Fight! Iczer One - 2
Well, that was better in just about every way.

The overlying plot didn't suddenly become interesting, but the way it was presented at least made it entertaining. The show actually felt like it was flowing in a natural way. It didn't hurt that this episode was paced and strung along with great sakuga. Notably, the episode opens up with some destruction of buildings as a towering space ship falls into earth. The sakuga for these portions was downright fantastic. In general, this episode felt like it had a much more competent visual composition. They even employed some neat techniques, like the way people would teleport and have the screen sort of phase in afterwards. This episode was just fun to look at.

They answered some questions that I thought wouldn't be answered at all in this episode in a very natural way. I think my biggest complaint is the existence of the horror segments. They're so secondary to just about everything going on that they just end up feeling out of place. In fact, Nagisa herself isn't exactly a profound character at all. Her role in the show is just a means to an end.

Unrelated, but I noticed Iczer One got a Laser Disc release here and it led me down the collector's rabbit hole again.

Just look at this Honneamise LD!
It's so... ugly. Especially compared to the Japanese release. I still feel like I need it though! Why are these priced so reasonably? Well, probably because nobody wants a Laser Disc. I kinda do though. Someone's putting this out in BD soon, right? I need to resist these laser disc urges.

Because that's an awesome thing to see when looking for doujins. Doujins you already have being rereleased instead of something new.

OH YEAH! Well I was like... THREE! hah.

When I was three the babby that was you was formed.

I started my junior year of high school in 94.

You feelin' okay there, grampa? Need a walker?

I was 12. Gosh that was a while ago!

Cajun double my age. Makes you like almost 50 this year.

FIGHTING EVIL BY DA MOONLIGHT.

Ah...Sailor Moon. One of those shows that I can't enjoy now as much as I did back then.

What I expected from Sailor Moon is what I got in Nanoha.

I enjoyed Sailor Moon as a kid. Some day I'll sit down and watch it all.

It's already out on BD. But Maiden Japan rescued the license and is releasing their BD in October, so you can wait for that if you want to pay less.

If your only experience with Sailor Moon is with a dub, be careful in case someone attempts to ruin your childhood. Althouhg in my way, I think ruining childhoods is me enhancing your life so eh.

I'm back. But, actually I'm gone for good as any sort of regular to the thread.
My situation now being such that I'm barely not a NEET (or maybe I am, I'm not sure), I just don't have the necessary mental or temporal resources to keep up with this thread at any level. Sorry.

When summer ends I expect myself to drop out of the running for top 5 in the thread. School's gonna have me buuusy. Plus there's that whole attempting to have a social life at school thing, too, I guess.

Hakkenden Touhou Hakken Ibun 18

I do like how this story ended.

I also like the little callbacks to the overall plot that most people probably forgotten by now.

I'm not really getting you, but may be in a similar sort of state. A lot of the convo here now I either don't vibe with, or flies right over my head, to be entirely honest, but I love the topic, like many of the posters in here, and do find myself understanding or vibing with the talk at occasional moments . So, I stick around. I don't pressure myself to take in half of this, but jump in where I feel I can contribute.

I'll miss your charts though

You're right; it's the best shounen show.

The manga needs to get off this hiatus soon. Togashi's got a little bit of leeway, but if the hiatus keeps going until the end of the year, then I dunno what's gonna happen.

Maybe he'll start drawing it again if Madhouse throw money at him.

Do what you need to do. Hope to see you back in here eventually.

AnimeGAF IRC has always had a large proportion of traffic that is people posting porn (or people swearing at each other); that's pretty much why I stopped visiting (although I also didn't really have a lot to say, which kind of defeats the purpose of a chat room).

I might have to stop reading the thread in a few weeks, anyway; I'm changing careers to become a teacher and will be behind the school firewall at all times (living on campus), and I somehow doubt they'd take kindly to an internet history with a thread that fairly regularly talks about sexualising 13 year old girls. That's if GAF isn't blocked anyway!

Perhaps I'll have to use my Twitter account more for following anime stuff, or use my mobile without connecting to WiFi. Next season's potentially way too exciting to miss out on entirely - hopefully they won't mind me using Crunchyroll at least.

Another fallen warrior :(

SEXISM and what the fuck!? They tried to fucking deck Haruka with fucking wrenches.... and then tried to fucking wreck her using a fucking truck!

What the hell!?

It's so weird seeing Inner Senshis interacting with the Outers. It's like, in civilian mode, they are cool and chill, but in Senshi mode, it's a whole different ball game. So much contrasting details in their relationships here. And speaking of which, Uranus and Moon were chained together today and Moon recognizes Uranus's cologne. PROGRESS!?

Sidenote: Haruka makes anyone in lesbians with her.

Also that's a rather interesting Daimon design.

