Super Mario 3D World - Introduction video

Looks awesome.

So that red turtle shell power-up is single player only? Id imagine it to be too easy to skip ahead of the others if you manage to grab one first. I could be wrong. Itd show that there different experiences only possible in singleplayer, making the game feel like it doesnt revolve around multiplayer.

Also, that level with marios sliding down, i wonder if that has to do with any space levels related to the galaxy hub.

I was honestly holding out on buying a Wii U when Smash comes out, but I'd be lying if this game wasn't tempting me enough. This video was incredible. There's so many new ideas and the level design looks top fucking notch, not to mention it looks very detailed and clean.

It's like all the Mario games in one Mario game. I feel like a terrible human being for initially criticizing it when it was first announced. Looks phenomenal and I can't wait for it.

I was already planning on getting this but that video made it even more awesome. GOTY right there for the Wii-U, maybe not all-around though (GTAV).

Has anyone tried counting all of the stamps? Looks like there are 85 to me, which could mean 85 levels, since it appears there's 1 per level. For some of the silhouettes it's a bit hard to tell whether there are one or two stamps there, so +/- 5 or so.

Some of the levels late in the video look like lots of fun. Every time I watch videos of this game, I'm torn between my excitement at the level design and my disgust at the 3D Land controls/physics.

Game explain did in the last video this time you can see more, I cant wait for the next game explain video breaking everything down.

The video was really good. This is the game I am looking forward to the most this year. It just looks like so much fun. Cannot wait to play it. Thank You Nintendo.

Buy this with a Wii U everyone. Do it. I'm going to jump in next month! This and Wonderful 101 are what videogames are supposed to be. Variety and crazy shit happening on the screen!

I'm sorry, I missed which team made this game. Cuz they trumped every single developer in the last 5 years. Looks outstanding. Not sure how they got me interested in a non-galaxy game but god damn.

And yes, I know who made this.

Edit:Calling it, Wii u has the third best line up by this Christmas.

Easily. I may be getting a PS4 at launch, but most of my time in terms of consoles will be spent with the Wii U for at least the next year.

Nope!

See? Red for Mario, Pink for Peach, probably Green for Luigi and Blue for Toad.

That doesn't show anything about whether it's single-player only or not. You can play as any of the four in single-player, and that screen is of the single-player campaign.

Well, we've still yet to see multiple shells sliding around at the same time. If anything, that picture makes the case more that its single player only.

Ive rewatched the introduction video, and that shell does go really fast. Itd be quite the troll tool if it can be used in multiplayer.

Yeah, my bad.
Still, I don't think they would need change the color of the shell if it wasn't to know where the character is in multiplayer.

Wait, did it get moved up? I had no idea...

Yeah original release was in December with DK taking Novembers spot. Then DK and Mario got switched with DK eventually losing the December date and being delayed.

Also I find it strange. So far alot of next-gen footage of games I've seen coming out my first initial reaction is "Wow these games look so pretty" but this is probably the first game that makes me go "Wow this is just pure fun"

Game looks magical. So much variation it's like all the Mario games combined into one amazing sandwich of a game. Not only does it look good graphically but it looks like so much fun. Co-op is gonna be a fantastic time I can just feel it.

I get what you're saying, but Mario games tend to excel at little details like that. See: Peach flame costume transformation .

Its just to keep character in tact. Just as all the cat suits are their own color, regardless if its single player or not.

God damn, that looks good. Seems to have a lot of wacky level ideas, really liked the look of that slide thing near the end.

Seems like they are really trying to make the ultimate Mario with a mix of so many different styles and powerups. Hope people will never mention when the real mario is coming.

Yeah, I may be wrong.
But I don't think Nintendo would make a power up only for single player, even "Giant Mario" is in multiplayer!

I'm only worried about one little thing in this game (and I think game journalists won't even notice because, well, it's pretty obvious that they don't play these games in multiplayer): what if 2 players wants to use the same character? How can you make a competitive game when characters have so different abilities and you can't choose freely? It's like Street Fighter II Vanilla over again!

My family and I are travelling for Christmas this year and now are battling with the thoughts of which console we are bringing with us. On one hand, I want to show off the PS4 with the family but with titles like Super Mario 3D World and Nintendoland (yes, I still love Nintendoland), I know we will have a great time playing the Wii U for hours. Either way, SM3DL is going to get a TON of play for months after its release.

I always knew that Nintendo was going to bring the funk, that's why I always shook my head at the haters (consumers and Publishers alike) of the Wii U during the first year of it's time. I always loved by Wii U, even though I knew it had it shortcomings (for a while it was my Nintendoland/Xenoblade Chronicles machine). Nintendo has been doing this with their last several systems (release the system, take about a year before releasing the great developed games for it) and I rather they release these titles when they are ready instead of rushing so they can silence the naysayers. I can still remember those who talked crap about the Wii (some of those comments being warranted), DS and even the 3DS. All those systems eventually became huge successes. I think the Wii U will pick up a lot and will do well among those who
  • Do not care about having the latest and greatest
  • Already own another console
  • Nintendo franchise fan (which a lot of them already have bought the Wii U already)

Nintendo is a very smart company and I can't wait to see how the future of the Wii U unravels.
