Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

Question for those who bought the TES+. I practically used the original TE religiously for 360 and PS3 because it was so damned comfortable. For those who used the original TE a ton, does the TES+ feel like an exact replica right down to where you would rest your wrists if you were to do such a thing?

I hate how expensive it is getting parts in the UK.

There is very limited choice compared to US, if you just want one cheap item the shipping from US makes it not worth it, but buying in bulk to lessen shipping burden means you get hit with import taxes and likely a customs handling fee from whatever delivery company is used.

Anyone know anywhere else besides http://www.arcadeworlduk.com/ ?

I used the TE1 almost exclusively since its launch. Thousands of hours of play online and at tournaments etc. I got a TE2 last summer and it just never felt as good to me.

Yesterday I got the S+ and I'm so relieved that it's matches the standard set by the original. I put some pics in the Mad Catz thread regarding comparisons to the TE1 and you can see it's identical in form with the exception of the side panels.

anyone try putting a tighter spring in a LS-32? i just want a bit more tension, than the stock ls-32 feel. the LS-56 feels exactly this, but diagonals get triggered way to easy with the ls-56 im currently using. also anyone have any luck with the c ring clip thingy with the ls-32, im trying to remove mine but its a bitch compared to removing the e-clip on a JLF.

In case anyone wants to take a SFIV TE Stick (Xbox 360) off my hands, it's up for pick up in London, just ping me a PM. I'm getting a PS4 TE stick so I don't have use for it anymore, but it's in good shape and can be converted or used for parts.

Looks so good; is it just the angle or are the buttons lowered a bit on the TES+ to make room for the touch pad and other stuff?

where are you in London? I'm so tempted to get another even though I've got a TE PS3 arriving today.

It's more or less identical as far as I can tell. I haven't used anything but the VS (The SFxT stick) and the VLX for some time now, but I used a TE Round 2 and whatever the TE for SSF4 (with the Ryu & Ken design) was called for a while now, and this feels like a mix of the two - lacks the bulky sides of the regular TE (like the Super stick), but still has the bevel and all that, which the super stick lacked.

I'm sorry. This gave me a chuckle. That sucks a lot. Especially with the red box rental.

Wow you are just not having any luck with this at all lol

Haha at least I got a few free Redbox codes.

Doesn't the first edition PS3 TE have issues on PC? If you ever plan to play on that maybe send it back.

I only have a PS4 so I won't be needing a PC compatible stick.

Anyway, I found a legit copy of Mortal Kombat X at a different Redbox. I tested the stick and all the buttons seems to work fine. However, I am a tad concerned about the input lag. I have never used an arcade stick before so maybe they're all like this, but the TE is delayed a hair longer than my Dualshock 4. I would think a wired connection would have less delay? But as I said I'm not really sure what to expect from an arcade stick.

It's not in terrible condition, but I wish it was better. There's a lot of scuffs and marks and one of the plexi screws is missing. Is the cable door of the TE supposed to *click* shut? Either this one is broken (because it doesn't really lock in place) or they're just built that way.

That said, I did only pay $60 for it. I really like the overall feel of this stick. Honestly if I knew that all sticks have lag similar to this one I would heavily consider keeping it.

So my current situation right now is:

-A scuffed up used PS3 Madcatz TE stick (with slight input lag??)
-An unopened Venom PS4 stick with a new set of Sanwa buttons and a joystick
-A Madcatz Street Fighter V TES+ PS4 on order from Newegg

I spoke to Newegg and they said they were shortened by Madcatz on the number of orders they put in, but they could be receiving another shipment in the next day or two. So if I don't hear from Newegg by Wednesday on whether my order will be fulfilled I think I'm going to cancel it and just deal with the other two.

The Madcatz PS3 TE probably has better build quality and I wouldn't have to do any modding, but it has limited functionality and it's not in great shape. The Venom has full PS4 functionality but I'll have to mod it and it costs roughly3x as much as the $60 Madcatz when all parts are considered. Does anyone have the dimensions of the Venom stick by any chance? I would like to compare the size to the Madcatz.

Hmm.

Was really excited to get my HRAP4 this week but since UPS couriers are being incompetent yet again I have to wait at least till tuesday to get it. Oh well got refunded the shipping costs by Amazon so there is something positive about this.

Has anyone here changed the art on that stick? Just wondering is it easy or hard to change it.

