They understand what they're good for, protecting the Prince and the Princess. Also Time Paradoxes are happening because of NTR, this is why NTR is bad folks.

Despite using the power of holding hands, the crew gets seperated into 4 different groups: Mercury/Uranus, Mars/Neptune, Jupiter/Venus (OF COURSE), and Saturn/Pluto/ChibiMoon. Obviously there's a pattern to these set ups beyond trying to show off Jupiter being in lesbians with Venus, but they have polar opposites on their team, Brains and Brawn, Water/Fire, Death/Afterlife/Reincarnation, and well... Waifu/Crazy person.

We get our Brains and Brawn on, although I'm not sure how they'll cram the other three in considering how this took a half an episode... although resolving a fight with whatsherface shouldn't take too long.

Just keep promoting Reisagi. I'm okay with this.

Well I just flipped through some episode and non-characters are killed in horrifying and disgusting ways nonstop. If they're not a main character it must be the assumption they're going to be killed. One would then have to assume that their death will be as gruesome as possible. That to me is violence porn surrounded by a "poorly paced" anime. I really don't see how people could enjoy this sickening display.

I keep thinking that the script wants me to be in this position where I should like Kirito the badass, but know he's Kirito the MMO addict. Like, there's that whole other level that's never mentioned, but the intro showed it, so I think it pivotal.

why this show gotta be so deep tho

I think that was one of firehawk's big criticisms. Kiritio's portrayed as this ultimate badass whose skillset consists of:

Moretsu Pirates/Bodacious Space Pirates Episode 5: Alright, this show is starting to get good as the Hakuoh Academy Yacht Club (WHY IS THIS A THING?) gets into a dangerous cyber chess game with an invisible enemy and Marika Kato begins to show her prowess as a captain. I did appreciative picking up on subtle details like when to react to things and not tipping their hand, lesser shows don't deal with those kind of details. A few exepcted twists and turns and a revelation about fellow MC Chiaki Kurihara later the day is saved when a massive run in chases the unknown assailants away. This show has potential but boy howdy am I glad to be out of what amounts to the prologue of this show and am finally getting god damned space pirates like I wanted in the first place.

The deaths in Shingeki are far too humorous for me to be shocked by the violence in any way, shape, or form. Hell, I was in hysterics when
Eren's mother
died at the end of the first episode thanks to the music and CG blood flying everywhere.

comedy of the year imo

Man, this is really the "shit on Nanami" series of episodes. I wish I could feel worse for her, but she does deserve it. Still, that ending!
Twist undoing another twist. They really are sibling and now Touga's super creepo. Whatatwist.jpg

Utena 33

Oh, another recap. Can they really afford to waste time as we get so close to the end? Well, at least it has a nice framing with the whole Akio and the car radio. Wait a minute, what's going on here? What......what.......Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Utena likes to talk about food during sex apparently. Huh.
Dear god, how much farther can this go?

There is war, there is titans, people gets eaten others gets stomped, people live in fear of death and so on and so fourth. I don't see how that could not be violent show. Like I said, I feel the gore is censored most of the time anyway and is no way indicative of the amount of casualty that should occur once titans invade a city, especially with the way they try to hit our head with all ''tragic' monologues and visual cues like we were 5 year old children.

However, unlike certain members here, I never found it comical, but very dumb and poorly executed violence. Hunter x Hunter shows how you can be impactful whilst showing a death scene.

Can anyone argue against me calling Titan violence porn? What an atrociously disgusting show. How in the fuck do people enjoy watching this?
I really don't find it more violent than other shows/manga. It's still targeted at teenagers.
I was more disturbed by some scenes in Hunter x Hunter than by Titan.

One of the missed opportunities of Sword Art Online, as far as I am concerned, is that we never really have to see Kirito cope with solving problems in a world where he isn't a math badass.

I think it is fair, in some ways, to compare Attack on Titan to zombie movies and shows, and in particular The Walking Dead (because both have suffered from some really bad pacing). If you look at AoT as a zombie show where the zombies are giants instead of, well, zombies, it makes sense that there is so much gore and violence. Those are the trappings of the genre, after all. No one watches a zombie movie and says "that was so violent! and so gory!" because, well, you should know that going into it. Granted, AoT doesn't look exactly like a zombie story, but I feel like it has quite a bit in common with them, what with humanity hiding behind walls from man-eating humanoid monsters they cannot understand or communicate with.

