The only Saban show I ever cared about was Digimon Adventures. It seemed age appropriate and the dub could have been worse.

Does One Piece ever bounce back to Alabasta greatness after the Skypeia arc? If so, what episodes should I start on? I am not really interested to go through any of the filler arc post-Skypeia.

Alabasta is excellent, skypiea is even better , water 7 comes after it's even better then both, all the arcs later achieve a higher level of greatness.

I can understand someone not liking skypiea that much since it's world building heavy, the main focus being the land of skypiea it's history & it's inhabitants then about main characters(the strawhats).

Episode 225 and up until the five episodes of recap = best part of the One Piece anime.

Cosmic: No, I still don't agree.

It does and then some. The big arc after Skypiea is arguably the best arc in the series. I think it's like 224 or something.

Thanks for the episode number and the words of hype. I'll probably tackle some of it tonight.

Awww. I think Skypiea is great. The arc has such a grand feeling, and it does so much for the world building. I can get why some people don't like it (a lot of focus on side characters and little connection to the central plotline), but I just find Skypiea a joyous experience.

I am usually a lot more interested in the central plot than I am about world-building. I could care less about the Skypeia, and the side characters did nothing for me. It was just way too long.

Thinking about watching Kimi ni Todoke. Is it going to be mostly cute and fluffy like the first episode, or is it going to turn into nonstop Evil Bitches plotting against her and constant misunderstandings like Peach Girl?

Well holy god damned fuck. That makes perfect sense.

Am I the only one who noticed the derpy clerk just staring blankly into space? WHAT DOES IT MEAN? I'M CURIOUS.

I suppose the twist of just mixing up the pairings was a way to make the show slightly less boring. The fake lesbians need to be shaken up much more though. lol

This is really the main problem. The leadup and setting were both great but it was hard to continue caring when you spend 50 episodes doing next to nothing.

The setting wasn't all that good either though. Well it was, then it became little garden redux.

I dunno, replacing way too much of the yuri sisters with way too much Chinatsu seems like breaking even to me.
If you think there is such a thing as "way too much Chinatsu" I'm going to have to revoke your avatar.

Pan :(, the whole wire mesh on the net was just odd, perhaps I was too focused on the episode but it like kept vanihsing in places, is it that hard to draw and keep the net on the characters? Pan is fun and hopes he sticks around.

Mostly cute and fluffy. There is a fair bit of the plotting stuff but even that generally ends up with everyone becoming bff's.

Well, there is quite a bit of "evil bitches" stuff though. Although it's not completely dramatic, and Sawako deals with it nicely.

ehh...there was actually lot happening each episode thanks to the arc kicking off in fully gear very early on and the
straws being separated, a lot was happening with each of them exploring the land and running into challenges, theres always something happening with the 3 sided war focusing on the shandra warriors, enel group and the sky citizens being mixed up in it

Accusing it of nothing happening is bizarre, I can sort of understand too much but nothing yeah that's really bizarre.

-it was long but not 50ep it was 40.

Okay, I can probably deal with that. I don't watch many shojo series, but Peach Girl was just way too stressful. I don't know if I could handle another show like that. The first episode of Kimi seemed like it could go either way with everyone making fun of her at first, but then apologizing later.

Armored Trooper Votoms 1

Definitely off to a good start here :). Chirico is definitely not your average mecha anime protagonist. This should be a fun series, but seeing as it's 52 episodes I'll probably be taking my time.

I'm curious, did you actually finish Skypiea? Not saying you have to because its plot significance still hasn't really come into play, but probably will be important at some point down the line.

Yeah, I was able to complete the Skypeia arc. I became too burnt out on One Piece after it though.

Makes sense.

By skipping to 225, you will be skipping the Davy Back Fight arc, but that's fine as it is literally the ONLY canon arc in the series with absolutely no bearing on the overarching plot (unless you count a single mention later on that doesn't really affect anything).

noro noro beam joke, cotton candy and the man riding a bike on water.

Davy back fight arc is really short anyways.

I dont know, Davy Back was just inhibited from being really enjoyable because again it was just too long that one just stops caring. I liked the Zoro Sanji, but that was just given such short time. I guess the running theme of Skypeia and there after is that they make the arcs too long.

Davy Back Fight was an awesome mini arc. I don't think it necessarily needed the filler the anime added, but you can't miss Afro Luffy.

There's a trailer for Kimi ni Todoke on the second disc of Bunny Drop. It somehow makes it seem even more shoujo than it actually is.

The dub could have been worse, I suppose, in the way that 4Kids One Piece could have been worse. It's pretty difficult to imagine them making something much worse, though. The beautiful soundtrack was replaced with some generic garbage, the script was mangled beyond recognition, and pretty much every character had a complete personality transplant. Not to mention all of the terrible "comedy" inserted into every single dramatic scene. It's up there as one of the very worst post-Sailor Moon dubs for me.

It probably helps being a dumb kid who doesn't know better.

What a neat show. Even the tangents that hampered the overall flow of the narrative were still fun on their own merits. Going into it with skewed expectations from animeGAF made this much more enjoyable, I think.

This is probably more reflective of my limited experience with anime than anything else, but I really appreciated how satisfying this season ending was. I find it much more preferable to the cliffhanger method.

It's not that bad, and S2 gets the to point after re-introductions rather quickly (1 - 1 1/2) episodes. The cliffhanger thing is really over exaggerated though; They (S1)
go back to space at the end of S1
, there was always going to be a second cour, which was known since the show started. What did you think was going to happen in the next season, lol

Edit: I quoted your wrong post, but w/e. Glad you like it though! This is why we're bros. All my other bros have jumped ship on me.

Yuru Yuri S2 09:

Too much Chinatsu, not enough Ayano. Other than that... not much to this episode beyond Kyouko's epic greeting of Himawari. XD

But it was, like, super cool and stuff. Probably one of my favorite shows as a kid.

If the anime ditched all the fanservice stuff (girls imagining themselves naked in a hot spring with exposed boobs underwater, unconscioudly visualizing themselves in extremely revealing battle outfits, etc) then it could really be an actually good and compelling magic school anime. There were great action moments though, and Kaidou is stikk good as well as Akkii. I cant wait to see how the battles go down...and nice for the fandom, came across a Kaidou/Akki image (cant link), which is good, considering the anime.

This might be true but then nobody would watch it anymore. :p

I'm looking forward to season two. How many more episodes are left?
