Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

Is anybody here using an MC Cthulu PCB PS3 arcade stick for SF5 on PS4?

I read on SRK that it is among the supported PCBs but I don't have any more information than this. So I just want to know if it works perfectly fine or if there are any issues or input lag.

Tested mine and it works. Can't speak to lag, just tested that the buttons and stick were operable.

So does it feel perfectly normal to you lag-wise?
I am not asking whether there's no lag at all as this won't be the case anyway.... Just if you can feel some difference when compared to anything else.

Ok good to know.... I don't have a PS4 yet and I don't feel like spending that much for both the console and a good PS4 stick on top, so at least if I know that my all-Sanwa MC Cthulu stick can get the job done, then this will save me more than enough money (for the time being at least).

I've spent an hour or so trying the stick with different games and it feels really good but strange, I suppose it's just going to take time to get used to it.

Really like it although I do still prefer the Ryu stick.

Not keen on the fake 3D art so I am wanting to change that, has anybody seen a high res copy of the same art, but without all the logos and stuff?

Here ya go.

The Mad Catz store is out of the different colored bezels for the TE2+ sticks. Does anyone have any idea how often they restock their online store? Thanks!

Fuck it. Pre-ordered a TE2+.

Lag test got me paranoid. I doubt I would ever even notice it, but it would always bother me.

I'm curious then as to why the Amazon page for the 4 Kai (as well as hori's own site) says hayabusa buttons as well.

I'm doubly curious because I just bought the 4 kai a month ago and it definitely does not have matte finish buttons. Would kinda suck if there's a 'new updated version' now shipping with these apparent better buttons now.

the bottom stick also uses the new matte hayabusa buttons instead of the kuros

The second one use new Hayabusa buttons instead of Kuro, few english reviews about them.
They are shorter and matte finish. And apparently better.

Oh alright, my mistake.

e: Also might as well spam these here. Seimitsu stuff I saw at jaepo. The new LS-62-01 was nice.

How come people love Sanwa so much but hardly anyone ever mentions Seimitsu. Was it Madcatz sticks using them so everyone likes/thinks they're the best?

For me, it's the Seimitsu gates wearing out quicker, that keep me away from their sticks. I like the pop sounds that the buttons make.

Sanwa sticks are too loose for me. I have an LS-56 and LS-38. Both with octagonal gates. The 38 by far is the stiffest of the all of the arcade sticks....that I know of so far.

Drat, forgot my stick was originally a 360 one. I had a guy mod it to work on PS3's as well but it doesn't seem to want to play nice with the PS4. Might have to invest in a PS4 one, which ones are easily modable? I'd like to customize my stick again.

What I find most unusual about this is that I ordered a HRAP 4 Kai directly from Hori USA's store on Friday and the product page definitely listed the stick as coming with Kuro buttons. I checked up on the exact same page earlier this morning...and now it says Hayabusa buttons. I think they really have made a silent update to the product.

What I'm curious about now is which version of this I'll apparently be receiving, given that the site's been updated within the last two days. I've been daydreaming about some minor mods I'd like to make (mostly for cosmetic's sake, and maybe install an octagonal gate if I feel I can't adjust to the square), but that plan might have to shift around a lot if the Hayabusa buttons feel markedly different than Sanwa, since I hadn't intended to change literally all of them out. Guess I'll find out how it all feels one way or another in a few days.

Either way, my first stick and potentially my first mod-job down the road. How exciting/terrifying!

Why is that? I'm not too familiar with gate wear, or any wear for that matter. I hear people really like the LS-40 compared to the 32, is that made of better materials?

Does Hori only offer sticks with their knock-off parts? I like the lower price but the one on amazon isn't full sanwa.

Yeah all their sticks are hori parts. But, I really really really like their stick (hayabusa) way more than sanwa jlfs. It's absolutely perfect. Those kuro buttons are awful though. Replace em.

