In the Zabuza storyline, Sasuke should have died at the battle on the bridge.It would have given weight to the dangers of being ninja. Sakura would have been more resentful of Naruto since Sasuke had sacrificed himself to save Naruto. Kakashi meanwhile has to deal with the fact that another Uchiha has died under his command. When they return back to the village, they eventually work out their differences to be a team again. Naruto would vow not to let Sasuke's sacrifice be in vain.
Just some thoughts on how I would have done it.
