Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

Anyone have both the TE2+ (not regular TE2 since the plus got build quality improvements) and the Razer Pantera? Im realizing that fully modding my TE2+ with new parts/pcb would only be slightly cheaper than the Pantera (which seems identical feature wise) so I'm wondering which has the better build.

I've owned te2, te2+, Atrox, and now have a Panthera. The Panthera top panel design feels a little more solid to me than the te2. I also like the cleaner top panel design. No changing art though :(

Other than that, it might just come to aesthetic preference.

Correct. Only 6 of the 8 buttons will be recognized. An Xbox 360 stick (like the 360 Atrox) will have no problems.

I had no idea about this, that's surprising.

I assumed Win10 had built-in, full support for wired X1 pads and would have it emulate a 360 pad for any game that natively supports 360 pads. Does it not? Or is this specific to Razer sticks?

Good question. I'm actually not sure. My Xbox one controller is fully functional on Windows 10. It's only the Xbox one Atrox that I had issues with.

I think it's because the triggers are digital on a X1 stick and the X1 controller drivers don't support that.

I can't believe this is still a thing. The KI TE2 dropped in 2013 and people have been having this issue since. I figured they would have at the very least addressed it for the KI pc launch.

Just ordered a Hori RAP Kai. Supposedly the current version supports PC via XInput in addition to PS4 but the Amazon image shows just a PS3/4 selector switch and not the 3-way.

I'm guessing this is just an old image. It does mention Haybusa buttons so I'm guessing this is the newer version?

Did you purchase it new or was this used from Amazon warehouse? Last time I purchased one or showed the old image, but I did receive a new version.

If it's like other Hori sticks, just plug it into your PC on either setting

There's two GameStops within comfortable driving distance of me that have Pantheras in stock. It was originally my preferred stick to try and buy going into the T7 release, but I ended up preordering and picking up the T7 Hori stick for PS4 instead due to the ability to preorder for pickup alongside my copy of Tekken 7 (Panthera wasn't available for in-store preorder yet). The T7 Hori is a nice stick, and I like it, but I'm still really tempted to get a Panthera since they're available locally and sell my T7 off...

Why would you? Do you dislike anything about the T7 Hori?

Nah... I've seen the Panthera in stock via the website store locator for upwards of a week now and I keep, THANKFULLY, rationalizing myself out of the purchase because I really cannot at all convincingly express any dissatisfaction with the T7 stick. :p

It's sort of a collectors impulse more than anything right now, same kind of impulse that got me purchasing a Madcatz Tournament Edition S stick back in the day when I had a perfectly fine Tournament Edition already -- I saw it on the shelf and was like "that is one cool piece of kit" and bought it despite not having any issues with my existing stick. In fairness, I did use both sticks pretty often back then, but I never needed to. And personally owning two sticks and being able to share one with a friend for multiplayer only ever came in handy once.

Well, if the Panthera is more to your taste...

Me, I'm still waiting for the T7 to arrive in my country (end of the month, they're saying) and the Panthera is readily available here. I want that beautiful Tekken goodness!

That's how it starts...

Like what?

Vewlix sticks are godlike.
What's godlike about the (Hori) Vewlix?

Legit curious because the shape looks awkward to have on your lap and it just looks like an even longer Rap 4 Kai. Same components too right?

I know they're modeled after arcade layouts but I don't see the advantage for home use

The build quality, the weight, the feel. I think it's more of a desk or table stick, but it can be used in a lap. I'm a big guy, so it's less of a problem for me. If you have a desk to set it on, it legit feels like a portion of an arcade cab in front of you. The thing is near impossible to move while playing. The RAP4 is my least favorite Hori stick. It's too light and too small.

Newest VLX uses Hori parts, but the top panel lifts up and there's enough room to fit any kind of stick you like except, I think, HAPP parts.

Cool, thanks

There was a VLX for nearly half price on one of the EU Amazons a month or so ago, should have jumped on it then

You referring to the cab or the stick? cuz if it's the stick then...ehh I dunno, hori's design choices for that thing disturbs me

The stick. If I was really made of money Id straight up buy a custom Vewlix cab and put a computer in there so it would be the main thing I play FG's on when at home lol

It's straight up a cutout of the Vewlix arcade cab. I remember at first that I thought the same thing, but that was mostly because of the angle Id see pictures, (top down flat) It actually looks pretty different. And Id assume feels at least as heavy/sturdy as a Hori Fighting Edge.

Same components ofc, but with that easily openable case it would replace my Fighting Edge as the main stick I mod.

BAM! found on SRK forum

Nice, though Im a bigger fan of the design of the latest release

Jelly as hell.

I dunno if id get the two player variant or just the one player.

Where'd you get that from?

Don't own it yet. Friend of mine knew some arcade operator out in California. Sold it to him, now he's going to sell it to me when I can save up enough.

Probably be sometime next year.

I never miss an opportunity to post my own 3S cab, but im running an actual CPS in there. Ive tried playing 3S on a LCD monitor, it seems to lose something. Just my opinion though.

Shadaloo.eu is the only site I know that sells custom Vewlix's.....And they go for minimum 1.6k euro for the shittier models. I dont even wanna know what that is converted to Canadian.

Funny enough I actually own the vlx hayabusa for ps4. I didn't care for the look of it as I thought the previous one looked better lol

I missed out on the last gen one. I'm not willing to pay a premium for it now. I'll just buy a brooks converter or something for it

Vewlix sticks are godlike.

The stick placement feels way to close to the buttons. Made sense on an actual Viewlix due to space limitations, but not here. Said buttons/stick are Hori instead of industry standard Sanwa's (like the real Viewlix). Is also one of the worst sticks when it comes to button delay at 15+ ms (20ms in ps3 mode).

...and don't get me started on Hori's signature plastic door that always falls off 😉🔫

I personally recommend the Dragon over the VLX. Sold mine after a week with the Qanba, never regretted it. Here's a pretty good video comparison:

It's definitely worth it :v

I still get ptsd when I think back to my gf making me sell all my candy cabs. Only have an Atomiswave motherboard left and games I can no longer play lol

VLX layout is standard, lol. It's used on tons of stucks. I bet the dragon uses VLX layout. (just checked and yep). I agree they're close, and that's one of the reasons noir is da bes.

Hori buttons and sticks are just as good (if not better) than sanwa. That's just preference.

Plastic door is garbage for sure, though.

I'm working on just that:

Willing to throw out a rough ballpark on that? Are we talking $2-3K, or are we looking at a $5k+ purchase? I imagine shipping alone is upwards of a grand...

Anyway, the VLX is damn sexy and I say that as an ignorant fool who can't play fighting games and is just observing from the outside.

We're haggling. Probably be 2-3k. Dude is local, so I don't have to worry about shipping.
