Uploaded my first level. I like the concept of two paths, so you can go up or down. Down is deliberately hard, up I feel is more balanced except for one trick that might you get a couple times. I think spinning fire is very fair up top if you are patient.

You can fall off from up top and continue on down as well.

All these comments going 'very few have completed my level yet, I'll make it easier' are an eye opener on Nintendo making things (initially) quite easy in their latest Mario games.
 
Is it possible to put a single coin in a brick block? Also, can you input the 4 number codes from the booklet anywhere in the game? Can't find it.

No, just put down a ? block without putting anything in it.
You enter the code in the digital manual (and meet Mashiko there).

What I've wanted to do for the longest time since this game was announced is make a level based on the "microwave hallway" from Metal Gear Solid 4. Just mash a button over and over in desperation to win.

Here's my preliminary version of that concept that I put together last night:

Now that I've unlocked stuff like autoscrolling I could definitely improve on it, but I'm happy I was finally able to make this. Almost like a sweet release.

Anyway to change the direction something walks? Like I wanted koopas to spawn from a pipe but point them in a specific direction.

I tried making a stage based around using bob-ombs to destroy blocks, I think it turned out pretty well!

Also there's a custom Bowser fight. I wish there was a way to give giant Bowser less health, because right now the boss takes a long time to beat.
 
My first SMW stage, "Hit the Sky or Pound the Ground?" I designed it to be a medium challenge level where you can either use the cape skillfully or exploit enemy jumps as regular Mario if needed to reach the end. There are two routes and I set it up so that you will still have to face a few key enemies even if you bypass the upper route:

I'm sticking to making simple filler levels for now, nothing demanding or novel, just Mario-y stuff. The starter palette just makes anything I do feel samey. Also I guess it's needed to counterbalance the gimmicky BS that permeates the level selection right now.

I stood in front of the shelf for quite a while before deciding to get the game without the amiibo. No discount to the bundle and I didn't like the figurine. Was tempted to pick up a Sonic amiibo instead for the morph mushroom.

Yeah we really do need more actual levels in circulation, so keep it up!


I don't think I'm gonna make an actual doomship / doom battalion or castle stage until I get that boss music unlocked. Just makes things feel anti-climatic without it.

I tried ducking for 10 seconds on the white blocks in the Mario 3 1-1 Remix level, and instead of falling through mario does a mini jump/fart thing. Pretty funny

Is there anything in the game to incentivize exploration like Star Coins?

I am at day 4 unlocks but nothing of that kind yet. Its more of a playbox mario then a real mario game. Only way you can give rewards is a hidden coin area or some nice power ups for example.

So I just opened this up messed around for a bit, it doesn't come with a stylus?? My fingers are too fat for manipulating the touch screen dammit. Did one come with the Wii U? ..maybe it's in my box still.
