Why do you people always make me laugh when I'm drinking! I say, goddamn! XD

Why does everybody want every X1 game on PC? You want to play them?

Because there is this recent trend of Xbone exclusives coming to PC. So it saves me a whole lot of money. Don't need to buy that box.
And of course I want to play them. I'll grab Ryse aswell if it goes on a decent sale. For Sunset Overdrive I even promised SteamGAF to gift them 5 copies.

Bought an XB1 and all of these games coming to PC makes me regret it a little. At least I'll get to play SO this fall, though this game seems least likely to come to PC (save for Forza Horizon 2).

I highly doubt MS signed a deal that doesn't give them options on sequels. They originally signed 2 game deals for Gears and Mass Effect, and MS are intending to own more IPs (Phil Spencer referred to this as "an exception" because he really wanted to work with Insomniac).

Considering MS are obviously bringing funding, marketing etc to the table I suspect they have options on future stuff

There's no doubt the value proposition of the Xbox One's game library visibly decreases with each 'exclusive' that eventually comes to the PC, but I'd still be happy for PC owners to be able to enjoy these games. Cheers.
For the typical console owner it doesn't really. As we can see on GAF, tens of reasons are listed for why users prefer a console apart from exclusives. So you get that + playing the game first so you don't care about year-later version for a platform that is another segment that isn't on your radar for playing games.

From Studio (Bloodborne) and Remedy (Quantum Break) aren't owned by Sony/MS.

Bloodborne does have Sony Japan working on it too though, which is the main issue. I imagine Sony own the IP too.

If the console manufacturers do not own the studio creating the game or the IP, then it's better for us for the game to be multiplatform.

They are bringing funding and marketing to the next Tomb Raider as well. It's really difficult to speculate what the nature of the deal is without insider knowledge. Could go one way or the other.

MS have people working on games too, they just don't give them their own studio name.

Console exclusives are understandable (gotta sell those consoles, ya know), but that does not mean they don't goddamn suck for being exclusives.

Here's hoping.

But then whats the point of owning your IP? I am sure MS has restrictions on the Sony and Nintendo (yeah right) platforms, but not PC.

The point is that under a non-IP ownership model, you get paid to create the game and bonuses. Under an IP-ownership model, you get paid to create the game, bonuses and a cut of the revenue.

I really don't mean to thread whine, but these kind of interviews are always kind of pointless.

I mean, he's obviously not gonna announce a PC version right now.

But he also isn't gonna say that it's definitely not coming.

So we're kind of back in the start and don't know anything new. I guess though that it gives a place to say our opinion. So sure I'd like to see it on PC. I think it looks like a very fresh and exciting game in its genre and I'd probably try it out at some point, but I'm not getting a console for it unfortunately.

I'd be so happy if this made it over. The game looks incredible but it's the only game on xbox one I'm interested in right now.

I could see it happening after sales have tapered off for X1 with MS wanting to get another influx of sales and online community. Cross-platform play would be great.

This is true, and even if he had just flatly denied it, it still wouldn't mean much because that happened with both Ryse and DR3.

The Xbox One sales will dictate if the PC eve see's this. Loving the overall style of the game and the Xbox One certainly needs a few more titles to show off its worth.

Seriously though. Let Xbox One have some exclusives. Us PC folk can wait awhile.

No we can't. We can only wait for Steam sales of Sunset Overdrive after it takes a year to release.

Totally. Well said. There's nothing to read into this comment. Its expected PR speak, no matter if its the truth or not.

If it weren't for the sarcasm, I'd say that you hit the nail on its head.

A lot of people are misunderstanding me.

Do I want these games to come to PC? Fuck yeah. Playing Bloodborne in 60FPS and others would be amazing.

But there has to be a reason these consoles should exist and I think because of how close they are to PCs anyways, exclusive software is the best bet for their relevance to stay intact.

I don't think SO/Insomniac deal is that similar to the one for Tomb Raider.

Insomniac are an independent developer looking to produce a new IP and needed a publisher and funding to do that (for it to release in its current form anyway)

TR developed by Crystal Dynamics is an IP and developer owned by Square Enix who are a publisher themselves and have enough money to make it, presumably MS either offered them a lot of money or they went to MS and gave them a price.

I can't imagine a world where Microsoft offered a deal to Insomniac to help create this new IP and got no rights to possible sequels or anything if its successful, Microsoft aren't stupid.

The TR deal, given the ownership of the studio/IP you'd expect to be multi platform, the same doesn't apply to Insomniac who can (and seemingly will) make deals on a series basis to do whats right at the time for exclusivity or otherwise.

Now, we don't know what the deal is, but as I said, Microsoft aren't stupid, they won't have made a deal that gives them nothing beyond the first game

Why does every Xbox One exclusive have to be ported to PC in the eyes of people here?

Not every exclusive, just the ones Microsoft doesn't own so they really don't decide about that.

Nobody asks about Forza coming to PC because that's not going to happen. Nobody would ask about Halo if there wasn't some old precedents but people know that they should keep their expectations low.
