Not really, I mean, there was a bit of sibling drama at one point, but it comes later and it's related to tanks! It doesn't drag on or anything. This was the very first thing I watched back when I first subscribed to crunchyroll, and I thought it was a lot of fun.

Awesome. Will post impressions as I marathon. Gonna watch Barakamon first.

Barack Obama 2

Two episodes in, and this is the best show of the season so far, fighting Nozaki-kun. How funny would it be if the two best shows end up being light-heart slice of life comedies?

Man I was enjoying the whole episode. Just like Log Horizon I didn't notice the episode had ended. All the expressions the characters do are fucking amazing. Naru and Sensei are the perfect leads. Sensei isn't nearly as angry as he used to be and Naru continues to be the right kind of adorable and hilarious.

The middle school girls were great, the new blonde hair student is great, the wife of the village chief is great, and the married nurse with a spark for sensei is great. The scene of "NO SENSEI I'M A MARRIED WOMAN" had me in stitches. Holy fucking shit this whole cast has been hilarious, whoever wrote this has my congratulations. I need more of this show. God damn plz the week wait is painful.

SAO II 2

A whole episode where they actually play the game and not just talk about it? How unexpected!

Surprisingly good episode. I'm going to attribute that to the absence of Kirito.

We love you, Ryousuke Takahashi!!

One of my friends I showed the sketch to pointed out that Aika doesn't have her gloves while Alice still does, which doesn't make sense considering Alice becomes a Prima first.

I don't really mind that much, but I thought I'd throw it out there in case there is any sort of dialog between Mockingbird and the artist.

I haven't actually seen the show so I wouldn't know, but make sure Firehawk knows so I can ask the artist to change or not. I'm merely handling the logistics for the commission but artwork direction is all firehawk.

Episode 1 of Terror in Resonance was really good. This was a special surprise because I didn't even realize that Watanabe had a show this season until just recently when people started talking about it (I must be out of the loop). I thought Kids on the Slope was just okay. Well produced and directed of course, but a bit lacking when it came to style. It seemed to sort of slumber along. My wife however, loved it. I speculate that this is because the show featured romantic conflict and beautiful bishounen male hotties (redundant I know). But this is really important for women (note: I do not actually speak for women so don't flame me).

That brings me to my next point... During one of the hentai panels from last week's convention the host revealed some fascinating information on the differences between male oriented comics and female ones. In the example he gave, two pages were shown on screen depicting very similar encounters between the two genders. These pages had almost identical panel layouts. In the ero-manga targeted toward men, the scene depicted an embrace, followed by several panels showcasing close ups (as you'd expect) of the female's crotches and butts and stuff. In the ero-manga targeted toward women, the scene showed the same embrace, but instead, it was followed by several close ups of the male's beautiful, shimmering face. A sudden epiphany... when these gratuitous and lingering shots happen in anime that shit is like porn to them! They're even lewder than we thought! And they've been hiding it. RIGHT IN FRONT OF OUR FACES!

He is on to us! HIDE!

I think it's too early to rank but so far...

What I'm enjoying most:

Aldanoah Zero
Mahouka Koukou no Rittousei

Enjoy:
Sword Art Online II
Baby Steps

Good thus far:
Barakamon
Akame Ga Kill

Ok:
Glasslip
Railwars
Monthly Girls Nozaki-kun
Zankyou no Terror

This season is really lacking in a solid romance/drama/comedy. Last season there was Kawai-sou, and before that was Golden Time and Nagi no Asu Kara, and before that was the same + White Album 2.

Well given last season for me had Seki-kun and World is Still beautiful probably on top I wouldn't be terribly surprised to be calling Barakamon #1 at the end of this season. Of course I called it AOTS after seeing #1.

Terror in Tokyo 1

It's been a pretty long time a show like this sent a chill up my spine in the opening episode. The team behind this really did nail the terrorist aspect, now let's just hope it stays that way for the rest of it.

Will do. I'll PM him.

Barakamon - 02

Another beautiful episode. Man, that nurse was asking for it, though. She wanted it bad.

Gonna grab a snack, then start my Girls und Panzer marathon.

Rokujouma no Shinryakusha 01

This was pretty typical in the first half, though I guess I did enjoy they threw some hints on it about the upcoming crazy. I kinda lost it at this point and was fully aboard on this after this scene in the second half. I really do hope they keep the crazy up for this show.

Tonari no Seki-kun OVA 2

Merciless even in the snow.

Barakamon 02

All this energy and expressive makes it such a good show.

