Pace is rather slow. Don't really care for any of this party stuff. I hope there's an Eclipse coming

looks at number of cajun's posts in anime gaf
looks at my own total number of posts and seems that it's a little more than 1/9 of what cajun posted in these threads

I should probably post more

I'm sorry to rain on your parade and hmmm enthusiasm but is this really necessary ? The interest will be miniscule and flooding OT with a parade of anime voting threads frowned upon.

I haven't even seen 5 romance anime lol,

Anyway, it's just going to be the top 5 romance anime on MAL or something along those lines, if that isn't the case the sample size is probably too small.

The results of a top 5 isn't even a good way to find anime that you'll like, it would be better to just ask in this thread if anime X is good or something.

Sorry it took me so long to reply. I was driving to work.

Only reason to watch after that point was just Yuki Kaji.

The last two episodes were like the best episodes of the entire show. Huge payoffs, great music, and all the feels.

Its seriously one of the funniest shows in recent memory.
Momoka is the best kind of selfish jerk. Well timed humor and absurd situations abound! You are in for a treat hehee

SO Key once again has a show at the top. Amazing how loyal Key fans are. Is Charlotte good? I see lots of slapstick abuse gifs lol.

Yeah, Sabagebu is pretty great. I really enjoyed it,

And Charlotte is really starting to pick up. The last episode had me on the edge of my seat. It's getting really good.

It's an oddity. Maeda warned everyone the first 5-6 episodes would be slow (very SoL/Schooltime stuff) before it picked up with plot events. Let me just say that bastard wasn't joking.... Big impact in ep. 6.. Looks promising going forward..

Oh man. I am waiting for the truth bombs to drop and for the MC to go a-wall.

What happened to the OST thread anyway ? I'm going to assume Texhnolyze won.

I represented Texh hard in that thread :p But Patlabor was obviously my number 1, the best soundtrack for the best anime.

EDIT: Also avatar change! I don't recognize you anymore, stranger :p

Hmm, just adding a couple updated links, I thought it would be helpful and fun to get some updated opintions. If it's not welcomed or felt necessary by the majority, I'll refrain from adding further voting threads.

Not sure what happened to the OST thread; doesn;t look like it has a summary, unless I'm blind:

All stats apply to Anime-GAF threads that are in OT Community (so the stats may be missing stuff from several years ago where it was not posting in the Community forum):

Anime has the 5th largest community on GAF, with 640,000 posts. It's somewhere around 1% of all GAF posts. Of course this doesn't include Manga-GAF, Toonami-GAF, or communities for shows like K-on (69,000 posts), Love Live (~30,000 posts) or others like Naruto, Kill La Kill, or One Piece.

Top 20 posters of all time:
cajunator (35796) <-- now that's dedication.
Narag (14493)
Jexhius (13345)
firehawk12 (12276)
Branduil (12265)
Dedication Through Light (11551)
wonzo (11102)
KirbYuuYuu (9862)
duckroll (9340)
madp (9266)
R_thanatos (9024)
Theonik (8925)
CorvoSol (8835)
Jarmel (8556)
Regulus Tera (8347)
Admiral Woofington (8214)
Chet Rippo (7651)
kayos90 (7582)
dakkumauji (7504)
Articalys (7292)
...
...
Stumpokapow (32)
...
...
If anyone feels uncomfortable being on this list, PM me. I'd appreciate if others don't quote the names of anyone who hasn't registered being OK. This is kind of an experiment and depending on how useful you guys find it I might consider posting similar stats in other larger general-purpose communities.

122 users have posted over 1,000 times. About 3,000 unique users have posted in AnimeGAF over the years, so the average user is posting around 200 times. This puts AnimeGAF at about 12th on the ranking of "most dedicated users", which is actually not bad relative to its size because it shows the community has core members but also is somewhat welcoming to new users.

Terrifying. I'm worried about what that number would look like if we added in Off Topic threads. I mean, I'm glad they don't because then I'd be above Narag.

Maturity, bitches.
I know I've not posted in here for like a week so I likely missed it, but why do we need this for the OP again? It's already busy as is. Also what's to say the next OP volunteer even uses any of these results for their OP?

Same here. To me, "top" anime polls will often result in mainstream ones winning by mere virtue of having a lot more exposure than less well-known series, making such polls less about finding interesting anime and more about just knowing what's popular. I mean, SAO was a popular anime a couple seasons ago, for crying out loud (which I'd never recommend to anyone). I'd rather find underlooked anime to watch right away than having to sift through the rankings full of mainstream shows I've already watched until I spot one I haven't yet.

