Just never look at Kotaku ever again, don't give them the hits.
I can't stop. His reviews. They're so bad the hipster in me demands I keep laughing at them.

It's like Patricia Hernandez making everything sexist. It's just ugh. They know exactly what they're doing to get me to keep coming back out of sheer curiosity as to what bull crap they came up with this time.

Ah Ah

This guy is hilarous

so dragonnar is a guilty pleasure ?? what was his last guilty pleasure ? let's see ...

"walkure romanze"

......

Lol

I would, in good conscience, recommend this anime to no one.
Ok so why are you talking about it ?

Though, on the other hand, it does have dragons.

Sigh*

well At least the writter understand that this anime is flawed ( and i say this as someone who enjoyed dragonnar )

When you get into it , his review is not that bad...

It's not as bad as his other reviews which really makes you think about his tastes when he's so straightforward about these really bad shows and so controversial on actually good ones. I want him to review something like Monster now

Bad: doesn't have any decent waifus. Is this even an anime?

Chihayafuru S2 - 02

Not quite done yet with this episode but holy fuck, how in the world am I supposed to give a fuck about this girl Sumire. Oh she's looking for a cool boyfriend! Now that's what I call an interesting, rarely seen angle. I mean she and this other new guy will have their character progression but I don't want to go through this shit again; not halfway through the series anyways. And supposedly they need 5 new members...

Maybe I actually need to skip some sections this time around.

I wasn't sure about Sumire at first, but she wound up becoming one of my favorite characters in the show. All of the characters wind up having some great moments in the second season.

Yeh have to say, since episode 2 she didn't really have many annoying moments.

edit: Oh jez, a foreigner team in Chihayafuru. Let the Engrish commence!

edit2: Holy shit, it's actually justified!

Just say that you like lewd stuff. Why do some people acting like shy 12 years old mother's boys?

Because if you tell your audience on a mainstream website that you enjoy looking at cartoon breasts they will think you're a bit weird and stop reading your articles, probably. Kotaku is not the place to indulge one's Pixiv fetishes, methinks.

Kotaku is not the place to go for anything except humor that was intended to be humor.

This is a website where one of the more popular commenters is a guy whose avatars are usually some lewd shit and he's known for posting gifs. And usually he posts lewd gifs. And everybody loves him. I'd say they would be fine with it

Watching AnoHana.

Halfway into episode 4. I'm sorry, but this huge plothole is driving me absolutely insane.

If Menma can touch things, make freaking bread...why can't she just make something float in air to prove she exists? Push someone. Do anything Even if she really isn't real and it's all in Jintan's head, this is something she should have thought of while Jintan was being made fun of. Fuck. It's driving me nuts.

Ojamajo Doremi ♯ 40
...
This episode, man. So goood. In a season that has concerned itself with parents and their children, it stands out as the most sensible and touching meditation on the theme.

I'm most impressed at how the protagonist isn't any single person but the whole Harukaze family, and everything is tied organically without a hint of melodrama or unnaturalness. A few flashback shots and a couple of lines is all that is needed to understand Haruka's plight. The grave mistakes she made in the past with Doremi still haunted her, causing her without notice to disregard Pop's feelings and wishes. Raising children is tough work and can be emotionally exhausting, but in the end it's all entirely worth it. That is what Ojamajo Doremi says here, and it's done beautifully.

It places firmly as the best I've seen in the franchise so far.

And this will still be one of the greatest episodes I've ever seen even with me being done with Ojamajo Doremi.

They manage reach this level again in later seasons, right? right?

Also after having watched it, it's apparent now that the best way to consume the movie is in conjunction with this ep. Gotta keep that in mind on the occasion I revisit it.

There's definitely some more stellar episodes coming your way. Dokkaan has quite the amount of stellar episodes in particular (especially the final stretch).

I cried. I cried. I've never cried watching an anime. They're cartoons, they're not real. But they are real. They're as real as you want them to be. As I'm typing this, all I can think of is my friend who commited suicide three years ago. She was one of my best friends growing up. Although we only met once in person, she was my other half, like a sister. She got me through my childhood and teenage years. My family moved four times in six years, state to state. I never had a long enough period to make friends, but Julie was there for me. When my father suddenly passed away when I was 17, she was there. When I failed out of college and was incredibly depressed, she was there. The guilt I felt. I wish I had her back. I wish I could talk to her like in this show. I wish I could tell her so many things. I wish.

Questionable motives be damned. This anime moved me like nothing has moved me in years. I haven't cried since my father passed away, ten years ago. Over a damn anime. I can barely see what I'm typing. Fuck. I think I was holding this in.