Dog Days' 05

And suddenly everyone's a ninja.

Shounen Hollywood 02

Yeah, this is more slice of life than what I expected it to be. Not that its bad but I'm just more used to idol shows being nothing but singing and dancing.

Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC V 13

Perish the thought that someone could have gotten the right cards to do your special summoning method. It was bound to happen, no need to go into full scale depression over it.

Oh man, I just now saw that Kawai Kenji is doing the music for Barakamon. I fucking loved his soundtrack for Folklore (ps3 game). One of my favorite soundtracks from that gen, period.

SAO II 2

ooh video games happening. the iron sight bit is nice, besides the goofy finishing blow, the rest of the eps was solid enough. Hope battle strategies still come in play after Mr Stu arrives to save the waifus/day.

Kawai's great attributions to DEEN's F/SN adaption was almost able to bring it up to mediocre level for me, but sadly it just wasn't meant to be. His rendition of "Emiya" is damn great and probably the best of all the different "Emiya" tracks out there.

Aldnoah Zero 2

This is worse than boring because it's just interesting enough for me to not drop it yet, which I want to but won't.

It really is because it has all this pedigree and it just can't possibly fucking suck you know? It'd be like if you got an amazing club soccer team filled with great players and their play styles clash so much with each other that they end up sucking together.

Also speaking of Aldnoah, I see I wasn't the only one who found the music choice jarring. Like I enjoyed the choir in Attack on Titan in here it was inappropriate and amateurish.

Because of the people behind it, I kind of want to watch Aldnoah, but the thing is I just dislike most mecha anime. Can't get into 'em. Very few exceptions.

tokyo esp 1

wuuut that cameo at the beginning.

Wonder why they never done a Ga-Rei anime.

Anyhow lots of stuff happening all of a sudden, hope next week stuff is explained a bit.

PSA: Blue Exorcist is shit. SHIT!

Carry on

I thought it started out with a lot of promise the first episode. I was all "holy shit a shonen about badass church priests and a blue demon dude"

then they went into the magical school bullcrap and I had to remind myself that this is the lazy route for anime.

I didn't notice that Alice was wearing her gloves. I'm going to ask for a no gloves on everyone and then we can assume that the picture is after the end of 12 but before the last moment timeskip in the finale.

Holy shit! Now all the close ups make perfect sense.

Thank you based sakugabooru for compiling the cool animated scenes of SAO II so I don't have to put myself through actually watching an episode of it.

That one Valve VR dude who resigned clearly watched SAO and went "NOPE" to a VR future

Girls und Panzer - 01

Hm. Didn't appreciate those bitches in the student council attempting to blackmail and bully Miho into joining. Oh well though. Guess nothing can start without her joining.

Liked everything else.

This was a nice ending to this cour. What started out as super average fantasy animu about Arthur MacGazffin's remains turned into something really great about a displaced military during a time of peace, a discussion of them as tools vs individuals, and how playing the role of hero can be a real shit deal in the end. Looking forward to the next cour to see where this goes now.

And lolis, right? Can't forget them!

Aldnoah Zero 1

[...]

In conclusion, Aldnoah Zero episode 1 is an episode of anime where people talk about a lot of things. They talk about these things because it's a fictional world where we, the viewer of the anime, don't know what is going on. But it doesn't really seem like they would be talking about these things, realistically. It would be like someone from AnimeGAF explaining very basic things about anime that everybody in this thread already knows. That would be silly.

Now I want to see a show where a character explains stuff that every other character in the room would already know but the audience doesn't, and then someone reply back saying "What are you talking about! Everyone knows that!".

Actually, I figure that Gintama has already made this joke.

But I have to explain the two sides of the Naruto vs Pain fight every time it's brought up.

Just rewatched Berserk Golden Age Arc trilogy of films. His review

"holy shit this is awesome. Everything looks like Attack on Titan"

I then went on to explain how this is an inspiration for many dark fantasy games and series so it wouldn't surprise me if yes indeed this is an inspiration. The castle/town Griffith grew up in looks exactly like the AoT town, 3d bell and all. He now eagerly awaits the rest of the movies. I don't have the heart to tell him that they probably won't ever come. The curse of Berserk.

RIP. People can't even see that the CG future has destroyed anime :(

Aldnoah's second episode was the culmination of the CG revolution, that scene where the
Aldnoah was chasing that teenaged terrorist martian scum girl, it was consuming all of the 2D in its wake!
Very, very meta.
