I was glad to see that as the harem stuff and random characters preceding it was annoying. Exploration, light as it is, of how his death changed the people he knew is vastly preferable even if presented in a comedic fashion.
Well thanks PrecureGAF. I kept telling myself to stay away from this franchise after Heartcatch, but every time I see a picture from this show posted, I say to myself: "Wow, those are some pretty awesome character designs", then I remember it's a Precure show.
But now I found myself unable to resist the temptation now, so here we go!
This is probably the first mahou shoujo where the main character's hair changes into a radically different color when transforming. I mean, I was expecting a lighter red or something, but whatever.
Well, in Precure alone, you have Peach, Passion, Sunshine, Rhythm, Melody, and Echo with notable changes earlier. Mana's pink -> blonde transition doesn't seem much more radical than Hibiki's orange -> pink, if nothing else.
Get use to i--- actually, the plot should start moving in a bit.
Interestingly enough I think one of the issues I have with this series is because there's a lot of plot related moments in the second half of the series.
Dokidoki is a great show. Many people will try to claim otherwise, but they're just joking, I'm sure. No one can deny Mana's Dokidoki's greatness.

In the case of Heart, I don't really know why she had such a radical change though, I mean she had pretty... not natural hair color to begin with. They didn't need to go all the way of making her blonde.
Preorders that come in before street date do not change to in-stock on the site until the actual street date. The item is simply shipped to the customers that order when first available.
As for discounts, that all depends on if the item is bargain bin, part of the weekly specials, or attached to some other stipulation. Most items are already 25% off or more, so there are plenty of savings (especially around the end of the year).
Ah ok cool, yeah I didn't really get back into anime until about February this year and caught the spring season. Used to buy all my anime at DiscountAnimeDVD, or Amazon

Thanks for the clarification, they had some 10% code or something and I was curious whether it'd be applicable. Awesome that they ship out preorders right when they get them. Will definitely keep an eye on this site then
Has anyone read the beginning of the Sword Art Online: Progressive manga? I thought it was pretty interesting, something that wasn't particularly conveyed well in the anime or LN.
I take it you're not familiar with Japanese airsoft otaku, huh? Even though it's essentially a parody of otaku culture, you should watch Otaku no Video (which, coincidentally, was also made by Gainax).
But then, everyone should watch Otaku no Video. It should be a prerequisite for being an anime fan.
In a country with no real gun culture, what you have are gun otaku instead. I know a few actually. Hell, airsoft stores are pretty popular and you can buy guns without the orange tips no problem.
I dropped Heartcatch because I really couldn't get into the whole "heart flower" thing and the stupidity of the villains, as hilarious as it was. I may resume it since Doki may essentially be the same thing, plus I have my mindset that all the Precure shows take place in the Gurren Lagann universe.
Some people seem to misunderstand what "Dark" really means in an anime. A show is "Dark" when it has an element of risk. Fairy Tail for example, as lighthearted as it is, has some dark elements to it. The villains goals may end up being cliché and uninteresting, but there always managed to be an air of mystery around them and how they worked things out was always unpredictable. It does a good job of foreshadowing, and there is a sense of genuine risk.
In Doki Doki, I kind of like how the person's inner dark desires turn into a monster based off what their thinking. Like how a person wanted to cut the line and a crab came out of him.
So what if a guy thinks that he should hack his game console to play pirated software? Will a pirate with a hacksaw come out of him? The possibilities are just endless!
This was certainly something. The garden sleeps soundly tonight.
Animation was pretty standard and plotwise it felt like it really wants you to experience the source material but I suppose that's the status quo with this sort of thing. The ED sequence was the best part of the whole thing. Also that teaser at the end.
I give this 3*(5^-1) SDBurtons

DokiDoki! Precure - 1
Oooh, this actually looks kinda dark! All this despair and tragedy, and the only way to stop it is to make a contr-
Oh, there it is. Happy-go-lucky opening. Madoka jokes hold no meaning here.
So we start off with who is probably the nicest nicey nice character in the history of nice. And her blue-haired friend is telling her to be less nice and think more for herself. Pfft, the world needs more people like her. So they're at Tokyo tower huh? Funny, I remember another Magical Girl adventure show wher-NOPE NOPE. I did not see that show at all and therefore will not make any reference to it.
What the hell kind of a disguise is that? You can't disguise a celebrity with only glasses and expect people not to notice! Superman's disguise is more tricky than yours!
Good crap! When did this shit become Itchy and Scratchy? He literally ripped that guy's heart out!
...
Y'know...For me to have any possibility of enjoying this show with its crazy logic involving people's common sense, I am going to pretend that it takes place in the universe of Gurren Lagann. Why? Because hey,
maybe this entire franchise gets their powers from Spiral Energy. It makes sense when you think about it, with all this energy from the heart crap. Maybe they're on another planet in the same universe. I can't think of anywhere else where a giant crab coming out of nowhere would in any way be considered acceptable by anyone.
Either all, I don't think I should be questioning common logic in a Precure show. So I'll stop at this point.
If Apple made a phone like that, they would have a monopoly.