About time the second season started coming out. I'm glad this show's keeping up with it's great episode set-up's and the ridiculously over-the-top bouts of sakuga.

oh and the endcard was done by uno makoto of all people…

Turn A Gundam 18

This was a pretty intense episode, really, highlighting the way that Diana and Kihel trust one another, whilst also growing in two separate directions. A really good Princess and the Pauper sort of thing going on there. Of course the Terrans have to screw things up the entire time, because that's how they've been since the days of the Earth Federation, which I'm assuming in this timeline has been defunct for a long, long time. Anyway, Teteth continues her hijinks, and we get to find out a bit of her motives, too. The best scene in the entire episode for me, though, was Loran's break-down at being told that Kihel and Diana had switched places some time ago. The guy beats himself up a bit too much, considering he had noticed some differences in their personalities and behaviors, and he didn't know Diana well enough to distinguish her from Kihel, but I digress.

It occurs to me that in 18 episodes we still have no idea how the Lunarians lead their lives. What is life like on the moon? Anyway, things are looking up, but I hope somebody fixes the Turn A's head sometime soon.

Watamote 6:

I don't think I've lost my shit so thoroughly watching a single episode of something since Nichibros. It's always a great show, but it's definitely a funnier show when Tomoko's delusions are spectacularly backfiring on her than when she's just being awkward and depressed. Of course, both of these are still essential to the experience.

I think that was one of firehawk's big criticisms. Kiritio's portrayed as this ultimate badass whose skillset consists of:

  • good at videogames

I actually defended this point at length.

...until episode two aired. hindsight's a bitch.

Well, he also
gets the better of a grown man in a one-sided knife-fight, for what that's worth. 'Course, that could just be part of characterizing Sugou as a sissy villain.

Dai-Guard 10

Show's gotten right serious, now. Akagi's caught a cold (from trying too hard to talk to Shirota, who I'm pretty certain at this point is not Japanese), Ibuki's mom tried to throw out her dad's book, and Aoyama's mom is back in the hospital. These three things have effected each of the pilots at the exact moment that the military unveils its own Anti-Heterodyne mecha, the Kokubonger (and yes that name is mocked multiple times), and in the end, rather than pulling together to defeat the Heterodyne and show up the UN military forces, the Dai-Guard team spends its time at one another's throats, fails at the competition, and makes a huge fool of itself before failing to defeat the Heterodyne. At the episode's conclusion, Akagi's own cold is revealed to the other members of the crew, and we see that Ibuki is waiting outside his hospital room. I'm not sure if Aoyama is there to see his mom, or Akagi.

There's also a subplot about Akagi's college professor, who presumably taught a class in "How to Pilot a Giant Robot-onomics 101". This guy is the pilot of the Kokubunger, along with two faceless dudes from his course, or something.

What in the fucking fuck is Blood C then

Blood-C takes a lot more pleasure in its violence than Titan does. AoT uses violence for "dramatic" effect to underline how grim the setting is.

I only watched the first episode of Elfen Lied, but that had some hilarious violence porn.

Pretty much. He has no real discernible qualities that make him stand out. In fact, he's not even good at video games, he just happened to play the game before everyone else and used that as an advantage.

But that's a completely different skill-set. It'd be like saying because we all watch anime, we should all be fantastic artists.
Eh, very different.. being a gamer would make you familiar with some computer thing, at least good enough for modifying .ini to play Skyrim if you ask me. I thought the topic are about SAO not mentioning Kirito capable to doing thing than playing game anyway.
The real #gamechanger was Kirito's mom. Grrrl, how come she didn't get more screen time?

Saving incest material for next season.

I can't do anything on a technical level to do with computers. Being exposed to be something doesn't necessarily equate to proficiency.

Whichever way you spin it, SAO handles character development, and by association, the overall narrative, poorly.

The show has bigger problem than what you call ''violence porn''. In fact, considering the settings and the themes behind it, I would argue that there isn't enough violence and gore.
Completely off topic, but with you posting here I realised I can now say I've met someone from this thread A HA HA.