Thank you. I'm not sure why I decided to watch this show, I think it was because I saw a post a few pages back where someone mentioned it. So, thank you.

It feels good.

Edit: Wow, this might be too heavy. Sorry. :(

Cardcaptor Sakura 3

I think I see why cajun likes this show.

Pancakes!

Is it just me, or do all the guys have really wide shoulders and proportionally small heads?

Voyeurism ho!

Random mention of a walk-in freezer.

Well, I'm glad Sakura isn't slow on the uptake.

Yukito with an axe. Somehow I find that a bit unsettling.

And Kero is turning into Woofdawg with these bad puns.

So right after finishing Eureka Seven TV series I decided to pop in the movie right after.

Oof.

Big mistake.

Reading the wiki on the movie felt like I was reading a fanfic.

The stuff was so bad I could almost see a "Warning! Extremely AU! Characters may get a bit OOC, but it's my first fic so please be gentle" plot summary at the top of the page.

I agree totally. Having lost someone close in my family as well, Anohana was a deep gut punch after another. So many of the themes were resonant with what I went through and brought all those feelings back to the surface; guilt, self-loathing, rejecting the outside world, etc. For all its melodramatics, I adore that show.

Decent set-up episode for the big battle next episode. I didn't notice the ED artwork changed every other episode either. Although this one was just full screen versions of the first variation of the ending.

Yeah, reads like a fanfic written by someone who wanted Eureka to be a helpless dove who clung onto Renton for the entire film lol. I can't count the number of times she just cries screaming "RENTON SAVE MEEEE"-- ugghh. Turning Eureka into a "Renton, baka!" character was straight up painful.

The visuals were astounding though. Amazing for 2009.

The direct homages and imagery to the finale of the TV series was nonsensical and added nothing but confusion to what was purported to be a stand-alone alternate story. There's no arc or growth in any of the characters, the love story just paved the way for incredibly ham-fisted dialogue uncharacteristic of the franchise.

And I would be remiss if I didn't mention what happened to Nirvash, lol. That thing added nothing but annoying "mokyuu"s throughout its excellent action sequences.

Just a bizarre thing overall.

Erio, Tsugumi and uh... Vert from Neptunia? I can roll with that.

I hope the last episode is the main girl going on Japanese Chopped and winning.

The Legend of Korra Season 3, Episode 11:

It is now a time of chaos
with the Earth Queen dead, and she is dead, let us not mince words here and Ba Sing Sae engulfing itself into the immolation of anarchy.
Zaheer and his group are continuing their rampage against the nation of the world unless the Avatar surrenders for reasons that are sill not adequately explained.
This time they have their sights set on the Northern Water Temple because genocide against the Air Nation is just something that villains in this franchise are just going to consider. Anyway, it is going to be an episode or two before Team Avatar reaches the temple so in its stead we get, well, probably the best bender battle of the season thus far.
It is shame to see this season season doing so well creatively onto to be shafted and shunted like this. That being said, there are still problems, like I still don't know enough about Zaheer's group to really care about them, they are really getting by on sheer badass right now.

Oof.

Big mistake.

Why would you do that. There's a scene where Hap and Stoner try to rape Eureka.

Please do not watch the sequel next unless you like:

Code:
-TRUTH
-White haired pretty boys with magic energy powers
-Retcons which shit all over the ending to the first series for no reason
-Poorly handled time travel!
-The idea of Renton being Holland instead of Renton
-TRUTH
-Fake horns
-Irritating references to other anime
-And much, much worse

What's wrong with 2009?

I guess more that the reused animations from the 2005 series more than held up in that time and the film in general was one of the most impressive looking of that time, even including Summer Wars and Eva 2.0, both of which I liked.

I was gobsmacked at that scene. And the death scene that occurred right after lol

WHAT DID THIS SCENE ACCOMPLISH?! FUCKING NOTHING.

I remember watching the first few eps of this when it was airing with no knowledge of its predecessor. Thinking back on it now, it's just bizarre. It's nothing like Eureka Seven. It's just a super dry politically driven show with some otaku bait and no fun personalities.

They were super annoying to listen to in SRW Z2 as well.

Ano Hana - 3

Straight-Haired Anaru is better than Twin-Tailed Anaru.

Seriously, the twin-tailed design reminds me of the Punk Girls from Pokemon X and Y.

Dude, read the room. Someone has just posted about how moving they found the show for intensely personal reasons, and you're making a nudge-nudge-wink-wink reference to a terribad porno fanfic?
All right point taken. Again wasn't trying to be a dick. I just love it so much since it was introduced to me back when I watched the show.
