MAHOU SHOUJO ALPACA! Would watch.

Kingdom 2 - 9

Excellent choice of background music made this a really phenomenal episode. Was sad at first it was a three parter for this arc, but this episode made it worth it.
too bad none of the transport survived :(

By Goddess you are of course referring to the Holy Matron of Ass Kicking, Her Grace Melissa Mao, I assume. Because Mao is the best girl and even perpetual pervert Kurz Weber knows this.

But yes, Melissa and Kurz will be in a couple episodes of the show, too.

Aaaargh, it hasn't even been that long since I watched FMP and now I want to see it again.

Mao and Misato are the secret-best characters of their respective series..es. lol

I've never felt enough wahjah to want to stop watching until this episode. I hate it when I trip and people make a big deal about it, and I hate spilling restaurant food almost as much.

Full Metal Panic! Fumoffu - 9

Holy shit, this episode was rather damn explicit. Didn't know KyoAni used to roll like that.

And that was some amazing animation/cinematography/whatever on the military scene.

It is when most fans are obsessed with the tween leads!

I like Kaname and Sousuke a bunch, the series is my fave and all, but I mean c'mon. Melissa Mao is where it is at. Girl isn't the team leader for no good reason, after all. And effed up as Misato was, she was where it was at, too. I liked Asuka and Shinj, but Misato was the boss.

I hated everyone in Rah Xephon, but Haruka was the one character I could kinda tolerate.

It's a proven formula. Purple haired big sister character.

PBS does something about Evangalion.
PBS gets new anchors for Newshour.
PBS keeps same stupid policy about Downtown Abbey.
PBS still cant get Viz to dub Wolf and SheLamb.

The World with Out God is awesome, the world is a perfect symbolism for our world today- the zombies reprecenting the culture lead by nothing, and those that have the job of trying to bury these folk - preaching the truth of death when all prayers fail.

If only Trayvon Martin was watching Thundercats instead… damn you america, damn you!!!!!

Please. There is a time and place for that type of Irony and that wasn't the right words. Its still too emotionally raw. And im not talking about the Thundercats either.

Large proportion? It's like 4 users tops that are responsible for the porn links and you can just ignore 'em.

If only, their links flood the chat at times. IRC is always going to be a little more close to the bone, but I generally find a lot of the discussion in there to be quite...unsavory, at least from a core few.

Makai Ouji - Devil and Realist 05

Still bordering on kinda boring and amusing at times.

Though we now got females entering the series. Dun dun dun.

How quickly we've forgotten about Gangnam Girls. One day crunchyroll will be knocking on our doors and The Prophet will save us all.

Episode 2

As has already been mentioned by most everyone watching the show, this episode really slows things down in terms of it's pacing as it doesn't have to tell an entire manga worth in one episode and moves onto the new material. Being a fan of the first work I was disappointed in how it is left open ended and just kind of stops. I like that this new work focuses on an older Jun and it was sort of interesting how it takes the idea of parallel worlds so that the first manga still counts as part of the story and that this new work sort of acts like a sequel then but at the same time it's an original work as well.

MJtUAfX.jpg

For a story that normally had quite a bit of presence by the dolls since the main narrative heavily revolves around them, then having an episode here where they're not really present, it was still entertaining and it was nice to get to know more about this Jun and how things have changed since he was younger. The fact that there was also a change in how he first meets Shinku through ultimately having this side story of having to build her was an interesting change added to this parallel world idea. Another detail I thought of was that of the kind of visual transfer where seeing the box with the book in that it was kind of a square bisected by a line in the middle reminded me of the letter again from the first episode in that it's what starts Jun into this whole story of mystical dolls and their Alice game.

Again I'll sort of just be echoing others somewhat in saying that this second episode was really well story-boarded again. I mentioned last time you maybe didn't get the full sense of Jun being a hikkomori but there are still hints. The clock I mentioned in the first episode is again prominent right at the beginning of this episode and I didn't note the actual time itself before but Branduil makes a good point in his comments that you can see Jun is waking up at about noon so you can get a sense of his irregular schedule. The transition from younger Jun going down the stars changing to older Jun walking up the stairs is a nice touch. It's subtle but another thing added to help with contrast is that when Jun first circles "to wind" the pen ink is blue but when he circles "not wind" the second time, the pen ink is red.

You get much more of a sense of Older Jun and his isolation as the episode goes along but hints are given even right away when you first see him at the station and he is shown to be standing alone while most others are in groups or closer to each other.

The following shot above when Jun is at university is a good example of his state of mind and current situation. Both in this shot and one just before you can see than Jun is sitting alone and at the back of the classroom. The shot even further highlights his isolation as he is the only one shown in the frame and the camera is shown such that he is sitting away even distancing himself from the viewer.

While Jun never confronts anyone directly you can see him upset with his fellow classmates writing "die" in his notebook and talking to himself that they just seem to want to fool around. He seems to be a case where an isolated person might get somewhat of a superiority complex and think less of others. This seems to also be shown in the shot in that even though there are technically a couple of people to the side of him, his sitting at the back puts him at the highest physical spot and he is therefore literally looking down on others.

There's really lot's of examples in this episode to show his isolation, all of it coming across as fairly realistic and helping the viewer better understand Jun at this time. You see her last episode and just very quickly in a flashback this episode but as he got older you can see that Jun moved away from his sister to live all alone and doesn't come across that he visits with her much. At work Jun is often by himself working in the back while the others are out front. Branduil makes mention of it again where there's literally a physical wall at work separating him from his boss and co-worker most of the time. It makes it like he's there but not there at the same time.

At first I gave his boss the benefit of the doubt as it seemed reasonable that Jun's personality could make him harder to approach or deal with but as the episode goes along you can see he's more of a typical jerk type boss where he's often shown just slacking off making others do the work. Seeing Jun often with a frown on his face or tired looking while you see the quick cuts to the time card being punched in and out and you get a sense of the mundane, melancholic regularity of Jun's life at this point.

I was going to use this image anyway so I borrowed it from Branduil's comments on the episode. She just has a really nice, warm smile here and she gives off that kind of cute girl next door type feel that Branduil mentions.

All hope isn't lost for Jun however as his co-worker Saitou opens up to him apologizing for just going along with the manager. From there the two begin to get to know each other better. You see she wears a key on a necklace and there's even a quick cut to it saying "pay attention to this" so I wonder what it could ultimately be representative of. The quick little story book side story that starts up in this episode adds another little bit of mystery that I wonder where it will ultimately go.

There were other interesting bits of framing that maybe didn't focus on Jun himself but still his actions. Right near the end of the episode when
older Jun is being contacted by his younger past self
, it's verbally being mentioned about the piece of paper and that he chose the "not wind" option. While this is being spoken the camera seems to be focusing more on the trash bin and there's even what looks like a piece of paper prominently sticking out of it. Almost to visually symbolize that Jun (unknowingly of course) sort of "threw out" that of the wind world when he chose the option to "not wind".

It was just a really well done episode I thought. I didn't even get to things like the music but as others have mentioned it's not only well done in general but really helps to highlight certain tones or moods in different scenes.

Haha, this kind of went longer than I thought again. Just a sign I really like the show I guess. Thanks again to those for reading.
