I like tgat they took the time to do this. Really fleshed out the K On world even more. Wish more shows did this.

Showed my friend Watamote after having to change some settings. Whats so mature rated about it? Is it because it deals with personal issues or something? why is every other show allowed under normal settings? whatever. He found it to be very uncomfortable to watch. Personally I just love the fuck out of it.
Need to watch episode 3 now actually.

Tsk, tsk. Of all the artists who have performed anime OP and ED songs, Annabel is among my favorites. She has a sweet, clear voice, and the song she sings are generally well composed, with good structure and instrumentation.

I think it makes a difference when Omata himself processes his storyboard. The OP has much of the same visual flair but isn't nearly as consistent, nor goes as well with the music, as this one (the OP was storyboarded by Omata but directed by Naoki Murata).

To be fair, there's not much you can do with the Ali Project song. I like the OP very much, and it has several killer transitions, but the ED leaves a stronger impression on me due to having a better song and being dedicated to a particular thematic vision instead of needing to showcase each individual doll.

Besides the hypothetical differences in skill between the two artists, splitting the storyboarding and unit direction credits generally makes for weaker end products, as the former has to keep fluidity of communication in mind since he's drawing for someone else while the latter will have to work around someone else's vision.
At the very least, it's much more cohesive when one person handles the whole process.

That's theoretically true, but I don't think episodes 2 and 3 of Rozen Maiden are less impressive than the first episode, the only one Omata directed as well as storyboarded. If anything, they're more impressive. I think it's just that Omata's skill shines more when he has material he can be methodical with.

I think it had arcs but the pacing and transition was so smooth I hardly noticed it. One thing I can say is, you probably will be on the edge most of the time after every episode, you'll hardly notice the length of the show.

I do like how they make the big deity figures CGI only to barely animate them. Laziness to the max.

Because it feels like Kenji "[C]" Nakamura is back with a vengeance and I find Hajime's brand of genki completely unbearable. I might pick it back up later on if it manages to pull a Tsuritama and turns out good.

I caught episode 3 of Prism Ilya the other day and thought it was pretty funny. Not something I would actively seek out to watch but not bad at all. I'm excited for Love Lab and Free! tonight though.

At this point, the only show that is a definite "watch" for me is Gatchaman.

Haha, well, I don't generally like anime OP/EDs, I listen to completely different music. I do try to find things to like in most of them, but I often fail. The somber pace of the song does complement the ED perfectly, that's true at least.

Episode 1 didn't have much of a chance though, they had to summarize an entire manga worth of content.

I like Omata's style, he seems to have absorbed much of the good parts of Shinbo without trying to become a copycat, like many other SHAFT directors. I do wish he could work on more interesting subject matter, but Rozen Maiden is going very well so far.

So far from what I've been keeping up with this season:

Uchouten Kazoku > Love Lab >>> Monogatari S2 > Silver Spoon = Gatchaman Crowds >>>> C3bu

Can't say I'm too interested in anything else this season. Uchouten and Love Lab were the big surprises this season. Monogatari and Silver Spoon have been fun but I've already been invested in the stories and characters of both of those series so that may or may not have helped my enjoyment of these adaptions. Gatchaman has been good but not great thus far, imo. The gaudy art design and the stilted dialogue has been bringing it down a little but like with tsuritama, I don't doubt that the show will get better as it goes along.

Seems that the main cast has been decided for the upcoming Kanojo ga Flag o Oraretara LN-to-anime adaptation. I don't think anyone really knows who the characters are so I'll just list the seiyuu:

MC: Ryota Ohsaka
Main girl (I think): Ibuki Kido
Others: Ai Kayano, Kana Asumi, Kana Hanazawa, Yoko Hikasa

Well if you didn't like the designs then I literaly have nothing, that's what sold me on it and the anime still doesn't have that "OH GOD, JUST WATCH IT" I just like to watch my lolis cry.

Yes, Omata doesn't feel like he's being gimmicky for the sake of gimmicky. (See Shin Oonuma's work on shows such as C3 and Dusk Maiden for an example of that.) He clearly puts a lot of thought into every shot, which can't be said for most people who work at Shaft (or most directors in general, honestly). I'd like to see him do a straight-up character drama, since he's really good at that, but Rozen Maiden is at least better material than Sankarea. The anime is making lots of improvements over the manga as well. It also feels like he's matured further as a director, and he's gotten better people to assist him, such as Mochizuki, so as long as he continues along his current path I'm happy.

Nothing too impressive animation wise, but I'm still digging the art and presentation with the manga sound effects and other stuff. This is also acting as a great refresher for me, as I've almost entirely forgotten the beginning of the manga (which is the standard for me with monthly series).
