yep. Which I approve of.
rejected girl isn't going to fall for him simply because he was nice to her when she was rejected.
She deserves someone. :(

I overall quite enjoyed Nichijou while I couldn't offer Nichibros a damned smile, though I eventually stopped watching it all together I think. Honestly, there was nothing memorable about that show for me and it may just be relatively weak direction. Stuff like the literature girl isn't bad conceptually but I just didn't find the presentation funny whatsoever.

Nichijou's humor isn't mine either necessarily, but it deliver plenty times in spite of that, which is rather commendable.
To be serious for a second, they're two different styles of humour. Nichijou is clearly going for the cartooney physical comedy while Nichibros was more situational and character based comedy.

Being onii-chan is suffering. I'm not sure whether he's happy with his life or not. He's not satisfied with his job, but he doesn't seem to hate it. He spoils Umaru rotten even though she drives him crazy. He could get a girlfriend if he wanted to, seeing how a coworker is interested in him, but he doesn't have the energy for that. And he helps out friends who keep on making trouble. Cool bro. Bomber is less cool of a bro. Sylphyn has excellent priorities.

She definitely does, but unless they want to go into an arc about she finds someone, it ain't happening. She has already been brought back down to very minor character status, nothing is happening.

Heroic Legend of Arslan 4-6 Dub

I dunno why fell behind on this, ignoring the unfortunate awful cg-i this series is fantastic. I'm sure some people would say "just go watch the better version/read the book/manga" but as a whole I really like this art style by the FMA author and enjoy seeing it in motion.

Make a spinoff about her and dude's sister having wacky college adventures as they try to get over their first love.

I really wanna like Arslan.

But being 19 episode in, I gotta be honest.

It's a story that feels like it's missing chunks of it.

Maybe that's the adaptations fault, I don't know.

Also, episodes 13-18 feel entirely pointless, and feel like filler, even though they're not.

Saw Haibane Renmei and Lain blurays were coming again too. Time for that Despera hype train to begin moving again.

They're getting reprints? Cool! I have the Renmei blu-ray that I imported somewhere but still haven't actually seen the show. I heard the Blu-ray wasn't all that hot however visually. It has English audio however which is helpful :p I really do feel that my appetite to watch it has come and gone however.

EDIT: Right you are, cheaper versions are out in Japan for Lain and Haibane on October 23rd. 13,000 Yen each.

Holy shit you are right LOL.

I always seem to enjoy the very last little story at the end of each episode. The first few are always silly, but the last one always seems to have a little more than just comedy to it. Onii-chan's memory of their
mother
was pretty sweet.

Jin Roh: The Wolf Brigade

hqdefault.jpg

The world of Jin Roh is certainly not a happy one. After Japan suffered large losses in WW2, the country pursued an economic policy that all but seemingly abandoned the average citizen. (It's actually not all that clear which side won WW2, though the German weaponry shown so heavily in the film doesn't bode well for the Allied forces.) To deal with the civil unrest, or more directly, the terrorist hiding among them, the Japanese government formed the Kerberos Panzer Cops. I would almost describe the world of Jin Roh as an empty world. Other than a few scenes, you get the sense that very few people are happy in this version of Japan. People either seemed to be furious rioters, nervous cops, sleazy backstabbing officials, or people just going through life half asleep.

tumblr_mww8ewj1ap1stgzqbo4_500.gif

People to run away from really fast if you've broken the law.

You may read all that, and think Jin Roh was an action movie, and while it certainly has action scenes, it's more of a political thriller mixed with a really depressing romance. (I'm not even sure if romance is the right word to be honest.) Our main male lead, Kazuki Fuse, speaks very little, but says a lot with his actions as well with his fairly disturbing delusions. Our main female lead emotes more, but is perhaps even more broken in some regards than our male lead. You get the feeling that both of them want to escape, to get away from their lives, but they can't, or in one case, refuse to.
They like most people in this film, betray each other, both of them, really. And while both of them seemingly show regret for their actions, it's not enough to stop the ending we all know is coming.

While I don't know if I'd say that Jin Roh is one of my favorite anime movies, it's one that's gonna stick with me. It's a cruel movie in many regards, that type that doesn't give the audience what they want. There's no real catharsis to be had here folks, but you'll appreciate the world it peers into, even if it leaves you bitter afterwards.

It's one of my favorite anime movie in my collection and I do go back and watch it when I have the chance. Your take of this movie is interesting and understandable based on what is happening in this movie. Here is my take of this movie from the last time I watch it.

You see the main lead male character (Fuze) is been train to work as a pack of wolf fighting as a team not thinking of himself as a person. The incident in the beginning of this movie, change that as he started not to follow his military protocol when he was engaging an enemy. You see the consequence when not following it which basically push him out of his military team and been alone for the 1st time. During this time, the main lead female character show him how life is outside from the military and try to get him to live a normal life as a human.

Unfortunately, this won't work as Fuze was train to think and follow like a pack of wolf into battle and this type of life isn't something he can adjusted well. You can say this is why the relationship between them won't work and this was foreshadow by the his instructor in quote, "Tales of beasts getting involved with humans always end on a bad note. Beasts have their own tales to weave. " Literally telling the audience the relationship will end in tragedy.