I don't know other UK sites but there are few other ones in EU.

Arcade Forge
Naitokumu
Shadaloo

Not sure if any of those are cheaper when taking shipping into consideration but I remember buttons and sticks being little bit cheaper.

Have you considered HRAP4 Kai? It is 150$ and you might not need to change the buttons or the stick. It also has much more functionality than the Venom stick.

I have a Venom knocking around at home if you don't mind waiting another three hours for me to get home and get my tape measure out. I gather it's the same chassis as the Mayflash MF002 360/PS3 stick was using, though I can't find measurements online for that either.

Bear in mind that the Venom doesn't have R3/L3 or Touchpad as input options, which the TES+ would get you, though.

Here's my Venom I put together a while back. Fancy a change from Talbain now - I really want some hi-res Blanka artwork to play with but can't find anything I like. =/

Just to note the buttons and stick are shifted down slightly from where they were on the TE/S due to the PS4 touch pad and controls at the top. The originally released images don't show a top middle screw so it's the same, but apparently on the actual product there is a screw there, so everything is shifted down slightly. Shouldn't be a deal-breaker, but it's worth noting.

How does the art's te2 plexi compare to the stock one when fit on the te2?
The main difference is that the button holes are smaller on Art's plexi, so you have to remove the buttons, lay the plexi down, and then snap the buttons into the holes in the plexi.

This is different from the stock plexi, which has holes big enough to go around the buttons and can be removed/replaced without taking out any buttons.

Hmm.

Digging around a bit, apparently the 8Bitdo Bluetooth iOS/Android stick that also used the same chassis as the Venom measured at 360mm X 231mm X 59mm (for the base, at least). That sounds about right for the Venom by my recollection.

As someone suggested, though, if you aren't super-tied to your Sanwa's, it might be worth considering a HRAP4Kai as an option too.

Hey all! After making the transition to pad I'm thinking of going back to stick for SFV. However, I've always preferred the Astro City-like layouts to Vewlix. Since PS3 support has been announced that opens up a few options, so I'd like to know what everyone recommends.

I'd like to stay as cheap as possible but still have Sanwa everything. I know that the MCZ TTT2 TES and the SoulCalibur sticks both have the Namco noir layout so they seem like good prospects. I see the latter on Amazon but can't find the former for a decent price. I know the SC stick has a few buttons swap but that's an easy fix so I don't care. I do think it's an ugly stick but not a dealbreaker if it's recommended.

What would y'all recommend?

the result is the stick feeling a shitload better with art's plexi on it

Hi everyone. I'm looking to get a fightstick for SF5. My budget would be no more thatn 100 pounds. I'm looking at the Venom arcade stick or maybe the new small Madcatz one which they are releasing for SF5. Was wondering what you guys and girls would recommend?

I have a Venom. The buttons aren't super great but you can easily swap them out for Sanwas (which cost like $2.50 each in the US, I assume they would cost like 2 pounds each in UK given exchange rates and such). Otherwise I think it's quite good and I like it quite a bit.

I've heard the Alpha is good too but also it has soldered buttons so if you want to swap parts down the line it's going to be considerably more difficult than with the Venom.

Art's plexi is night and day with the stock TE2 one. It doesn't slide around, it doesn't have the moisture issues, and it just plain feels thicker and tougher. It's way more than worth losing the "swap stickart around the buttons" gimmick that doesn't really work.

To be fair the newer version of the stock plexi is much improved, thicker, and doesn't slide around.

Oh, yeah, I'm talking about the plexi that came on the TE2s from when they first released the PS4 ones up until a few months ago. I haven't used any of the newer ones, so I can't compare.

The stock buttons in the Venom are kind of ass even for a budget stick - even as someone who tends towards Seimitsu's in that area, they have a real mushy feel to them. I couldn't really recommend the stick for that reason unless you can afford to factor enough cash to replace those (about £16 at Arcadeworld prices, I guess - Sanwa OBSF-30's snap-ins should pop straight in from what I remember).

Can't say I spent enough time with the stock stick to formulate any opinion other than noticing it has a somewhat stiffer spring than the JLF knock-offs in these kind of sticks normally sport - I'm nowhere near good enough at fighters to have a worthwhile opinion on such things (I like sticks for shmups, though I'm bad at those too), but I actually kind of like that. The extra expense of replacing the stick would probably push you into the "probably should have just bought a HRAP4Kai" territory, though, and you'd need to source a 5-pin female to female connector from somewhere (as the stock stick uses a different harness cable).