I finally gave in to all the Gaf hype and decided to give this a try. I've been avoiding it up until now because it just sounded goofy and dumb. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that wasn't the case. The characters are goofy, but they inhabit a serious world. I like that.

First episode was weird. Not much to go on. It was mostly to establish the character and mystery. Main dude seems like a pretty cool character. His mixture of paranoia and stupidity are fun. It'll be interesting to see how he deals with being thrown into a serious situation. Mayuri is a character I wasn't a fan of right now. Her airhead personality is more annoying than charming. I suspect there's more to her that'll get shown as the show goes on. She seems like there's more than what's on the surface. I will admit, the vending machine toy bit with her was pretty cute. Hacker dude is the worst of the main cast. Boring stereotype. No interest in him. He's just so rote and bland. Adds nothing so far.

Core mystery is really cool, though. I can't wait to see it all unravel. There's so much here to parse. If done correctly, the core concept has a huge amount of potential for great mind fuck moments. I really enjoy those when pulled off correctly.

Really? Seems like a pretty typical first episode for the sort of mystery based show this seems to be. Nothing that would make me insta-drop. I enjoyed it well enough. Maybe that's because my expectations of what the show was and the reality were so far apart.

The problem is it's badly directed and edited.

The dub wasnt too life ruining until the very end when it went straight to hell :(

That really is a formidable looking demon design.

You picked a GREAT series to start. when this show gets going, it is amazing. It might become one of my all time favorites. One thing to keep in mind. Pay attention to EVERYTHING. Even the smallest details might have repurcussions.

Granted, most of the people I know dropped at the initial airing, before the organization built up around it. Many probably would have endured the ep, had the show had such the wave of hype behind their respective watchings too.

and that was enough to kill one childhood.

EDIT: Well aware that Steins;Gate is something someone recommended me watching months ago. Like I think a month before marathoning Precure. Not sure when I'll get around to that.

My main issue with the introduction (at least to the VN), is that I don't think they effectively convey Kurisu as an intelligent character. It comes across more as an informed trait, and for whatever reason, it just wasn't a suspension of disbelief that I was willing to roll with. And seeing as it forms, what seems to be an integral aspect to her character, it's a definite stumbling block.

No one that clever, wears something that dumb!

That will probably happen to me when I get full-time work as a primary school teacher in four-years. Although I'll be too busy to hang out on IRC anyway.

Megas XLR 202

Power Puff Girls episode. MR. T-BOT IS THE VILLAIN OF THE WEEK. I'd also like to note that in the second season animation seems to have improved considerably, most notably in the area of Kiva's face, which could be a bit off-model at times in the previous season, but is looking a lot better this season around. The show's popularity I assume is what grants this extra budget for better looks for Red.

Nobody is trying to buy a Jaime action figure. And that's terrible. Magnanimous' intergalactic TV show has got to have the shittiest ratings ever. I mean you're broadcasting across the galaxy and only countless millions are watching? Dude, your show sucks.

MECHA.

FUCKING.

ELVIS.

PRESLEY.

This show is the most beautiful show. Thank you based FelixOrion. Thank you.

I was like that initially, but gave it another chance and it jumped all the way up to my number 3 for the year. The first few episodes are seriously slow.

Sailor Moon Sexy/Spinning 99

Yuichiro's back, and he's performing for you, he's the sufferingest of the dudes in love.

And another one mistakes Haruka for being a dude, which also implies that Rei was in lesbians with Haruka (it is one of Haruka's talents).

Sadly he jumps to conclusions. But things are fixed like a show usually is. At least Yuichiro still exists. Can't say the same for Ami's cock.

You're almost half way done with the series!

The following two episodes are two of my favourites.

Turn A Gundam 11

First time I've heard the OP and it is TRIIIPY. Tomino was high as fuck when he did this entire show. Only answer. Also Corin seems to know the Turn A is a Gundam even though it barely looks like a Gundam. It's like if a Gundam was your bald, mustachioed father. Lots of ambiguity concerning who is Diana Soriel that I expect will only escalate as the show goes on. Meanwhile this whole war thing is finally heating up and I'm pleased about that. Question, though: Is the Sun Belt Zone attached to Inglessa? Cuz I was assuming Inglessa was you know, England, and that Ameria was the North American continent, and that the Sunbelt Zone was the Equator.

I don't think I actually started watching it until like August during the initial airing, after it was determined it was, in fact, a pretty good series, and hype had built up considerably (well, obviously, considering that was during ACTUAL SPOILER
the save Mayuri Groundhog Day part
).

I was also over a month late to Madoka. As in I didn't start watching it until late May, over a month after it ended.

The only big anime in 2011 that I wasn't LTTP to was Penguindrum, and that wasn't even all that big, was it? Not compared to Madoka or Steins;Gate, at least.

Well, there was Persona 4, I guess.
