I cannot for the life of me find the dongle you're talking about. My buddy has been raving about this stick, and I'm interested in looking at all the options for it, so I was interested in this comment.

There was a firmware update to improve the lag separate from the X-input driver.

You'll want to do both.
 
Was wondering, has anyone here tested the new Sanwa silent levers? they are supposed to feel less mushy, more responsive. Curious about any feedback...
 
Are there guides out there for installing an IL Eurojoystick? It's really hard to find the necessary info. Especially if you want to install them in something other than an arcade cabinet.
 
Can y'all recommend what upgrades to sanwa parts I can do on my mayflash f300? I'm in canada so parts are a little hard to find. Specifically looking for a classic joystick, not the ball top.

You can put a bat top on a jlf which are widely available. I don't think you'll get a classic Joystick to fit if you are referring to the Happ/IL stick from North American arcades. Those are meant for thicker wood panels.

Also I have the f300 and the buttons are kind of bad. Anything is an upgrade from those (sanwa, seimitsu, etc).

Edit: you'll need a 5-pin harness with a connector on each end to easily swap the stock joystick for a jlf.

Any 30mm snap in Sanwa button will be fine and easy to install. If you want to replace the joystick, I know the Sanwa JLF fits and that's kind of "the standard" on that front. If you want a bat top over a ball top, just by a bat top handle that fits a standard JLF. The tops of joystick shafts are just threaded so you can screw whatever you want onto them.

Replacing the joystick can be a bit of a pain since the Mayflash doesn't use a standard 5 pin harness. You'll need a 5 pin harness with headers on both ends it looks like from the images I Saw of this thing.

Thanks! Yeah the two header female 5 pin wire is a bit difficult to locate. Do you have a go-to store for these or is amazon sellers the way to go? Looked at a couple canadian stores too (though out of stock on the 5 pin and octagonal gates, argh)
 
I usually go though FocusAttack, but I'm not sure about their shipping rates to Canada. They do have just about everything I've ever needed.
 
Any thoughts on the Qanba Obsidian vs. the Razer Pantera?

Also, does anyone know if the Obsidian's PC switch makes it a real X-Input device? The Qanba Crystal's PC functionality was pretty shoddy and kinda made me question Qanba and their marketing, so I'm wondering if Obsidian is more legit with its claims.

1-2 month wait on Amazon for the obsidian versus a few days for the panthera. Brushed aluminum and LED lighting verses easy open feature and firmware updates. I'm not sure if you can change artwork on the obsidian.

Other than that, I think they both provide x-input.

Obsidian has a headphone jack too right? That's the main thing that has me hesitating on the Razer, aside from the X-input worries.
 
FWIW, I did about a week's worth of research on what I wanted my first fight stick to be, and ultimately landed on the Panthera.

Lots of Gamestop stores have it in stock, and it's $20 off if you're a PUR member. $197 out the door, after tax, at the Gamestop six miles from me. Sure beat having to wait 1-2 months for pretty much everything else on the market that is comparable.

First impressions are very positive. Buttons feel great. Stick feels really good and has nice tactility. Build quality is decent - not OMG amazing, but it's solid and doesn't jiggle. Great anti-slip bottom. Easy access. Only thing I'm "?" on is the "height" of the actual 8-way stick. I play with the ball between my middle finger and ring finger, and for my big hands, it's a little cramped. But for all I know, I'd wager all sticks have the same height, and so I'll just have to get used to it.

I will say the "size" of the whole things is juuuuuust right. Big enough to be solid and feel substantial. Room for everything. But still can fit in a backpack.

Ugly as ever-living-fuck blue snake logo is the worst thing, ever, though, lol

Advice request...first fightstick...playing GG on PS4, later SF4 and hopefully if theres an anniversary collection then SF3.

Budget matters, but would prefer to invest in quality and not have to tinker too much tho I know buttons will eventually have to be replaced :

Would you pick, based on the total amount shipped to Canada:

-Venom licensed stick ($145 from UK)
-HRAP 4 Kai ($220 from a big box store in Canada)
-Mayflash F300 + Sanwa parts ($160 mix of Canada and US)

So confused...

I'm not a competitive gamer at tourneys, but I am very good at fighting games and actually hold my own online (win around 50-66% of the time), so it's nice to finally have an online game and community I'm good at (im a disaster at CoD and battlefield lol). Feel like i've reached my ceiling with PS4 controller, and would like to learn how to use a stick.

Hoping some of the regulars in this thread have some advice, and thanks for the advice yesterday (Anne and others).
 
If you want a no hassle first stick that has some quality, Hori is a decent bet if you can spring on it. The Hori parts are pretty good now even if I'm not a fan of the stock Hayabusa. If you don't like the Hori parts later on down the line, you can replace them very easily with most JP parts (case restrictions sometimes pop up with clearance on screws). Hell, there are some very easy mods you can do to the Hayabusa joystick itself for a few bucks if you have a screwdriver somewhere.

The other 2 sticks you're looking at tend to be "project" sticks. I generally don't tell people new to this stuff to start with something like that, but I can understand ending up on that route due to budget. That's the route where you'll be doing a good amount of tinkering though.
 
Yeah a 2lb spring for the Hayabusa lever is an easy mod and makes a big difference imo. It isn't necessary though, so you would be fine with the base Hori.

That's a good point. It seems weird putting "luxury" parts into something that's like a base/entry model, though also pretty cool at the same time, but yeah you're right it's fine I suppose if someone's on a really tight budget.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong on my ps360+ sticks.

The razer doesn't work. This might answer one of the questions you had about it. It's xinput, but doesn't work with KI.
 
got a few sticks laying around the house but this one is probably my new favorite (maybe second to the custom egrett 3 cp).

One of my hori fighting edge's buttons is finally starting to give up after two years. Want to get the qanba obsidian but since it's hard to obtain in europe I was thinking about the hori rap 4 instead. What would you guys recommend?

Pretty sure replacing the buttons on my old FEdge was butt-easy, but I did make sure to shave the sides of the buttons a teeny bit just to make sure too much pressure didn't push out and crack the Plexiglas.

The latter has very few reviews of the 2017 model, with a chunk of people complaining about disconnects.

Where are they selling the HRAP V? It's virtually the same innards as the Tekken stick, and people are very happy with that one.