You opinion about the two main character betray themselves, I don't think their betray themselves because they want to. It's most likely Fuze have not change at all when he was with the woman. You hear this from the same instructor who talk to the woman as Fuze was getting his gear on in quote, "We are not men disguised as mere dogs. But wolves disguised as men. " This been proof one more time at the end of this movie when the same instructor ask Fuze to finish the job and he have the same doubt which get him to the same issue in the beginning of the 1st movie. The instructor told him, "Do you want to leave the pack and live among the humans? What you know that even a wolf takes a guise and lives among them he never be truly human. " This tell us he will never able to live like a human in the world outside of his military training even if he want to. At the end, Fuse's loyalty to his pack proves stronger than his love for Kei.

Still, a very tragic tone movie which is still a good movie in my book. Also, another thing I like in this movie is the soundtrack. It match very well and love the tone of the music so much that I actually go found out the musician who make it and now I am his fans of his style of music.

Has anyone here seen the live action movies set in the Jin Roh verse? They're directed by Mamoru Oshii of Ghost in the Shell fame. I wanted to buy them but they're difficult to track down.

You mean The Red Spectacles and StrayDog: Kerberos Panzer Cops? If so, then yes I did watch it long time ago when I watch Jin Roh. Um....I guess the best way to say this is those live action movie isn't as great as you expected so put your expectation down a bit. Also, it's slow pace style movie with little action and quite a few unusual stuff they add in. I have a feeling you will hate those movie or get bored quickly. Also, don't believe the trailer for those two movie as the trailer have almost all the action scene you will see in the movie in it.

I will say it's interesting to watch it for the 1st time with some artistic stuff you see in the movie (this is mostly target at The Red Spectacles). But if you expected those movie to be similar to Jin Roh, man....get ready to be disappointed.

I would advice to go read the manga as it's much better and give you a better idea of the Kerberos saga.

Ok guys, ya'll need to save me here. I just finished the first episode and this kid is moving back to his hometown with his twin sis. after his parents died. Sad, right? Well, he already has about 6 chicks that want to jump on his pole since he is so hot. Well... aside from that, I watched two scenes where the sick and frail twin sister that has to stay at home alone, was visually fantasizing about making out with hI'm (bro) (pretty damn passionately at that) brother. Then in the final scene, she is shown (not a fantasy this time) stripping off all her clothes in her brother's room in the middle of the night, asking him to make her cum.

It immediately got shut off. WTF is this show? The MAL never mentioned anything about any incest shit. Has anyone watched this before? Is it safe to continue watching? Ugghh.

Slightly traumatized atm.. worse than a School Days troll..

I did. They were mainly just plodding bores.

Thanks for the replies guys. I've heard that the movies aren't very well shot and are directed like an anime which doesn't result in a good film. I guess what intrigues me the most about them is how they're set much further after Jin Roh and show what happened to that fiction universe. The overall poor reception of the films is whats made me hold off on paying the price people are asking for them online but would like to get them just to have in my collection. It does make me wonder if Oshii has improved in live action direction and whether his recent Patlabor films are any good.

Watch something classy like Boku wa Imouto ni Koi wo Suru instead.

I did. And no its not. One of the few shows with actual incest that I've seen. Twincest even. The show has a wikipedia page with episode summaries if you are curious as to where the fuck it goes.

Boku no Pico watch bet incoming

Is it filled with incest, or does he kick her ass out of him room, that what I need to know.. You all know something!

I think this was a MAL rec from Clannad of Full Moon.

Follow porn rules. If somebody goes into your room asking you to fuck them, and you're a porn/hentai protagonist, chances are you do it.

We can't ever have a nice day without sex-topics in AnimeGAF lol

You listen to MAL recommendations? Pardon me, but that is hilarious.

How the hell does this:

Synopsis
Haruka Kasugano and his twin sister Sora have lost both their parents in an accident, and with them all their support. They decide to move out of the city to the rural town where they once spent summers with their late grandfather. At first everything seems familiar and peaceful, but changes come as Haruka starts to remember things from his youth.

Turn into Twincest shit? Damn, I'm mortified.

Well he sleeps with all the girls one by one. It's a new trend for dating sim/porn game adaptations to do a main story, and then branch off to adapt one of the girls' endings before doing a soft reset and continuing on to another.

For the entire series. the sis is thirsty as fuck for the bro and sometimes even catches him doing the dirty but they get together in the end. Like, in all the ways you don't want to think of.

And then they both die and go to incest heaven.

I still use MAL, the difference is that I take their rec and I go read a bunch about the show before I consider it.

Unless I was specifically looking for a shitty good time anime

You might like Amagami SS. It's dating sim shit without the murder-incest.

Also, Sex Hair (wow that brings back memories)

Um...from the last live action movie I watch that is direct by Oshii, it didn't improve as much as you expected. Also, most of his movie is now have this anime feel with tons of CG stuff. I guess if you like those stuff, then his movie are okay. For me, I think it might be better if he stay into Anime stuff than live action unless he is not in control of the movie or live action show and just bring his idea on the table and let the other people to take his idea and make it work. Kinda notice that a bit and you can see this in Jin Roh as he didn't director the movie but as screen writer for it.

As for owning the DVD set, I am guessing you're talking about the Mamoru Oshii Cinema Trilogy Collection which contain the two movie and another movie he made (The talking Head). I don't know if $60 (CDN) dollars for this set (or $46 US dollars) is worth it to tell the truth unless you're a fan of his movie. I might just go found an alternative place to watch the movie and just let it end there.

This is my opinion and didn't watch his latest live action movie for now but his decent movie he made is Avalon. It does have the same issue you have with his live action movie but this might be one of his better movie in my opinion and have something interesting topic at that time. Would try to watch that movie if you can find it online.
