he probably meant the whole list is kind of bad, I'm sure he likes some of those anime. I don't know, considering the top 5 - FMA 1st and Clannad 4th - it doesn't really look very solid or reasonable to me.
Oh, they sure raised the bar... more than a decade ago with the second Ghiblies episode, among other support work for their film projects. Unfortunately, they ended up disbanding their in-house CG department helmed by Mitsunori Kataama (that precisely works at Polygon Pictures Inc., the ones who are aiding with the animation production of this upcoming series).

but the ranking is the whole point of that list. even if it isn't I wouldn't put mediocre or arguably bad stuff in a "top 20 best anime ever", that should be a start for a solid list.

I read Ronja when I was a child. The story is like a childhood friend. Imagine you have a childhood friend and see her after almost 15 years and all of a sudden she became CG!