I also think that some categories such as "cute shows" or "twisted shows" are a bit too specific for their own good, when SoL tends to encapsulate "cute" and we could use drama and action categories instead. Individual threads also seem like a waste of space, but I guess I'll check them out after a while in case I happen to find anything interesting.

MonMusu 6

I don't even know what the fuck I just watched, lots of great scenes, I especially loved that Darling fucked up that director guy, he deserves his harem.

Also that scene at the end, we in there.

MON next episode is also nice.

Yeah, I also don't see any need for this stuff in the OP.

I'll also say that if the OP ever includes a "Top 5 'Feels and tears' anime", I will retire from these threads immediately and recommend that the remaining family members pull the plug.

No worries, I get it, nobody wants it or feels it's needed. I was just trying to help by getting some recent/updated information since Jex went through all the word to search for the threads and TUSR put them all in the OP. The threads were just ideas, but I get it, I'll leave it at the one I posted, which is getting pretty good responses so far. (none from regular AnimeGAF either, for the most part.)

Wait, WHAT? No way... You have to do it!

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
Perhaps its time to retire animegaf so we may all know of jexhius, firehawk's and duckroll's shame forever.

You're all not getting off that easy, we're sticking with the script and sinking with the ship. We'll be remembered as martyrs and when Dragon Ball Z Evolution Super 2 is released, we can finally rest.

Monster Musume 06

Ok I heard Darling's neck snap this episode, Christ.

Also more human on human violence! Miia was humming the OP at the end, I love that trope

Next episode we can finally stop FUCKING AROUND WITH THE LESSERS and get to the QUEEN

I can't even begin to imagine what atrocities these Top Lists have caused you. You have my prayers friend, stay strong.

Haha I'm not going to pressure you into watching Patlabor
right now
because you obviously have a lot already on your plate, trucking along, I'm not here to break a man,
at least that's not the intention
...but you should watch Patlabor. The best series of all time bar none, I think you'd love it :) Best soundtrack ever, best characters ever, just best everything.

I'm not surprised I didn't end up making that list. I didn't become a regular in AnimeGAF until 2013. And even then I didn't post as much as many others do in here.

Can't wait for the next season of Pretty Cute. Orange is my favorite.
Pink Red is the best.

Girlfriend (Kari)/(Beta)

An anime about a large cast of high school girls living out their lives. Yes, it’s very slice of life and yes, the girls are all absolutely adorable.

It’s really hard to talk about the cast of girls, in 12 episodes we meet at least 20 different characters, heck it’s probably over 30. There are a lot of girls so it makes it incredibly hard to remember even 1/4th of them. Fortunately for the viewers, there are only a handful of girls that are focused on; such as the beautiful gymnast Kokomi Shiina, or the French transfer student Lemaire Chloe. These two girls are in most episodes and make it easy to remember who they are. We also have Sakurai Akane, Mochizuki Erena and Murakami Fumio, more girls that appear in most episodes.

The best way to describe Girlfriend (Beta) is to imagine Kiniro Mosaic, take away all the really cute scenes, make the characters look older and slow the pace down; you end up with Girlfriend (Beta) and it’s actually a lot of fun. The episodes are in an episodic form, the stories are all very much drama-free and relaxing, and the girls are adorable and very cute. There are heartwarming episodes and it’s all very much a feel good show.
So I skipped this show because it literally seemed like "Waifu the anime" based on the fact that it's supposedly an "adaptation" of a Love Plus-like girlfriend simulator, but I was curious how you would actually make a show about girlfriends when a) there's no protagonist and b) there are hundreds of characters. I guess it just makes sense to throw everyone they can into the show and appeal to everyone Kancolle-style by just letting each character do their particular waifu gimmick.

(Kawai complex DVD)

You're kidding me right?
DVDs only? A show with its art style only getting a sub-HD dvd release here is some serious bullshit.

(I only say this since I just re watched the series in HD after getting a crunchy sub and I love the art)

What you said sounds about right, though I'm not sure about any waifu gimmicks, they all seemed like rather normal girls just living day by day doing their own thing. I'd definitely recommend it if you're looking for something slow and awfully cute, since that's what it really is.

