Is the cheapest PS4 PCB I can get for a stick build going to be either a Brook PS4 fightboard or getting a Hori FC4 and soldering it up?
Was wondering if there was an option that is cheaper than $40, I have some spare parts & a case lying around and I want to make a stick that I can lug around with me as I travel around. I'm totally okay with soldering.

I would just use one of those cheapo PS3 zero delay PCBs if I was 100% sure it would work on most fighting games on the PS4.
Going to be playing the following games for now, prob MvCi and DBZf in the future:
XRD Rev2
BBCF
KoF 14
UNIEL[st]
SFV

Thank you sir!

Not at all, it work just fine on my lap or playing on desk.
The plastic tool box surprisingly quite sturdy for its price, roughly 6.5 US $.

are those door hinges holding it to a plastic cutting board? amazing! I love seeing stuff like this, can we get a look inside?

A Razer Panthera popped up on Amazon warehouse deals this morning for $159. It said "good condition. May have markings from previous owner." Just came and it's so mint that it still smells new :)

Edit: works fine on Windows. Overall it's nice. Pretty much the same as the Atrox, but it's blue. And this time if you don't like the color you're SOL... lol

Question: should I remove the strut? Seems like it would constantly be splitting pressure to the case...

Gonna have to hunt. The MLG pad also has that same cord if those pop up.
The one I linked from Jdizzle Sales or whatever, that's the same cord I could use for the TE2 though right?
jasens customs make the same sort of cord so you can ask him, but its also gonna be $20+. You could just make your own
Looking at them as well, is this what I'd need? http://www.jasenscustoms.com/Pro-Cable-Kit-with-Blue-TechFlex-USB-Cable_p_203.html

cheapest encoder to control a ps4? tempted to make a stick for my ps4 if its not too expensive.

Been mentioned but the absolute cheapest, bar finding a broken stick and gutting it for its PCB, is the Brook PS3/PS4 PCBA. It requires soldering, but for a bit more your retailer of choice will generally have a version with connectors pre-soldered.

If you want more versatility there's the Brook UFB, which has screw terminals by default and supports far more consoles in a single board.

Cool, thanks for the useful information!

Hey guys, my current fightstick has stopped working properly, it's limited to the joystick, but I'm considering buying a new fightstick rather than bothering with trying to fix the old one.

But with Madcatz not being around any longer, I'm wondering if the only real choices now would be Qanba and Hori?

The Razer stick seems to be pretty popular too.

I'm actually in the market for a new stick too, and I keep bouncing between the Obsidian, Pantera, or getting a Brook board to mod my TE2+ shell. Leaning towards the Brook now, even though it'd only save me around $30 when I include the new joystick/buttons.

Ah thanks, had forgotten that razer also make a fightstick.

Actually went a ordered it. Both Hori and Qanba seem like they don't have much of a presence in Europe, even on Amazon and Ebay there's not a lot of them, and I could only find one ps4 compatible one, which didn't use Sanwa parts.

I've been using the Razer stick since I got it when it came out. Forget when that was...but it's been awhile. It's a great, solid stick. TE2, in retrospect, is one of my least favorite sticks on the market just because it doesn't feel that way. The sacrifice for being able to mod your art "easily" isn't worth the mushy feel on the top panel.

Hm, solid feel and build quality are huge for me.

How securely does the wire connect to the body of the stick itself? One of my least favorite things on the TE2 was that the stock wire was so poorly designed that it couldn't securely connect to the stick and would disconnect.

It's a solid connection. My two gripes about the stick are that there's nothing hanging over the connection to prevent it from being snapped, so if you drop the stick, or somebody steps on it...ggs.

And it's really hard to change the art. I've seen people who have done it, but I think it's really hard...the art is glued in from my understanding, and taking it out seems like a pain in the ass.

How long did it take you to get the hang of it?

i honestly don't remember, but i can tell you i didn't struggle for a month or anything.i would've given up at that point lol

Also, try getting used to the square gate as-is before jumping on the octagonal gate bandwagon. So many people do it without giving the square gate a chance.

Replacing the lever is literally a matter of undoing a couple bolts and unscrewing the balltop. It's super easy and if that's the only thing wrong with your stick then buying a whole new one to replace it is just throwing money away.

It didn't take me very long to adjust, I'd say a couple of days of grinding at most but it's been years. More than anything else, experiment with different grip styles for the balltop to see what's most comfortable for you. I use the style Daigo uses where I hold the lever between my pinkie and ring finger and then just kind of wrap the rest of my fingers around the balltop. Find it to be the easiest execution-wise for all the games I play and works well with stuff like instant air-dashes in anime fighters or wavedashing in Tekken.
