Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U Thread 5: Yarning for Yoshi

Coming up with a moveset for a MH would be easy, given all the different weapons from the series but the design of the character would just be ... ???? Who knows. Maybe they just give them different armour sets as alt. colours or something.

The idea of Capcom getting two reps in there is crazy tbh. Mega Man actually has roots with Nintendo and maybe it's just me but I still associate Monster Hunter with Sony.
The moveset wouldn't be a problem, the problem is the character design. There isn't a default Monster Hunter design, as far as I am concerned (or is there?).

Also, I think I recall someone from Capcom saying they don't want a Monster Hunter character in a fighting game, because of reasons... but I might be wrong hm.
Well, it could work the same way as Wii Fit Trainer. You know there is a male costume for her, right?
I do (and I am expecting a female costume for Villager, btw). The thing is, there are tons of different armors in Monster Hunter...

A post from /v/ just a few minutes old:

The full list of newcomers is:

Little Mac
Prince Sable
Palutena
Takamaru
Mii
Shulk
Monster Hunter
Slime
Pac-Man

Wait for the next direct and you'll begin to see this is true. One of them will be revealed then to build hype for an upcoming game.

The first fake list I like. I would totally be okay with that. There's a lot of better third party choices than Monster Hunter, but if it's the final list, I'd be ok.

This is barely worth mentioning, but I thought I'd bring it here for something new to talk about.

Not that I'm entertaining this as even being a tiny bit likely, but I like that Prince Sable is in there. It's the exact kind of oddball character that you could see Sakurai including.

Monster Hunter and Slime though... probably not.
I would kill to have Dragon Quest represented in Smash.

Who's Prince Sable? Where's he from?

Otherwise, I'd be cool with this except for my burning desire for a third FE person.

Well, it could work the same way as Villager. They could just use the default design in-game. You know Villager is customizable in Animal Crossing, right?
:P

Or they could come up with a completely new design by working with the Monster Hunter dev team.

The list doesn't have Isaac so I don't really give any shits.

There are plenty of other
fake
lists that do have him, though.

I want my damn sword/magic user already!

He's that dude from a japanese game who changes into a frog. He's in Link's Awakening too.

Just read a little about him. Seems cool. I wonder how they'd handle him turning into a frog/snake.

Takamaru, Palutena, someone from Anna/Robin/Lyn/Chrom + Lucina, and Impa make up my current big four. Anything more is just bonus material.

He's from "For the Frog the Bell Tolls". Early Japan only GameBoy game developed by the legendary Deer Force (Team Shikamaru, team behind Metroid, Kid Icarus, Super Metroid). Mostly known in the west due to it's engine which was later used for Link's Awakening (honored also by cameo appearances from For the Frog the Bell Tolls). It's also one of the games that feature Totaka's Song.

The default design is pretty boring, though.

Anyway, just watched the opening of DKC Tropical Freeze. No kremlings in sight. Still, it's not like K. Rool would appear in the opening, if he is coming back (he isn't ://).

Although the "big boss" of the game looks a little bit suspicious...

well monster hunter isn't a huge huge hit in USA like in Japan so I guess a monster hunter character can work to build hype for the MH4 next year

those cats can be his/her entrance help, bringing him/her to fight

do it Sakurai

Prince of Sablé is a rather interesting character choice for a retro representative, but as an actual Smash Bros fighter I don't see much to work with; it'll probably be a mix of him transforming into a frog and snake for smash/special attacks, with most likely a Toon Link-esque aerial and tilt game.

From that /v/ "leak", I only really see great moveset potential for Palutena and Takamaru (I actually don't know a lot about the potential of Shulk but he'd be interesting either way; I need to play my copy of Xenoblade...). I don't particularly care for Little Mac, Monster Hunter, Mii or Pac-Man.

When it comes to characters that I personally would be interested to see, is more Pokémon representatives (considering how much data there is of them and their moveset possibilities). Even for characters that I'm not too fond of (like Blaziken, Zoroark) or those that I think are awesome (Greninja, Mewtwo), there's still just so much possibility for all of them that easily outweighs a majority of the "leaked" newcomers.

