The explanation for that is it was during that really rough patch of DS2.

It really hurts with playing with randos, since communication is fucking hard to collab on when to use Wystones. The worst is when it wears off as you start your attack, but they do show the meter counting down, and some last longer than others, so you can decide to choose the Wystone that lasts the longest. Knocking a monster out of Apex feels good though.

I guess it's an ok endgame, but bouncing off is really harsh to the point of really really hurting the flow of battle.

Yeah, I get what they're trying to do, but I just think they need to rework the details. At least it's not on a timer :x

But this is exactly the kind of thing they want. They want it to be frustrating and almost broken mechanically. Its designed specifically that way to make sure you don't beat it too soon. Even if it turns you away from the game, but Monster Hunter is already so addicting to people that most probably won't drop it.

I'm seeing BB gameplay, it looks like a god damn character action game.

It has a much faster pace to it. The new mechanics they add really add a lot more incentive to play the game way faster instead of just circling around enemies with your shield up. I'm not too far in, but what it feels like a natural progression of a sequel where the game feels the same, but is way different.