I really like the casing itself, though. Has a nice heft to it.

I would have gotten a TE2 if it weren't for the cutouts being around the outside of the button edges. I didn't like that at all. The actual button design is for the edges to sit flat on top of whatever panel they're in, not be sunk in a bigger hole with a gap around them.

I actually have no issues with the stock stick. I think it's totally fine. And I agree that the casing feels real nice and has a good weight to it.

The only real downside are the buttons as you mentioned, which definitely feel cheap. But it's not that expensive to replace them and swapping them in is as easy as a TE.

As I say, I don't really have a proper opinion on the stick as I didn't really spend more than an hour with it - this was pretty much entirely down to me preferring an octagonal gate rather than there being anything wrong with it, so I ended up switching in my preferred LS-58-01 as soon as I remembered I could swipe the cable from another stick (SE-P40 mounting plate, if anyone happens to be curious)

Does anyone know what kinds of screws are used in the Madcatz Tekken Hybrid stick, Qanba Q4, or the SE? The screws in mine are like 2-3 removals away from being stripped :[
Also digging that art from Hibachi, very nice.

Just sharing the mod I did on my ps3 arcade stick. Decided to replace all the buttons and joystick by sanwa parts, and I think came out nice. I hope to use it with SFV, it seems it will accept ps3 sticks

Can someone help me get the TE1 working on pc? Win 10 64 Bit

I just did this last night. If you have Cortana search for 'joy.cpl' and run that. You should see your fightstick TE show up, go to properties> settings tab and make sure your stick is set to 'DP' and hit 'Calibrate'. Follow the instructions. If 'Calibrate' is greyed out then go to the 'test' tab and test all the buttons and the joystick.

If your fighstick did not show up in the above:
go to 'Device Manager' and your stick should show up under some type of game controller or xbox 360 game controller. Right click on it and click 'update drivers' and you should search the web for updated drivers.

If you can't find it in device manager:
You might be SOL. Could be there is a problem with the board on the stick. Maybe someone else can help you with that.

Is it a ps3 or 360 te?

PS3 :(

PS3 you would need a usb controller that allows an older spec of usb , mainly on via chipsets. You can buy an add in card, if you have a pci slot they are a little easier to find, some recommendations are on shoryuken forums. PCI-E is going to be harder to find and one of the reasons I switched out the board in my TE1 to a universal board.

So how do I go about loosening the hinges on my TE2 to make the top panel sit flush with the side panels and eliminate the creaking? I'm looking at the hinges, and I see a spring on each side that looks to be controlling the tension of the hinges. I don't see any way of loosening them, though.

Hori RAP4 Kai

This is a better than decent stick and I would say only the Kuro buttons need to be swapped out for Sanwas. Kuros are good, but the snappy Sanwa feel can't be beat imo. On the other hand, the Hayabusa stick is really, really good. Like, may be my new favorite good.

Those of you modding, give it a shot.

Edit:

Speaking of the Kai, does anyone have the silent version? How is it? Do you still feel "feedback" or does the lack of clicking throw off your timing at first?

Yep, I really like it. It's got the perfect width for lap-play and the price was right (I paid $110). All I did was swap the Hayabusa joystick for a Silent JLF with kowal actuator and buttons are Silent OBSF30s.
As far as getting used to silent parts in general, it didn't take me long at all. Totally worth it if you have kids that are in bed when you play!

Thx for the response. I will take the plunge on the Silent version in a few weeks for sure. Good to see Hori still going strong. They were my very first stick.

i saw some of the usb hub things being advertised but I just think its going to be a whole lot easier just getting another stick then.

Desperate need of help right now. For some reason my HRAP 3 SA (Hori) doesn't show the green LED turning on when I first plug it in. I haven't used it in a while. and my PS4 isn't recognizing it for SF5. But then, when i hold all 4 buttons down, eg turbo home l3 r3 it turns on? not sure if that's how it was supposed to from the very bginning. The stick works though, I was playing KOF on steam a few minutes ago. Any help?

And then when I hit all four buttons when in SF5, and the LED comes on, it doesn't recognize the stick :(
