As far as your actual answer, lol. I'm not too well versed in Shmups, so maybe I should try something less intense.

The music is good for it and there is a ton of fan stuff. As for the games, it's ok. If you like micro managing between tiny gaps between bullets.

You can change the difficulty to make it piss easy. Usually it's played on the highest difficulty for videos.

People recommended I start with either 11 for being awesome and really refined from a gameplay standpoint or 6 from a music/character/simplicity standpoint. I say go with 6.
