What was the final total donated?
Also do we know how much actually ends up going to charity? Does GDQ post the split somewhere or is there potential that a lot of this money goes to administrative costs?
Has anyone produced a list of the best runs to watch? I remember something like this at the last GDQ.

So what were the best runs?
So what were the best runs?
Links Awakening race was fantastic too
So what were the best runs?
Hard to say, not really any run I saw that stood out.
LTTP swordless run is worth a watch.
Freedom Planet was a great watch with great commentary.
Guacamelee
Tetris segment
Super Panga world (SMW similar to Kaizo hacks)
Portal 2 solo coop
I haven't seen nearly all of them, but Nier Automata's was fun, LTTP swordless was great, BotW was fantastic, I enjoyed the gunvolt run, Super Panga World was amazing, Freedom Planet was great, Robobot was great, and of course staples like super metroid and mario 64 were good
I didn't see it, but I heard great things about the stars wars Jedi Knight II run

those expenses are paid via other means. Ad revenue, twitch subs, admission costs, etc.$1.75m
It looks like a past GDQ's had about $150k - $200k in expenses, and the rest of the donation goes to the charity.
My favorite runs, in no particular order.
I remember people in here talking super highly of the couch commenting on one of the runs but I can't remember which one it was?
Freedom Planet. Best couch + runner combo of the event by far.
That Jedi Knight II run was one of the best I've ever seen.
Catching up, in case anyone is looking for good runs to watch of stuff they might not have heard of, here's all the stuff I liked:
Nier Automata (1 handed)
Diddy Kong Racing
Castlevania: SOTN
Guacamelee Gold (this is probably the best technical run of the show so far)
Knytt Stories
ActRaiser
EVO: The Search for Eden
Crash Bandicoot
Mirror's Edge
Astal
Clustertruck (probably the most entertaining run so far -- the developers hack into the speedrunner's game and change it on him)
OmniBus
[I'm only on POI but will be catching up during Banjo 100% snoozefest]
Glitchless Mirror's Edge Speedrunner Roasted by Couch Sitter
I don't really know who is in the right here, but the amount of salt in this video had me laughing my ass off.
The guy on the couch was obnoxious and thought he was a hoot.
... They're friends I believe.
Who was the guy on the couch? I got the impression he was another Mirror's Edge speedrunner that was just kind of bitter that someone else got to do the SGDQ run for ME.
You know they don't just let random people on the couch, the runner chooses who sits there..
Then what is the story behind the infamous "I would really prefer if you'd be quiet" Tomba 2 speedrun? At least in that case, it really seemed like the just let some random jackass sit around and provide commentary.
Those two guys are friends. To the runner he isn't a random person.
I think the runner for Tomba 2 just let anyone sit on the couch. This was obviously a mistake. If they're friends, I'm a little confused as to how the Tomba 2 run went so sour. Was the couch guy's awful commentary a planned "bit", in the same way that the Mirror's Edge runner had planned to have his friend on the couch roast him?
Or is it more just a matter of "I invited my friend to this event and he was being a jackass so I had to shut him down"?
Lol no.
Those two guys are friends. To the runner he isn't a random person.
For the Tomba 2 video, the guy on the couch definitely was not friends with the runner (Tomba 2 guy confirmed it). Occasionally random people will come on the couch, usually during unpopular late night runs, but it's almost always friends or people who run the game.Lol no.
