. I see the odd old Eastwood picture and think Jackman as a sort of kneejerk reaction.

Oh I was reading your post wrong (or I subconsciously thought they looked alike too)...

Well it seems you aren't the only one who thinks so according to a google search

So, recently bought a PSP. It wont connect to my internet connection unless its WPA-PSK [TKIP] + WPA2-PSK [AES]. Problem is I want my connection to be WPA2-PSK [AES]. When I had my connection set to that my connection was greyed out but I was looking last night on my PSP and my neighbor has a connection that is WPA2-PSK [AES] and isn't greyed out. So, my question is what am I doing wrong?

On a totally seperate note would someone be willing to create a positive thread? I feel like we have too many negative news stories on the OT of gaf.

I've been drinking at least two pints of beer a day almost everyday for the past 6 months. And I'll drink enough to be hungover at least twice a week.

Does that make me an alcoholic ?

Because according to the French definition of alcoholism, it does.

I already configured my router with a password and WPA2 a year ago, but I thought, if I needed to activate the 5GHz band instead of the 2.4GHz. Yesterday downloading demos suddenly were incredibly slow. Could it be because of the amount of devices connected to the network? There's at least 15 devices connected.

Official definitions of alcoholism are total bullshit. In the US if you have more than 5 drinks in any one day (an entire day, even spread out among 16 hours) you are officially a binge drinker.

That said, if you consume beer every single day, you might actually have developed a physical dependency that you're not even aware of, and despite what the guy above says, you should never stop drinking cold turkey from constant use. Are you an alcoholic? Probably not. You could easily be classified as a "heavy drinker" under any criteria, but do you have a mental problem? I'd personally say no just based on my own experience. Still, if you ever do want to quit, definitely wean yourself off the nightly drinks real gradually.

Possibly. Also, as other have mentioned it depends on what you have downloade recently. If you have purchased a lot of games then a demo is likely to be faster.

I only wanted to download the FIFA Street and SSX demoes but after one hour likely, it had only gotten to around 45%. SO unusual. :/

I have a 120GB SSD (C drive) and a 1TB HDD (F drive). I suspect the HDD is about to fail, so I want to swap it over for another. I have a lot of my programs installed onto the HDD.

What's the best way to move everything to the new drive and still have all my installed programs just work without having to reinstall? Is it as simple as backup/restore and make sure the drive names are the same?

Download speeds on PSN are weird. I think some servers are just better than others. Sometimes I'll start a download and it will be taking forever, and I'll cancel it and start it again and it'll go much faster.

Sweet!

It's funny, but I grew up watching Eastwood films, and now I mistake him for Jackman. You'd think it would be the other way around. I guess it's too long since I saw a film in which Eastwood was young and hot.

I need a simple, lightweight DVD ripper (Windows or OS X). Some decent quality options for video and sound, but nothing that would go too overboard. I just want to digitize most of my DVDs.

Was using the free-license MaX DVD Ripper Pro software when a GAF thread was created to alert people to a limited time offer, but I reformatted my laptop since and lost the chance to re-license it. It was ideal though. I think this was it: http://www.macxdvd.com/mac-dvd-ripper-pro/

Anything like that that's cheaper? (I know, I'm cheap)
