Episode 1 of Terror in Resonance was really good. This was a special surprise because I didn't even realize that Watanabe had a show this season until just recently when people started talking about it (I must be out of the loop). I thought Kids on the Slope was just okay. Well produced and directed of course, but a bit lacking when it came to style. It seemed to sort of slumber along. My wife however, loved it. I speculate that this is because the show featured romantic conflict and beautiful bishounen male hotties (redundant I know). But this is really important for women (note: I do not actually speak for women so don't flame me).
That brings me to my next point... During one of the hentai panels from last week's convention the host revealed some fascinating information on the differences between male oriented comics and female ones. In the example he gave, two pages were shown on screen depicting very similar encounters between the two genders. These pages had almost identical panel layouts. In the ero-manga targeted toward men, the scene depicted an embrace, followed by several panels showcasing close ups (as you'd expect) of the female's crotches and butts and stuff. In the ero-manga targeted toward women, the scene showed the same embrace, but instead, it was followed by several close ups of the male's beautiful, shimmering face. A sudden epiphany... when these gratuitous and lingering facial shots happen in anime that shit is like porn to them! They're even lewder than we thought! And they've been hiding it RIGHT IN FRONT OF OUR FACES!
