Earthbound is the best rpg
Isn't Onett canonically pronounced like "on it" but one word, or have I been pronouncing it wrong all my life?
Over 1,700,000$ must be a new record for GDQ. Is it? Couldn't watch a lot of it live (and by the time I was home there was never anything interesting, so I was mostly watching VODs^^)
No. AGDQ this year raised $2.2 million

Ah you're right, it was already over $2 million. Wasn't it because of that crazy donation run during that Bandai Namco raffle^^?
Yes. There's a reason why they show off tons of prizes.
They banned a dansgame emote (dansexy? something like that), I think everything is stemming from that.
Ah yes, thank you, that's it. Apparently it was being used against a transgender runner during the event. Good on GDQ for taking care of that. Fucking hell, Twitch chat... so toxic it could create superheroes just by looking at it.I guess that's this: https://twitchemotes.com/emote/123835
I think they banned wutface too.
Whatever. Last few runs have been great and excited for Earthbound in any case.
I wish they wouldn't do RPG's for final runs. They're so slow-paced in comparison to madness like the Jedi Outcast run. Kills so much of my interest to watch someone speedrun something for hour upon hour.
It's probably easier for it just to be one long stable run so the tech crew and staff can clean up as the event winds down instead of having to juggle a bunch of different setups.
RPG's is something they should run during the nights
The last day should be all about races with 3 or 4 runners to generate excitement

SGDQ 2017 is almost over
It's usually about this same length. Last time was undertale, which was a thunderous success, with a packed house. Thought they'd learn their lesson and do likewise, but I personally like winding down at the end with a classic rpg.
It's still $240,000 short with 20 minutes or less to go, so I'm doubtful.I think we are getting past 2 million again.
Sounds fine to me.Ending around 5am isn't a great idea...
Does anyone else feel really sad at the end of a GDQ?
Does anyone else feel really sad at the end of a GDQ?
Ah, I didn't know that. I'm not trying to perpetuate anything.
Still, you need to buy the bits in the first place, right?
The good news is they happen so frequently. I feel the way I feel at the end of an Olympics. It sucks but you have to wait another four years to see the same people again...at least here you can see everyone again in 6 months!