Well, if we want to go into stupid land, Kirito is also a
kendo master
, which somehow translates into in game skills. So this is a game that half works on actual game mechanics and half works on having physical abilities which renders any of those game mechanics moot.

Then again, the entire premise is stupid anyway... yet somehow I'm still talking about this fucking show. :(

LOL.

I thought its obvious I pointing that just because its hilarious that Kirito supposed to being japanese Steve Jobs or something, and like firehawk said I don't even mention his kendo skillz.

Yeah, to be fair it was mostly at the club afterwards so it was only a brief chat.

Dammit, I would have loved to talk about Anime and stuff. I honestly don't know anyone who likes it in real life which is somehow depressing.

correction; I have met couple of people who like Anime, the problem is; they are pretty much influenced by it if you know what I mean.

Don't forget that Kirito's actual skills in the game translate back into sword skills in real life. His muscles atrophied, but he mastered video game sword magic in real life whilst in a coma.

If you're talking about the
dual-sword skill
, that was indeed
granted by Kayaba to the player with the best reaction times (basically sync ratio with the Nerve Gear, lol) out of all players, in order to give him a better chance of defeating him once they reached the endgame.

If you're talking about the fact that in episode 14 Kirito was
able to defeat Kayaba after supposedly dying himself, that was "transcending the rules" bullshit (which, oddly enough, turned out to be something Kayaba was hoping to find all along).

I remember Kawahara saying in one of the Accel World afterwords that he's never able to resist including some kind of "breaking the established rules through sheer force of will" aspect because he has a fetish for it/it's really cool you gais or something. He realises this comes across as a complete asspull to a lot of people, though, which is why in Accel World he turned it into an actual system with its own defined logic (the
Incarnate System / "shin'i"
).

Well, if we want to go into stupid land, Kirito is also a
kendo master
, which somehow translates into in game skills. So this is a game that half works on actual game mechanics and half works on having physical abilities which renders any of those game mechanics moot.

I don't think
Kirito was a kendo master or anything before starting SAO... If I'm remembering right, I think he learned kendo for a bit as a kid, but ultimately gave it up and only his sister carried on with it. So while I'm sure what few kendo skills he did have were a help when he first started out in SAO, for the most part it's the opposite: the only reason he can hold his own with a sword in real life is due to all his experience swordfighting in SAO.

At any rate, it makes perfect sense for real-life skills to translate into in-game skills and vice-versa (to an extent), since the game functions just like real life for the most part. The game gives players a few key advantages (stat boosts allow players to become much physically stronger than in real life, and Sword Skills allow them to carry out complex/precise attacks with great speed and little effort), but for the most part, using a sword in SAO works just like it would in real life.

Even in the case of Sword Skills, they work by means of a "system assist" which guides the player's body into the correct motion; it's possible for the player to influence their motion to some extent while they're in effect, and after using them for years on end, the player develops a familiarity with their motions so that it's possible to replicate them to an extent even without the system assist.

Are we leading up to a Nisemonogatari reference? But no that wasn't me. I was the one wearing (or probably carrying at that point because it was so hot) a jacket if that helps.

I don't really talk much about anime outside of this site since I know it'll just lead to embarrassment. I haven't seen most of the shows everyone has seen (GitS or Evangelion for example) and the shows I have seen no one else has. ┐(-。ー;)┌

I think that he was referring to
his beating Sugou, in spite of the guy wielding the best weapon in the game and being, you know, invincible. Of course, receiving help from a mass murderer his spirit mentor in the Digimon world or whatever probably figured into that, too.

Come to think of it, the number of times Kirito won fights without winning them kind of bugged me. Not as much as Flit Asuno and Setsuna F. Seiei never having to actually win anything, but it was still annoying.

Yeah, ever since I started GAFfing my anime watching slowed down considerably. Impressions also break my flow when marathoning episodes too.

Like I said, Movie 1 is kinda lame. Movie 2 is real. (and the actual ending of the series.)

Not even gonna...

I certainly hope someone gets distribution rights for this over here.
It would be kinda apt in the case considering the original digital master has this strange tint that resembles the shorts on my avatar.

It's a 35mm remaster like Escaflowne too. Gonna look fantastic.