Other things I'd like is a new Zelda and Fire Emblem representative (but hopefully someone other than a sword user).

Played Brawl Minus last night and pretty damn fun. It didn't help that the person who brought it had several excessive large stages but some characters were pretty fun to play as like Zelda with her large range. The mod definitely made 4 player matches fun and chaotic. Some changes from that might be interesting to see in Super Smash Bros. 4 like Charizard's rock smash

On the topic of that list though, Slime and Monster hunter seem out of place. Prince Sable seems to really to unknown for a place. Otherwise, fairly solid and sort of safe

This person calls it the "full list of newcomers," and yet Mega Man, Wii Fit Trainer, and Villager aren't on it. GOOD GOING, ANONYMOUS DUDE.

Yeah, totally and utterly fake. Monster Hunter and Slime are just icing on the bullshit. :P

Technically that was Richard, another prince from 'For the Frog the Bell Tolls'

The list falls down with the inclusion of another Capcom character. They would have been better off putting in Twinbee as a new Konami rep.

They obviously meant unannounced new characters but that's splitting hairs. There's no way the list is real anyway.

I would love to see Prince Sablé in the game if only because it would mean that we would get this glorious piece of music in the game.

Plus, I think his frog/snake transformations would make for a cool and unique playstyle!

Also, no idea about Slime, but I'll be sure to flag Sakurai down if I ever see him walking around our building, lol.

I like the character grid images on the Smash website so had a quick go at recreating them with some random Brawl characters, thought I'd share since it's the weekend and all.

And the obligatory:

Mega Man is the only on that seem interesting. The others could be interesting, no doubt, but I don't feel like "wow I really want to try this character right now".

I really want to try Rosalina right now. The luma mechanic is probably one of the most unique and interesting in the series.

It's honestly amazing how much more interested I am in Rosalina and Luma for their mechanics than I am for fucking Megaman, given that he's the star of one of my absolute most favorite gaming franchises and a character I was jonesing for from the Brawl days.

Admittedly, I skew more heavily to the X and Zero series than the classic games.

Yes.

Monster Hunter, YES.

Man Prince Sable would be like the best newcomer ever. His Final Smash would be getting into a huge cartoon dust cloud and dragging everyone he touches into it.

also his victory theme would be a remix of da awesome credits music

Fake lists remind me of the Brawl wikipedia page before smash was out. It had to be protected because a guy heard from a friend that Sora would be in, and kept adding him to the page.

In a more serious note, I'm wondering if we will see anyone cut. I feel they will add the most Brawl characters they can since porting characters is probably easier than creating them from scratch, specially if you want a sizeable roster.

Count me in the "avatar bet" levels of "NO WAY ANOTHER capcom rep"

The roster leak reminded me of the leak that we got during 2011.

Must...avoid...being hyped!

Like I said we are more likely getting Direct in last half of Feb. Feb 14 to Feb 28 would be more safe bet for everyone. For some reason, people thinking that we are getting one this Monday, but I don't think we will since Monday Direct only happens once in the past but I'm not saying that it wouldn't happens again. I'm pretty sure that Monday Direct is just a rare occasion, along with weekend Direct.

Two Punch Out reps at once would be weird, but besides that, this list is pretty much perfect to me. Also, Zoroark in Smash would be great. That thing deserves some love.

Shame the list is fake.

Please don't post false information.

Whilst it's likely a Direct is coming up, don't hype people over nothing.

I think a default MH design is this:

I don't think IntelliHeath means anything by it. Just posting info and his inference from them.

And I just noticed this thread is now on getting an MH character into Smash.

I'd be disappointed if MH isn't in, which he likely isn't.

Would be the best character the franchise has seen, IMO.

It'd be a very nice surprise and would add a lot of variety. Sakurai likes his MonHun right? Maybe he did get it and Phoenix Wright too as a bundle deal with Mega Man when he went to Capcpom...
I can dream

Yeah, more third parties, the better.

MonHun, MegaMan and Phoenix Wright all make sense for Smash.

I'm sure this has been answered before, but what would Phoenix Wright's moveset be?
I've never played the games, so I don't know anything about him outside of the courtroom

He was in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. You can check out his moveset there if you're curious.