Okay, first episode and not a spec of unnecessary merchandising. It's definetly a bit darker than Heartcatch so far, so lets keep going.
well you 've only have seen heartcatch , then you could have gone for splash star or smile precure that are good.
Don't get me wrong , dokidoki is not bad , but it isn't on heartcatch level yet.
I do have to admit that some characters design are nice .. so have fun !
ps: its's not that dark of a anime

Heartcatch does have an element of risk though, moreso than Doki Doki (or the rest of the series for that matter). And Fairy Tail is definitely something I can't consider as Dark, considering it robbed any potential of me taking it seriously.
That and I really don't care about a person's inner dark desires for Doki Doki because they're as expendable as the monsters themselves. They come out of nowhere instead of having build up, and thus are lamer versions of Heartcatch's monsters. The only thing that looks cool is the fact that they get their hearts ripped out.

Certainly. It's creepy from the perspective of people who know what actual gun culture can be like.
Japan doesn't have that though. It only has a low level enthusiast culture that will never reach the point that it has in the west. Living here in Japan, I don't find it all that creepy anymore, though I would if I still was in America land.

And now we're back to morgul blades -- wait hold on, Nikaido WHAT ARE YOU DOING THERE
I know that it's not a game anymoooore~
Alright so this season is on a time limit. Feels like ALfheim all over again................ hnng
I love meaningless runes. You can totally read the english in it lol
So I wonder if Elsie is going to actually do things in this season or be nearly useless like she has in the past. ): But hey, it looks like Haqua's actually going to be a part of this season! Aww yiss.
This is the first season I've watched non-dub, so I need to get used to the voices... OH man, the middle schooler girl D: hnngg and so the girls who I like more aren't going to be in this season. maaaan. At least I have Shiori, best girl of S1.
hehe Haqua's got a cruuuush. <3 and the obligatory bath scene. BAKA BAKA BAKA
reaching the endings again? so... redoing conquests ... instead of doing the ones I wanted to see. whatever, I guess I can deal with it. At least Kami-nii-sama is still following his modus operandi.
Hey hey we're actually going to conquer one of the new girls this season. hooraaaay.
WELCOME BACK BEST GIRL
oh and hey we're going to conquer another new girl. and hooooly shoot she's awesome.
...she was best girl in the manga wasn't she? hnnnngg. oh sheet now she's being paired against Shiori. Jealous Haqua is jeaaalous. Aww, Elsie looks like she's having the best time masquerading as Kanon.
This episode ended too eaaaarly. gah I can't wait another week for this, I need some conquest magic
Hmm, I see the Bakemonogatari BD's are finally hitting our shores but they seem a little pricey. How much did you American's have to cough up for them?

You can hardly call a show where the villains don't say
"Hey! Couldn't we just take these heart things back to base as well instead of just leaving them on the ground so that our plans for world domination won't end up getting screwed over by teenage girls?"
and say that there's an element of risk. These villains are about as threatening as Bowser and his minions. Yeah they could cause some destruction, but all in all are just generally stupid to the point of being hilarious.
You know what? I might pick up Heartcatch again just to see how low they go. That and one of the villains is Luke Fon Fabre. You can't go wrong there.

You should probably refrain from further comments on a series you haven't really finished, considering it's your biggest downfall here. Not to mention that based on your comments, you can pretty much apply that to any Precure series.

Utterly fantastic. As if I didn't need more going wrong on my life, my laptop just completely failed. Dunno if it's salvageable or not. Some stuff was backed up and most of my browser stuff is on the cloud, but I may have lost a fair chunk of multimedia.
Of course I can keep tabs on basic web stuff via smartphone but this will largely put me out of commission for the next week or so, if not more.
Really great show even if you don't care for Basketball. Most of the characters are interesting enough minus the dog mouth guy as well as likable minus Aomine. The music was great too (although I can't for the life of me find the name of this song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQFT6VUG9jU. Can't wait for season 2.
This is pretty much the only SOL show where a male is my favorite character. If there were as many men as manly as Hosaka I would throw away my heterosexuality and live in harmony with the handsome Curry Fairy.
I bought Steins;Gate set 1 today, so that will give me the complete series when it gets here. Amazon said it would be a while though. But I can wait. Excited to start it though since most people say it's great.

I can only hope all of this series and OVAs are picked up by FUNimation, seeing as they simulcasted the fourth season, or by some other U.S. anime company. Truly enjoyed the series even with the second season's questionable plot.
Just change it to Dedication Thru Lite. That'll save us all some space and make you sound like a convenience store on a highway in Mid-Western America.
