That porn thread makes a few valid points but draws some ridiculous conclusions.

Biggest issue with porn imo is the fact that it gives unrealistic expectations of what sex even is or should be (or even how biology works in some cases).

Not to mention 90% of the women are completely hairless. Hell at least half the men are too.

Not gonna lie, happened to me when i was younger. And you're right, there are valid points, but all porn leads to taboo and illegal shit? Really? Come the hell on.

Strength of the Sword kickstarter has gone up some 800 bucks in last 40 minutes, which is roughly 10 times faster growth than on average

It's interesting to see how youtube videos affect numbers

I would hope not since you shouldn't assume students are dedicating all their time to your class. I'm probably complaining more than I should because I'm lazy but like 60+pages this week plus more reading in another book for this class, then reading two chapters in a cultural anthropology book for another class, and probably more reading else where kind of bugs me

Yeah exactly, the unrealistic thing bothers me a lot not even just strictly because of porn but because of stuff made to cater to audiences specifically in a sexual way, it gives people really goddamn weird views of women and how to talk to them, also it doesn't help the fact most people can't seem to really control themselves as it is, influencing their decisions and tastes and perspectives in weird ways.

Unfortunately I think it happens to a lot of people.

And I know, in fact the exact opposite could be argued. Sexual repression leads to deviance more often than not, porn is a (potentially) healthy form of sexual expression and release that shouldn't be shamed.

Ofc there are always boundaries and too much of anything is bad, but that's where personal responsibility comes into play.

This also goes into the issue of not having proper sex ed and so many parents refusing to have realistic conversations with their kids about sex, so where do pubescent kids end up learning about it? Church, where they shove abstinence down your throat? Porn? TV? It all sets bad and unrealistic examples.

I wholeheartedly agree. But it's another one of those things where a middle ground needs to be found, since repressing all of that kind of thing is just as bad as unashamedly showing them/telling them everything which will also mess young people up.
You know how people are, they jump from one extreme to the other.
