Anyone here who has ordered from arcadeshock not gotten shipping confirmation? I'm getting kind of worried as it releases Friday and I haven't gotten any emails regarding processing.
Anyone here have any experience with the foehammer cases? Thinking about buying an S2 and installing it myself. How does the case feel? Hollow? Sturdy? Anything to compare it to? I have a left over madcatz SE stick that I modded so I can take the jlf and the buttons out and save a bit of money.
I have tons of foehammers. They're super sturdy. Don't feel hollow at all.
They suck at communication, though, so be prepared to have some patience.
OK thanks for the info. If you have one are you using a ps360+ or something similar. If so how do you mount the PCB?
I'm looking for one of the custom cases and they seem to be coming up a lot.
Awesome.
It would be nice if they double-boxed it like AS to preserve the packaging tho :/
I think they are for customers ordering 2. My shipping email shows 1 package and another user over at SRK confirmed they're putting his 2 in one box. I'll update when I get mine Friday.
That's a friend of mine.
He's getting two on Friday and going to give me one to swap out whenever I get my order from Arcadeshock. #hype
Also get my cab friday!
What a wonderful week.![]()
I expect plenty of pictures![]()
do VLXs come with Sanwa? I see ppl all wanting to swap out parts...why?
Hori Arcade One? Going from pad to stick can be a difficult process for a while until you get the hang of it. If you are having trouble on a dpad doing quarter circles now I believe youll have an even harder time learning stick. If you see yourself playing more and more fighting games a stick is a good investment in the long term. I'd see if you know anyone that has one and try it out for a bit before making a purchase as good sticks are usually $125+
Also the X1 is probably going to be pretty starved for fighters besides KI,MKX, and Tekken7 so I am not sure if investing in a stick is a good idea until more games are announced or if you really think you'd use it consistently.
Arcade sticks are accurate...but that's not the issue. Different people have different preferences.
My recommendation is that you stop by an arcade (if possible) or borrow a stick from a friend to give it a try before you take the plunge on a good stick. If neither of those is possible you can try to get a less expensive or used stick, just to see if you like it.
Honestly, for MKX in particular, I find a controller to be slightly easier to use than a stick (and I'm pretty casual myself). You mentioned quarter circle motions giving you issues though, but MK doesn't actually require any QC motions unless you enable it yourself in the control options. If you insist on using QC motions though and you really can't do it on a pad, then yes, I think a stick would actually give you a bit more precision with fluid motions like that.
People are mixed on the Hayabusa lever, but Kuro buttons are universally trashed.
I thought people were pretty receptive of them over on SRK but I haven't looked closely. What's wrong with them?
If I decide to not keep my second PS4 VLX, would anyone here want it?
Interested to replace the stick and maybe buttons...is there any particular size I need to go for or is it just preference? BTW Sanwa or Semistu (or how you spell it)
Hayabusa = awesome
Kuros = rage inducing.
The only way I'm touching Kuros is when I take them out of my stick.
So far I've just been selling PC parts off to balance the budget which got out of hand this month. And who needs a PC when you have two VLXs lol. Then later I have an excuse to rebuild a PC monster.I'd be interested if I had money at the time of you selling it. o:

I... like the kuros.
Me too man, me too. I think some people are just really picky with their buttons, which is fine, but they might go too far and confuse "I don't like x" with "x is bad". Or maybe there's just a lot of variance between buttons. I know the squeaking definitely exists on mine (but it's not really noticeable when playing), but I've never noticed any of the sticking that some people talk about.
Well, you are in a thread with people spending hundreds of dollars on these luxury items. People are going to be picky.![]()

I got the Gamerfingers because some people on this thread swore by them and they quickly became my favorite.

Oh, you're totally right. People aren't wrong to be picky about these things, for sure. I just think that *some* of the complaints surrounding the Kuro's are kinda overblown, and the negativity might deter some people from buying the newer Hori sticks when they might actually not even notice the difference between buttons.
The buttons are 30mm, so for snap-ins: Sanwa OBSF-30, Seimitsu PS14 K, GamerFinger HBFS-30-G2.
For a lever, most anything should be compatible: Hori Hayabusa, Sanwa JLF/JLW, Seimitsu LS-32/40/56.
It's all up to preference. The Hayabusa and JLF are quite similar, so if you have either of those and want something different, you might want to look into the Seimitsu levers. Unlike the directly actuated microswitches on the JLF and the Hayabusa, Seimitsu uses levered microswitches for a shorter throw and a stiffer feel. Personally, I love the LS-32, but as I said, it's all down to preference.
I really want GamerFinger buttons for my VLX but I just can't work with the octagon. If it were any stick but the VLX, I'd probably be okay with the GamerFinger design. This is the peak of first world problems, I know.
For gamerfinger, am I buy the cap, or the mechanical pushbutton?
I have ps360s in most of them. I have somebody else do the wiring. I don't know anything about the technical stuff. I can take pictures if you like.
After seeing close up pics of the VLX im happy i didn't buy.
No brushed metal no buy.
On a premium stick i would think it would be a different mould than the same materials being used on the HRAP
Yeah that would be awesome. Also do you have your stick modded for ps4?
I'm picking up my VLXs on Friday. It'll be a good way to cheer me up.

I... like the kuros.
Me too. When you've spent your formative years using whatever the arcade had, whether it's half-missing because of a cigarette burn, or a Track and Field with raised hemi-guards (to stop rubbing with an egg from a novelty to) or jams now and again if you push too close to one side, you can get used to anything. I've said this before regarding sticks, but I honestly think some of you guys are far too fussy with your controls.
You ought to try playing using those buttons on Missile Command, then you might appreciate Kuros a little more![]()