Namiuchigiwa no Muromi-san (Muromi-san)

So one day I was talking with some great people when I happened to link an image to a super cute mermaid. I then followed it up saying I need more mega cute mermaid pictures when Cajun came out of nowhere and recommended Muromi-san! What a recommendation, what an anime, it’s absolutely crazy!

Muromi-san is about mermaids who are nothing like you’d imagine. Muromi is the star of the show, she’s over a million years old, is super cute, hates birds (don’t all fish?!!) and loves the land! We also have Takka-kun, the young boy who happens to fish Muromi out of the waters! This begins the anime and all the crazy things that happen! Each episode is around 13 minutes long, they are quite episodic, they make no sense at all, it’s super cute and it’s best to not try and make sense of things that are thrown your way!

For the mermaids, we have Muromi, as stated above, then we have Levia-san (Leviathan), she’s also ridiculously cute, has an amazing mermaid body and can transform to an actual Leviathan when she chooses; she’s also responsible for destroying civilizations and all sorts of things! There is Fuji-san, she has super large oppai and Muromi-san can’t stand them at all; Muromi will grope, pull and use creatures of the ocean against Fuji-san’s large oppai; yes, it’s very very very ecchi/lewd. We also have Hii-chan, Muromi’s “imouto”, though not really. She likes dolphins and other aquatic animals and is also super cute. Sumida-san is the last mermaid, though honestly, she’s not in much of the anime to be remembered unfortunately =(. Aside from cute mermaids we also have a yeti (Trust me, you have no idea) and a Harpy (nothing like what the legends describe as). Yeti is a super small, super cute girl who rescued Harpy when she was caught in a trap and a friend of Muromi. Harpy…. Well she’s a harpy in only the cutest and most anime of sense; she’s a small “harpy” who forgets everything she just remembered every time she takes 3 steps…. Yeah it’s really funny, and because Harpy is a bird, she loves to try and eat Muromi any chance she can.

The cast of characters are great, there are a few others that get some screen time as well, and the combination of Muromi and co. make watching Muromi-san incredibly fun. The entire anime is what I would call ecchi and lewd, though not in ways you would expect, I guess. It’s very much a comedy and slice of life though, so if you like that type of genre and you want to watch mermaids do things they probably shouldn’t or couldn’t do, this is right up your alley!

The art style is incredibly simple, there is no detail in just about anything, aside from Takka-kun and the mermaids + support characters. Maaaaaybe because of a budget, maaaaybe because it’s a short, no idea why, but it’s noticeable. It’s also not entirely bad either, since Muromi-san somehow avoids the need for extra detailed environments and things of that nature. The colors are really vibrant and eye popping though; it looks really good and is very pleasant. Animation is another area in which I would have to say is…. Poor I guess. There are many repeated frames, either to prolong a scene or to give effect to something happening, it happens a lot more often in the latter half of the anime too; once again, I feel like it’s a budget thing or Muromi-san just wasn’t taken seriously or something… I don’t really know, but I doubt there is a good excuse for doing it on purpose; on that note, animation is not its strong suit.

Music… Hmmm, good question. The OP starts off really well, but has these minor/quiet death growls that sort of just ruin it for me; I tend to skip the OP once that section comes on. The ED is fantastic though and totally worth listening through 100%. The rest of the BGM and ambient sounds are forgettable I guess. Honestly, I just got done watching the short and am having a hard time remembering a memorable piece of music or anything. Could be my fault or not, but it’s not that much of a strong suit.

Overall, Muromi-san has super cute mermaids, it’s a short which only lasts 6 normal episodes of anime (13 short episodes), has some amazing and ridiculous scenes with Muromi and co., and is totally funny and very very cute. It’s also a bit on the ecchi side and that’s always fun too. I think it’s worth a watch, especially since it’s not very long at all. A solid 8/10.

When Girlfriend Beta was airing I thought it would be interesting if it ran with a system that allowed the audience to ring in and vote on their favourite character, and based on the results the show would change course. As the show went on there would be more things to vote on, such as whether or not the protagonist agrees with his girlfriend or not, whether he should text her to see how she's doing or leave her alone, if he confronts her about his suspicions of her cheating, and so forth. Basically like a televised visual novel. I mean sure, it would cost a huge amount and kill the studios making it as well as a number of the staff working on it, but hey, it's a cool idea at least.

That's very cool, but don't most shows typically have like one mega popular waifu; like that one girl everyone just simply falls for hard? I'm actually glad Girlfriend Beta was a nice slice of life, though I agree, super cool idea and the people working on it would most definitely get exhausted and things =(.
