Sunset Overdrive - Chaos Squad Mode Stream

Dude this game looks so fun hahah. Yeah, having good players and different modes/areas really put the pieces together. That first stream was so boring, there was no game sound, and they kept passing the controller to people that have never played it, keeping the skill level down.

What exactly would be the point of pedestrians in this game, out of curiosity, for those are missing activity in the world outside of swarms and swarms of enemies?

Well this multiplayer certainly doesn't look bland and boring. I could see myself enjoying it for a while, but I've discovered games like this and inFamous just aren't my cup of tea, especially if the singleplayer is based on missions rather than a more linear story.

Well it does make the city feel dead, which due to the outbreak it is. But unlike Dead Rising 3 you can go for ages without encountering anything, or anyone, or even any music, it just feels empty.

Maybe it won't be a big deal but since the Infamous games pre-Second Son were called out for having lifeless cities I don't see why the same complaint can't be leveled against Sunset Overdrive here.

Where are all the posters suspiciously present in the videogamer preview thread? Aren't they interested in Sunset Overdrive?

lol @ "no action on screen".

The game just blew up with so much stuff going on and robots around that I didn't even know what I was looking at!

Yeah, I was scared the multiplayer might be throwaway and get old quickly, but from these streams it looks like something I'll keep coming back to, especially if I have a good group of people to play with.

It looks like you'll have to pay attention to how much chaos you're building up in missions and choose which to do accordingly because if you get really high chaos night defense seems pretty impossible.

Anyone know if there are more difficult enemies to fight in the multiplayer? Would be cool to get more tactical and use some teamwork.

Keep in mind a lot of media may not have played beyond the ~2 hours they were initially allowed to preview which means they may not have air dash or great weapons, amps, etc... Definitely a game-changer.

I was lucky enough to get a chance to help fill the lobbies for the play session earlier this morning. I've played extensive single player but first time in chaos and it was really fun. Lots of mini-games and events that build towards one final defense mission that gets harder/more chaotic depending how your team does in the lead-up games.

...And since I know jstevenson is lurking here... I'll just take a minute to gloat that for the full round I was able to play start to finish, I took top honors overall. :) GG (I joined in progress for that first round :)

This IG stream is fantastic, seriously can't wait for the 28th.

The flying OD/herkers/spawners seem pretty tough. And in previous streams I've seen that certain weapon combos do more damage (for example the dirty harry pistol does more damage to enemies on fire) so you can get some teamwork going there too.

There are tougher/different enemies that come into play as you progress in the campaign. In Chaos mode - depending which "mini games" you pick and how you do will determine how hard the final defense battle is. We were almost at max chaos going into it and got pretty much annihilated - granted there wasn't much talk/coordination going on.

Amazing how seeing someone play with some minimal skill and variety changes everything.

Well, that's the peril of watching others play something meant to be, ya know, played. Anyone can make even the most exciting games look terrible if they aren't good at it or interested in trying...something that came across to me in that negative Videogamer.com preview with the two jaded and bored Brits lashing it for being boring, with only, perhaps, the only real solid criticism in all of the video being that the tutorial goes on past two hours of play or so. Their play style, on the video, anyway, was terribly boring as playthroughs of that section look compared to other captures I've caught glimpse of.

Wow at the frame-rate. You'd figure with all those enemies and particles flying everywhere the frame-rate would take a dive. But it looks smooth from what I can see.

There is just so much going on at one time! It's insane!