Should look good! Alternatively you could try 4+4, whether two rows or uh, two L shaped Tetris pieces if that makes sense. Or get a blue button and copy the Virtua Stick:

Yeah, I like that one too! I didn't order any blue buttons, but thankfully the stick comes with (dark) blue as factory so if I can put up with it feeling different, I might go that route.

I'm sure I saw a 6+2 button layout somewhere (likely SRK) because I don't think I would've come up with the idea myself! But definitely wanted both colours there.

Whatever happened to Lizard Lick?

The store just stopped shipping out orders, while receiving new ones. They even stop giving back people's refunds. I was lucky to get my refund back in time before their website went offline. You can read more about it from other customer's experience in the SRK tech talk section.

What a fall from grace.

Look, I love Sanwa, but the Hayabusa is a legit great stick. Currently my favorite, in fact. That said, I still do prefer Sanwa buttons (though the Kuros are solid), but those are easily swapped in. Save yourself some $$.

To be fair, it was a surprise to _everyone_ that it closed in the way it did. Chad just kind of fell off the face of the Earth. There were also no signs of it happening, because he was always a very friendly, helpful guy on the forums and in emails. The fact he ran everything so well made it that much more of a shock.

That's crazy. They were always good to me. One time they even threw in an Orange Bubble top for free when I ordered an LS-32.

I had one time where he sent me a solid one instead of a bubble top by accident. Emailed him saying I'd send it back for a replacement, etc, he said he just shipped it out, to keep the other one.

Damn, I had wondered what happened to them. LL was where I bought my parts for the first stick I customized (my FS3).

Well my TE2+ should be arriving today... Alas I won't really have much time to test it, or be able to change the artwork (and some buttons) due to an annoying 2pm-10pm work shift, lol

You can swap everything to Sanwa parts but honestly I don't think it is needed. Hayabusa stick is really good and I think the buttons are better as I get way less accidental inputs compared to Sanwas.

Yeah, I heard the Hayabusa stick is good. Did the RAP 3 have one such stick? I owned the RAP3 until I sold it recently. But I imagine the Sanwa buttons would be better?

Has anyone been using the PS4 Venom stick?

Looks like a good price for a beginner stick, perhaps swap out for Sanwa parts later on?

There's been a moderate amount of chatter about it the last couple of weeks. I've had one for a while - it's a pretty solid slab of metal, plastic and Perspex. The stock buttons aren't particularly great, though OBSF-30s drop in with zero effort (the Seimitsu screw-ins that I'm using, not so much...)

As far as I know RAP3 had Sanwa parts. Hayabusa stick is pretty new actually so I am pretty sure it didn't have that. Neither of the buttons are objectively better and it is more about what you prefer. Lot of people like Sanwas more though but some people like the Kuros more.

Should there be any break in period on a new stick? Down on my new TE2 feels a tiny little bit sticky. Will it eventually work itself out?

Just to clarify by sticking I mean when I press the stick down there's a slight tiny catch in the resistance that I can feel before getting far enough down for the click and the movement to register. This doesn't happen with any of the other directions.

So since I can still use my SFIV tournament edition stick, I want to do clean it up a bit. I made some custom art, ordered a pixie glass and some new buttons with a purple bat top.

Now I want to get rid of the red bezel and replace it with a black one. I went to Mad Catz site but their sold out on black 😞.

Anyone know where I can find one, new or used?

So I'm getting ready to sell my TE2 stick which I barely used and has always been well stored away only to realize there was a bunch of superficial scuff marks on the plexi. I try wiping them off with a damp cloth only for some moisture to slip underneath. So I immediately take off the frame for the first time, and the plexi.

What I wasn't aware in doing so is that the TE2 art work seems to be plastic, and glued down? Is that normal? When people customize their stick, do they just put the artwork overtop of the existing glued down artwork?

yep, new art just slapped over top

What is the difference between the Sanwa buttons and the Kuros buttons (which I assume Hori RAP4 comes with?).

RAP 3 has Sanwa Stick and Hori standard cheap buttons (not the Kuros).
Yeah, I honestly thought the buttons on RAP3 felt kind of cheap. Hope they feel better on the RAP4.
